Meanwhile, I've seen Joker take down Superman and he doesn't have super powers.. And Lex finds ways to bring him to his knees all the time. Cheetah can go up against Wonder Woman, and as far as I know Wonder Woman can go up against Superman. Hence that, I believe Cheetah with magical power and kryptonite can easily go up against Superman anytime. superman should really take combat training with Batman, i mean superstrength only works when the other person doesnt have equivalent strength (ie superman vs thugs), the minute they are as strong as you and can actually hurt you? Its no different then two regular guys brawling it out with each other (aside from the potential increase in collateral damage....collapsing buildings, etc)
The only reason Superman eveer gets beaten up like this is because the writers want to create dramatic effect, if a villain can manage to rough up the man of Steel it establishes them as a serious threat. A fully and properly written Superman is unbeatable, even with kryptonite. I mean he used his x-ray vision, speed, and strength to exploit pressure points on another Kryptonian in Superman: World of New Krypton. That alone is proof that Superman knows martial arts techniques.
Maybe I don't know enough about Superman to gauge exactly how vulnerable he is to magic, but if something is able to grant this woman the 'mystic powers' of her namesake, shouldn't she still be rather easy to take down? A guy who can juggle planets VS. a big kitty... It SHOULD be kind of one-sided, right?
@Bobzeaux If I remember correctly his vulnerability to magic is equal to a normal human. For example: In the Mayfair Games DC Heores RPG his resistance stats where nearly off the charts (pre crisis) but when magic was in effect they were normal human levels (ranked at 2).

@Foody92 The only people I remember him killing post crisis (when I was reading the comics) where the Phantom Zone Villains from a dead alternet Earth and he was so effected by his actions he ended up developing an ultra violent split personality called Gangbuster and when he found out about that he exlied himself from Earth to protect people. Regardless he's not the kill first and ask questions later type. Probably Silver Age version, not sure.

One thing they DID take away was his super intelligence. The silver age was filled with a lot of dramatic fake out covers like that. As for Doomsday, as I recall Doomsday was nearly invulnerable and when he does get hurt he heals quickly and that form of attack no longer effects him (or something like that). Anyway, throwing Doomsday into the sun goes back to Sup's

It is something that defently should be explored more along with what it's like to have the kind of power he has and live in a world like ours. I recall in the JL animated series he had a speech to Darkseid about living in a world of cardboard and never cutting lose. Should be explored more to be sure.

I want that superman i want the superman who doesn't try to go toe-to-toe with Doomsday and gets killed. I want the superman who knows he can't go toe-to-toe with doomsday and chooses to fly so fast that single punch blows doomsday head off, I want smart nonretarded S.M.

@Foody92 during a fight you can forget a lot of stuff...but I'm guessing no ones ever tried to kill you. Ben 10 kind of emphasizes this since he ALWAYS goes for the hardest way to end a fight but that's just my opinion

@Foody92 Um, you do know Superman doesn't just kill people so 'lasering them to death' or whatever wouldn't be in character for him. Anyway, the krytonite would weaken him too much for him to activate his heatvison. As for Doomsday that post crisis Superman and he's not as powerful as all that. :)

@Foody92 The only people I remember him killing post crisis (when I was reading the comics) where the Phantom Zone Villains from a dead alternet Earth and he was so effected by his actions he ended up developing an ultra violent split personality called Gangbuster and when he found out about that he exlied himself from Earth to protect people. Regardless he's not the kill first and ask questions later type. Probably Silver Age version, not sure.

@Foody92 Yeah post crisis Superman had his hands full with Darkseid (sometimes more so than others) so yeah and the post crisis Superman couldn't run around the world to build up momentum for his punches and even if he did, as I understand Doomsday he wouldn't have been killed.

Also I was using doomsday as an example of when it would have been better for him to actually use his brains instead relying completely on his powers. @Foody92 No they didn't take his super speed away but it was greatly reduced in speed so his running around the world in seconds is out of the question. One thing they DID take away was his super intelligence. The pre crisis Superman was a super genius who could build or think of anything the post crisis Superman has human level intelligence (albeit high end but not super human). I checked the site. All I saw were a bunch of silver age 'shock covers' not meant to be taken

@LibraGamesUnlimited seriously and lacking the acutal issues to check I bet each case the 'murder' was a dream, a trick by a bad guy or something like that. The silver age was filled with a lot of dramatic fake out covers like that. As for Doomsday, as I recall Doomsday was nearly invulnerable and when he does get hurt he heals quickly and that form of attack no longer effects him (or something like that). Anyway, throwing Doomsday into the sun goes back to Sup's

Also that no killing policy is even more extreme than Batman's. In hunter/prey didn't he send Doomsday to the end of time? isn't that than sending him to the sun, sending him to the destruction of the universe, entropaphy? Also didn't 2 Supermen Supergirl and Powergirl actually beat Doomsday to death?

It's a form that's been mocked in more recent years. :) I don't know Hunter/Prey and the other thing you were talking about are after my time but if I had to guess the end of time thing was probably a last resort thing as for the other if you got two Supermen something is already off about the senerio and he

I have to say, as with the Phantom Zone criminals who had killed an entire alternet Earth Superman does have a point where resorts to killing but it's only a last resort, in extreme circomstances and he aganizes over it heavily. If he was moer kill crazy then Lex would have been a bloody pulpy corpse years ago.

@Foody92 well, he has from time to time. There was the Phantom Zone criminals from the alternet Earth but I doubt they're the only ones. It is something that defently should be explored more along with what it's like to have the kind of power he has and live in a world like ours. I recall in the JL animated series he had a speech to Darkseid about living in a world of cardboard and never cutting lose. Should be explored more to be sure.
