There is an important CORE feeling to locking that people whom are new to it seem to lose, and that is the built-in "fun" factor. When Locking was created it was supposed to be done as an exaggeration of regular dancing, like "clowning" basically. It is difficult to describe but if you have ever seen Will Smith do "DUMB DANCING" on Fresh Prince Of Belair, then that is the same type of feeling that created Locking. it was supposed to be a spectacle, an exaggeration, not really cheorographed.

locking looks like great fun, but i cant help but think popping is a more skilled art, i find the speed/tempo of most locking performers a little one dimensional (that may be how it is) also popping audiences tend to be given a more wow factor, someone explain why locking is so popular plz?? also check my iso vid please!

I guess one of the main reasons is that while EB developed popping skill without stop from 1970s to current dayz, there were no such 'Core' on locking scene because Original Lockers was broken up so long ago..

as i am a locker in Korea, i can find that foundation of locking is developing so fast. Even though i give so much respect to OGs in this vid, it think it's a duty of new geneartion lockers in the whole world to go beyond OGs' level, and i think they are actually achieving it.

96matber lockin is just as traditional as poppin. it takes a lot of skill and a lot of effort to execute both styles. and what baeksoltang said, the foundation of locking is developing. there is so much to innovate from two of the most popular funk based dance styles. they both have their own variations... and of course... its real easy to see the difference. other than that, always respect the styles, the OGs, and the roots. much love man
