It's great to see that these wonderful instruments aren't just being lost forever to time. Reuter is a wonderful builder of some of the best, and probably most underrated organs. I acquired Reuter Opus #380, and hopefully by December 2011, its installation and restoration at my residence will be complete. So, I'll be following your videos here with great interest! Thank you for sharing Opus 1087
with us, keep the videos coming, and may God bless...
@dieselheart001 Hi Mark... and thanks for visiting. Such good news that another Reuter is in the process of being saved. You can read the history of how we acquired this instrument in the description. The person who was instrumental in helping us acquire #1087 recently died (Don Davitt). He was the curator of the instrument in its original location and helped convince the church that its new home should be Florida; otherwise it might still today be sitting in its original chamber.
@dieselheart001 We move to a new home one year ago and are now in the process of reconstructing (and enlarging) the instrument along with reconfiguring to a new four manual console. As you can see from the video, the initial FL installation utilized the two manual console which we also obtained from the NJ church. Definitely a work in progress! Watch for new videos which will announce the resurrection (once again) of 1087
@Alwaysapipedream . We too needed a bigger house (and now have it) and are in the process of reconstructing. We are also now up to 22 ranks with 14' ceilings.... and that makes a nice, big difference. Will post more videos once we are finished.... and that is many, many months away. Small miracle if we are finished by Christmas!
Thanks for your inquiry regarding the facade. The chime rank was housed behind. It was "just the right place" in terms of fit and proximity to the console (chime cable, as you may know, is very expensive; we tried to keep it close to the console)
You Should Trade that in for A Rodgers. They have excellent sound and you can add it to the existing pipes. They will also include speakers for nice reverb if you wish.
why get a "toaster" when you can have the real thing in your house, I have a 2/20 casavant in my house as a practice instrument, and I would never trade it in for a rodgers. Just think about all the money that was put into this organ.
The great will be pretty much free standing as it is now. Since the ceilings will be much higher the great will appear with greater height (now many of the larger pipes are tubed off). A chamber will be build for the swell; however it will be in an adjacent garage - a cut in the wall will be made for sound to enter room. Swell is presently inside the room with a chamber built around it - not the best arrangement.
Many kudos to Ed, a gifted and accomplished musician and his equally gifted partner John. I 've known these two wonderful people for years and enjoyed their beautiful home and seen the installation and expansion of this wonderful organ. To think that it is soon to be disassembled and then re-assembled will be a labor of love, but well worth the time and effort as it finds a place in its new home. Let this performance serve as a reminder of all the love and music enjoyed within these walls.
A beautiful thing to see and even more beautiful to hear. Many have enjoyed the company and hosting of Ed and John! Looking forward to the next phase. Good luck with the move.

That is a cool organ. Were there pipes above the console and behind the facade?

What are your plans when you re-assemble the organ? Will it be built in, have a casing or be housed anywhere? Love your playing as well :D
