I recall seeing a television production of the opera several years ago. I think Helen Donath, soprano, sang the role of the governess. It was a superb production and among the scariest pieces theatre I've ever seen. The Quint was handsome and so menacing with an unmistakable sexual obsession with the children. His atttempts to seduce and possess them were chilling, and Helen Donath's singing and acting were compelling. Too few opera fans in the United States know about her talent and career.
Cool. I was just curious because I played Flora this November at Peabody and it would have been funny if it was at the same time... but TotS doesn't exactly fit as one of those "seasonal" operas like Butterfly is always in the spring... this opera is spooky any time of year. :)
He is brilliant. His trills are gorgeous. Mmm. Perfection.

I love this guy's voice... just wonderful. Reminds me of wunderlich in its muscularity and focus. This aria really suits him well.

Fantastic opera-- heard the wonderful Robert Tear sing Peter Quint years ago-- a similar voice to this one.

Mmmm, good voice. If I was a tenor I would love to sing this part. Creepy and depraved. Delicious.
