Baltimore Examiner/12.24.08/ Trooper Bruce Wrzosek, 22, a Maryland state trooper, charged with drunken driving and making an illegal arrest, boasted that he was untouchable. Trooper Bruce Wrzosek had kidnapped a passenger whom he had just forced into his cruiser moments before his arrest Saturday on kidnapping, assault and false imprisonment charges. Wrzosek led police on an 85 mph chase, turning on his emergency lights and running a red light, then blew a .20 on a blood-alcohol level test.
Trooper 1 just crashed this past Saturday night, two troopers, an EMT and patient were killed. My heart and prayers go out to the brave who risk their lives every day for others.
Unfortunately, you're mistaken. It was trooper 2 that crashed, and a pilot and medic from the state police passed away, as well as the rescuer and one of the two patients on board.
ok, one more question; how did you get to ride along with them? do you know someone on the force or did you just call a them and ask? if you just called, can you tell me the number to call?
Do you know anything about being a Maryland state trooper? because I would like to be one and was wondering with the physical fitness course if I didnt pass the 1.5 inches past both toes and passed everything else could I still make it?
i recently did the physical fitness test with the MSP and the CPL clearly stated if you fail one test, you're done. aka fail. he'll then talk to you and give you the option to come back at a later date.
however..just practice stretching 5 times a day. trust me, it worked for me. and the Trooper their allows you to bend your knees ever so slightly. hope that helps.
I prefer a flight configuration in which all medical crew members are RN's with dual licensure as an EMT-B(EMT-IV in TN), or EMT-P(TN Does not have EMT-I unfortunately).
Vanderbilt has thrived for quite some time in this sense.
Thanks to MSP for getting my buddy up and off 495 after his bike was hit and getting to UNIV. OF MD. in time. the family & friends thank you, God Bless you & the people @ shock "T" in Balt. Nice job
I have a question, i only seen an Ambulance no other apparatus such as an Engine or Rescue setting up an LZ, is this common in Maryland for not having a Fire Dept. setting up an LZ for them?.
Is it just me, or did they get REALLY close to that house? Medevac pilots are all crazy, probably because most of them are Vietnam vets and are used to getting even closer to objects while under fire. This stuff's probably easy as cake to them, lol...
The pilot makes the ultimate decision and if you have an option you take the easiest of course but commercial level pilots practice confined spaces before ever attempting them. I've been in places with my rotor tips only 8' from trees.
Like I said before, you guys are all crazy. But hey, if you don't go to a lot of the places you do, it would make our job a lot harder. Thanks for not taking your meds :-D!
The Eurocopter group was born in 1992 from the merger between the helicopter divisions of Aerospatiale-matra (France) and DaimlerChrysler Aerospace (Germany
Today, the Aviation Command has a fleet of twelve Dauphins. Each helicopter is equipped with twin gas turbine engines, full Instrument Flight Rule (IFR) capability, Global Positioning System (GPS), a state-of-the-art medical interior, F.L.I.R. (Forward Looking Infra Red) and a NightSun Searchlight. We are confindent that we have the best law enforcement / MedEvac helicopter available today.
It creates a standardized way that Med-evacs are done. MSP has been doing med-evac since the 1970's and currently have a fleet of 12 Dauphin helicopters. The crew of each helicopter has pilot and a paramedic and they are efficient & reliable. Obviously, maintaining a fleet of 12 Dauphins is very expensive so it is actually positive that there is one agency that is well funded to carry out this important mission.
MSP has a website for their Aviation Division if you want more information.
wow, i never knew that, Maryland is way smaller then New Jersey and there State Police only habe two Medevac's just to show that State of Maryland really shows care to there citizen's.
Awesome video but one thing I've always wondered is why the hell the state POLICE are in charge of something that looks to me like it should be run by EMS services?
Why not? EMS in Maryland is all public, provided by local jurisdictions, and coordinated by the state. They could have created a new agency to handle medevacs or just use the MSP which already existed and can use the helos for other missions. From the flight medics I know it is a case of Paramedics who happen to be troopers not cops sidelining as paramedics. Very good system.

Really it is not a good system. Think about it, cops as medics. Really how specialized is the care. I worked at STC for five years and know that the care given during the critical hour could be so much better if they utilized an RN and RT combo like MedCenter Air in Charlotte does. I have worked both and seen the difference!
You are welcome to your biased opinion. My field experience gives me a different perspective and we are not going to agree. But saying that they can't be qualified because their job title is Trooper isn't a legitimate argument. Being an RN doesn't qualify you to provide field emergency care. They certainly can be trained for it, just as a FD paramedic or Trooper can. I know PMs who are RNs or became a PA. The title means nothing, these guys are not doing traffic stops in between missions.
The numbers of lives saved because of the MSP Aviation Command speak for themselves... Without this system, trauma patients would be getting substandard care at local hospitals and would not necessarily have access to the services provided by the Shock Trauma Center. Great system!!!
AS I SAID, ITS TO EASY FLYING IN AS-365-N2 DAUPHIN WITH 2 MOTORS AT SEA LEVEL. THE REAL DIFICULT IS DO IT IN A MONOMOTOR HELICOPTER AT 6000 or 9000 Feet over SEA LEVEL IN REAL PERSECUTION...

BGVAC31 4 years ago
If you pause at :43 you can see the engine on the roadway. Normally as long as one is in the area, they don't have one right at the LZ
hdegpcolynch 3 years ago
Landing zone (LZ) area must be obstacle free, this includes trees, debris, wires, signs, stumps and trash.
The LZ should be 100 feet X 100 feet and as flat as possible.
The LZ should be marked with flares or lights. Keep lights shining downward to avoid blinding the pilots.
Notify Survival Flight communications by phone and the flight crew via the HEAR radio of any obstructions on or near the LZ
