For years I kept hearing this song being played on WKRP In Cincinatti in the part where dr. Johnny fever was being Interviewed by Real Families about Herb Tarlek and I keep hearing the Part SHE TALKS IN STEREO...SHE SOUNDS SO GOOD TO ME and always had a notion it was Joe Walsh but likily I happened to clicked on this song and to my surprise it was the Figures!!! Interesting Classic from 1980!!!
Just saw them play live a couple of hours ago - Gary and the band are still great! They finished with the one-two punch of this song, and then right into "Guitar, Talk, Love and Drums." Awesome.
@DriveInFreak Considering the fact that I recorded it almost 30 years ago, it's not odd at all. However, if they were lip-syncing on this performance, I might be able to do a new soundtrack for it.
@DriveInFreak No problem, DriveIn. I laughed when I read it!! ;-) You're right about Stereo TV, too. I was still living at home with my folks when I taped this via antenna and we lived about 45 miles from the transmitter site. I've done new soundtracks for some of my videos whenever they were using the album tracks and were lip-syncing, but I never did a comparison on this cut. My "Hollywood Heartbeat" and "Rockworld" recordings are the rarest ones I have....so far.
Gary Myrick & The Figures are reuniting to play The Roxy in LA, CA on June 22nd, 2010. Original members Gary Myrick, David Dennard and Jack White will appear along with new keyboard player Gina Myrick. They will perform songs from the first three CBS/Epic Records releases.
I heard this song once and bought the LP. Years later I gave it away. Now 30 years later I find it posted on Youtube.Who are you people?Sick with nostalgia or what?
Thanks for the feedback. I have more videos that weren't favorites of MINE, but I might start uploading them for other fans. I've kept these tapes for close to 30 years and I'm happy to finally have a way to share them.....as long as the record companies and YT let me. I've tried to upload several videos that get blocked. Dumb.
steadily moves like the grooves on a record my head spins when she talks to me oh yeah slip and sliding we go driving by and i can hear her say my baby says hey (she talks in stereo she sounds so good to me she talks in stereo x2) i look in your eyes you look at my face you will see clearly is it our 20/20 vision oh yeah slip and sliding we go driving by and i can hear her say my baby says hey (x8)
Good song, surprisingly vibrant for techno-pop. Why didn't Myrick and the Figures figure more prominently back then?

Hmmm. My last attempt didn't work for some reason...let's try it again.
That's understandable. Stereo TV hadn't come out yet and I don't think that MTV had even started doing their old FM simulcast at that point.
This one's so rare that I'm surprised anyone has it at all.
I was trying to joke about the title being "She Talks in Stereo" but the recording isn't.. Looks like my attempt at humor fell on it's face...8)
