Totally love Wilcox, part of me is "sad" he's not a mega huge star (why should some teen from American Idol have more air time) but of course, his modest low key brilliance is what makes him so awesome.
My dad used to love this song when I was little, and I thought it was SO annoying when David kept talking about random things, now that I'm older and I'm a musician myself, I can really connect to those "random things". Love you dad, and thanks David for keeping this kind of music alive.
Hello David! if you read this.... I am Aileen from the old WWC! Love you buddy! You still sound the same as when we did coffee shops in Schafer! I have lived in Italy since graduation... Love and Light!
I used to play little league baseball in East Asheville about 1/2 mile from East Asheville Hardware, so obviously I am a big fan of my former neighbor even though I live in Thailand now. I love JOHNNY'S CAMARO most of all !
David Wilcox is such a special human being! My friend and I were gypsy minstrelling around Marin, and we wandered backstage as he was doing a dress rehearsal for a show that night at a big theatre. We ended up all sitting round robin, playing songs, and he gave us free tix to the show, plus a bunch of CDs. This is my favorite of his songs! What a wonderful human being, full of warmth and kindness and generosity!! Go David! - big love, MAesyn
Actually, his Rainsong has a specially modified/custom metal bridge with individual setup for intonation, he uses a custom hand-made Sunrise pickup in the soundhole with a very expensive mike pointed at the guitar. He blends the guitar sound through a very expensive (10K?) custom-made preamp. This is in his shows. Don't know if he has all the gear here. Wilcox is an audiophile--he's not afraid to use technology to get an awesome sound.
It's cut to let the sixth string (lowest string) through. A "drop D" capo by Kyser. In this particular tuning, there is a B on the lowest string, and then a B an octave higher on the IV fret. It makes for an amazingly big sound. Wilcox says this is his favorite tuning, and he does use it on a bunch of songs.
He's been my favorite for years now. I am a Swiss fan. He's got fans overseas. Just thought he'd like to know that (course, he knows that already). I think he's got some of the most intense, intimate and intelligent lyrics out there. Just love the guy...
David's music has been my life's soundtrack for the past 20 years. What I have learned from him and the comfort and joy his music has given me is beyond measure. Thanks, David.
David made a guest appearance Sat. night at the Tosco Music Party in Charlotte. This was one of the songs he played and it was great. He owns an audience when he plays. Loved his music for years and glad to finally have a chance to meet him. He's in my five (best singer/songwriters) around.
this is wonderful. as per usual.

how does he make that melody look so fucking easy...anyone know what his giutar is tuned to??

LOL! Good luck with that - he tunes really weird. He's so hard to play - but so dang awesome!

he has some instructional videos here on youtube... bottom line is though he's just a really phenonomal guitar player

It's open G with a B on the sixth string. Cut capo to fret IV. It strums an open B chord.

Thanks a lot John!

Hey John..what do you mean...cut capo..is that a special capo..I just noticed that he uses two together on another song??

for selective capo work, you can also use a 'third hand capo' which allows you to select individual strings.
