Saw the first two episodes. Loved them so much that I wanted to download them from iTunes, and I did, but made a shocking discovery: they were being EDITED in broadcast! If you are going to write and produce such a wonderfully dark series, either put it on FX, pay cable or don't make it at all. Just my opinion. I'm now waiting to buy the DVD's, so I can see it the way that Vince Gilligan intended.
Its almost as though Shane was looking for forgiveness from Vic... As though he though Vic would understand that all he was doing was trying to protect him and Ronnie.
But when Vic pushes him away, Shane brings up their past. You especially see this when he walks off and says "Your a goddamn hipocrit".
Almost like a child, he just runs of... amazing scene!
the problem with vic is that he wasnt good enough nor evil enough. if he was more like tony soprano, he would have gotten rid of shane long ago.
shane was trouble from the start. tony would never have had such a trouble maker on his hands no matter how buddy-buddy he was with the guy. and then got rid of mara too.
what i'm saying is that i dont think tony would have touched that money from a guy wanted in several countries, several international authorities in his own district. also, he would have gotten rid of trouble-makers like shane, myra, & her mother. myra stealing it & the MIL blackmailing them & spending it in indigo just brought the team in more danger. also, using it as a drug buy by letting byz lats walk off w/ it was a bad idea, since they spent it in town.
@jmz106 MAYBE THATS TRUE TONY SOPRANO AINT GOT SHOT ON VIC MAYBE I SHOULD SET UP ORGANIZED CRIME IN A POLICE DEPARTMENT AND GO AROUND RUNNING GUN SMUGGLING DRUG SMUGGLING LOAN SHARKING HOME INVASIONS BUSINESS EXTORTION THEFT MAYBE I SHOULD BE DOING THAT SO I'D APPEAR AS A COP BUT I AM A REALLY A ORGANIZED CRIMINAL RUNNING ORGANIZED CRIME IN A POLICE DEPARTMENT FULL A STUPID FUCKIN COPS I HATE COPS BUT USING POLICE DEPARTMENTS AS A FRONT TO RUN ORGANIZED CRIME IS GOOD
why? cuz chris was getting to be a liability. tony doesnt bank on friendships nor kinships. he's very objective when it comes to business. doesnt matter who they are, if they're impinging on money-making matters, they're dead to him.
now, vic should have gotten rid of shane long ago, cuz he was way too unpredictable and uncontrollable.
Very very very good point! Christopher was nothing but trouble for a long time. But he and Tony were related, and if he too so long to kill Chris, then i don't think he would of quickly got rid of Shane cause they were really close.
Interesting how Vic has such anger for Shane and wants to kill him so badly. Many people assumed Shane was going to die at Vic's hands. Ironic that he took the easy way out and commited suicide.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Mackey should've blew Shane's bitch ass away right now. It would've saved alot of trouble and Shane deserves to die! I hate how Shane got off so easy by committing suicide. Shane was a bitch and wasn't shit without Mackey
vic should have blew shanes woman maura away when she gave her mother money from the money train, then she bought that damn lexus, it all went wrong from there
Yeah I hate his bitch wife Maura too. Especially the scene in season 3 when she hit Tavon with in the head with an iron after Tavon kicked his ass. That's the season when Shane started to get annoying. I also hated the fact Mackey always defended him on that. He finally realized Shane was a true bitch when he killed Lem.
But in the end, if Shane hadn't made said mistakes and Vic hadn't been fooled, Vic could've made easier, and better, decisions. Shane is the true root of cause for the end of the Strike Team.
You're correct. I've always said it was Mara's fault, at the core. Once she stepped in, things went crazy. But you can also blame Shane for getting with her in the first place. Corrine was always a moron.
Actually I haven't seen this season of The Shield completely. Just a few epidsoes. But the whole series Shane is the weakest out of the whole strike team. Seems like Mackey alweays had to bail him out. And he was a punk for killing Lem. Also he got his ass whooiped by Tavon in season 3 where Mackey had to cover for him and his girl. Yes Mackey is an asshole but that's what's so cool about him. He's a dickhead cop you can't help but cheer for
I think more felt passionate about Shane because he learned, he wanted to change but it was too late, Vic when he pulled that gun out of his office drawer to me he didn't care, he's an animal and he won't stop. It's true
i would have been so much happier if corrine had been killed for some reason similar to lem's - say, she had a deeper, more vengeful conflict with vic, and started unloading information to kavanaugh - by shane or some other member of the team. would have been just as dramatic, and way more satisfying! chea!
same freaking thing man! agree with you all the way. The Shield, Oz then The Wire. CSI and those lame ass shows will never step to shit like this. Peace man.
Tuesdays suck now that the shield is over with. I watch my seasons I have on video and certain scenes just bring tears to my eyes. Truly an excellent television show. I wish they would do a continuation.
I swear, the shield is the best cop show drama ever. forget all the weak ass, law and order, nypd blue, none of them can compare to this. I've never gotten into these shows. got hooked on the shield from day 1..I like the rawness, the hard hitting drama. I can watch it non stop. Why did the show end is beyond me. I love the shit to death
Guncrazy, i never said they talked, i said that Vic WANTED to call Shane and did, even if unsuccessful, it still shows my point that Vic and Shane were closer.
it wasn't the armenians that ambushed shane it was the mexicans, shane was with the armenians, and shane's phone was shut off so vic didn't even talk to him, shane went outside to have a cigarette when the armenians got shot up by the mexicans
I wonder what would have happened if Vic would've been successful in reaching Shane before the Armenians ambushed Shane and the guy he was protecting (cant remember his name)
Vic knew Shane before the strike team and you can see after he realizes what he and Ronnie did, that he wanted nothing more than to save Shane and get him out of there. Ronnie was actually the one who said 'I wish you could hear your damn rationalizations' to Vic when Vic confided in Ronnie that maybe he could help Shane.
That is not at all true. Shane and Vic were closer than Vic and Lem. Vic knew Shane longer and even after he discovered Shane killed Lem and had Ronnie toy with Shane's gun so it would be defective, Vic was the one who wanted to call Shane and get him out of there, Vic was the one who wanted to redeem Shane because he thought he could make him who he was again, Ronnie was actually the one who was gung ho about eliminating Shane after Lem's death.
u know, kavanaugh did bring the strike team down. just not how he wanted. without his report, vic would not have found out about shane. we all know how it played out in the end
at the end of the show, we saw that Vick was way worst than shane, shane was just copying vick... Shane killed lem. for the strike team "best", but vick killed Terry for hiss best & sent ronny to prison for his best, played that FBI girl for his best... Vick is worst
At the end we can see that without Lem their fidelity, their friendship was an illusion. Before the money train robbery they became gangster and they will destroy each other. Vic is not better than Shane even he believes that.He was the chief. He is the first responsible.
Vic is like Hitler. Terry was a "traitor". He has this destructive charismatic influence founded on a code of bullshit that he himself concocted for his own power. Shane is like Goebbels: rather than live without Vic and his family free, he kills wife and kids and himself. Just like Goebbels did when he knew Hitler was going to commit suicide.
Wow, I've never watched more than a few scenes of this show, but you make me want to buy all six or seven seasons on dvd with psychoanalysis like that!
I was always unclear about the grenade count. If Ronnie checked to see that shane logged in 73 grenades which Shane did, and there are presently 73 grenades in the bomb squad evidence locker, then what makes Vic think that Shane pocketed one grenade to use to kill Lem? In other words, how is it determined that Shane took one when the only number mentioned is 73(Ronnie says 73, "like the homerun record.")

It is determinded that Shane took one because lied about being followed. I suppose Shane could have lied and said "Well maybe Kav wasn't tailing me but someone was." If Vic bought that he it would be the end of discussion, but I doubt he would by that.
Shane lied to Ronnie and took a grenade before he even had him log the 73. Which means he was planning to kill Lam before they even had the grenades logged.
BS imo. Shane's been weak all along. The money, the wife, the deal with the Armenians.
Vic is a piece of work too but Shane has double crossed the team/family so many times for his own sake. I really wish Vic would have put a bullet in his head or crippled him or something back a few seasons ago.
or blow his own head off after killing his wife and son..damn that was fucked up...sucks that ronnie ended up going to jail for all the shit shane and vic had bigger parts in and vic gets immunity..but ends up alone with no friends and family..i thought a story of redemption might have befallen the ending of the shield..but vic was portrayed as becoming almost emotionless and cold about everything
Shane is right, and I think deep down, Vic knows it.
If Vic really thought Lem had turned, he would have done the same exact thing. He can't admit it to himself, but at least sub-consciously, he knows it.
Vic and Shane are about even in terms of morality. Shane is just more impulsive. Actually, I'd say Vic is worse, because it seems in recent episodes Vic is perfectly ready to murder a pregnant woman to save his own ass. Vic is low. And he's going down. So is Shane, I'd imagine. Karma is on.
Vic would have done the same if he was 100 per cent sure Lem fliped. Shane was'nt sure he flipped, he killed Lem just as insurance. Lem would never have flipped.
No, Shane was sure Lem flipped. He bought the Aceveda lie and Lem wouldn't go to Mexico, so Shane incorrectly assumed Lem had flipped. Vic is smarter than Shane and he probably would have figured it out had he been the one to talk to Lem.
It's a while since I watched season 6, I did'nt think he was 100 per cent. Yeah if Vic got to talk to Lem it would have been a whole different outcome. That scene is the best out of all the seasons, brilliant acting.
One of the best scenes on the show. I think Shane was right about how he and Vic are the same but when it comes to most of the bad stuff they've done: taking bribes, working with drug dealers, and killing members of their own team. But Vic doesn't want to believe that because in his eyes, he sees himself as someone who wouldn't betray a friend the way Shane did and I think that is the only thin barrier of difference between them.
Lem's death was the saddest thing I've ever seen on TV ever. He was the best character on the series.
