a) Outdoor sounds is extremely hard to record, especially voices when you have wind, traffic, birds, etc.

b) They also heavily edit it since a lot of these would be boring if you had to listen to two or three minutes of this per person. Editing, a lot of comments would make no sense out of context.

c) It is filmed in Montreal, so all you would hear is garbled French.

Considering the budget of JFL (or any TV show) it's fairly certain they tried it several ways, ran it through test audiences, showed producers, etc. I'll put the opinion of dozens of professionals, with film degrees, having access to the original footage above some guy on the internet.
