The Swords version is so freaky and disturbing, but in a good way of course! So sad though, sends shivers. It is like a doomed wedding song. Doomed lovers.
I like the other distorted version but this is good enough to have gone on the album. Goes to show Moz doesn't always pick the best material to go on his album's these days.
This version gets to me everytime. So good. I want it as my wedding song but is it the right type of song for a wedding??? A part of me says yes a part says no.
Mikey Farrell, who co-wrote this song recorded this version with some L.A. musicians using Morrissey's original demo vocal. We world-premiered it on my radio show sometime in May 2009.
He said this was along the lines of what the original recording would have sounded like, but for whatever reason Morrissey/Tony Visconti went with the eventual recording.

Sweetie Pie Is A Incredible Song, That Actually Does Not Need Defending By Me Or Anyone Else...But I Felt The Need To Say Something, Out of Respect For Morrissey!
@popculturevictim : I agree 100%. Beside, if you take a look at "marlonbarnes" account, it was created the 15th february and has no activity at all. It's clear that someone beyond the nick created an youtube account just to make that comment....so I didn't give to him any importance...
@TheAmbitiousOutsider Yep ,I Did See That His Account Appeared To Be Created To Simply Make That Comment Alone...But I Could Not Leave His Comment Without A Response ;D Haha! I Always Leap In Front Of Flying Bullets For Morrissey=)
Marlon - Morrissey may be one of the few lyricists who actually does talk about other people's experience - but you clearly don't know enough about his music. I'm sure you can browse through enough of the generic and 'fogetable' r&b and pop songs on You tube to satiate your minds limits without trying to muddle your simple thoughts with Morrissey's great music.
I found the link to download but youtube doesn't let me put it up. If you google "morrissey farrell sweetie pie" and click the first link, it will take you to solow. Click the download link that says "segment download here." A few minutes in he describes it.
...according to Mozipedia " To te confusion of the tune's composer, keyboard player M. I don't have the exact quote, but a few months back, Farrell was on a radio show and unveiled this track. He said that after not being too happy(or something of that sort) he reworked the original with his friends. This was long after leaving Morrisseys backing band.
Amazing version, thanks for sharing! Long live MOZ!

@mozzz79 Course it is. It's your wedding, if you like it it's right. Well, you & your wife! Not other people's place to judge.

Amazing song. This is Morrissey's Moon River but so much more beautiful....
Although at 1 minute when the drums kick in, it starts to sound horribly cheesy.
I prefer the K Young / sound effects version.

Fogetable song from the most self absorbed person ever. I love how his tracks revolve around ME or I. The old fart ain't what he used to be.
