I have the NIV Study and it has maps, a million footnotes and all sorts of stuff, including a timeline: Abram born in 2166 BC, Isaac in 2066 BC, Jacob and Esau in 2006 BC . But when I said "dates" I meant the _actual_ text does not keep the chronology -- scholars had to figure out the best estimates. Creation, Fall, Flood, Babel all have question marks on the timeline. The earliest record of the Bible is the Patriarchs placed at 2350 BC. But it's all estimates and that ain't history.

The Jews spent a lot of time in Egypt and the Egyptians had 365-day sun calendars as early as 5000 BC; however the Jews employed lunar time, but still, they had a way of keeping dates. So why didn't they? Surely the Almighty could have helped them, but I guess they were just keeping with tradition -- the book is full of tradition -- that old-time tradition where common sense shall not prevail. God should proof-read his book before publishing it, or "inspired" the writers to keep dates.

Where do you get your information from? Evolution explains the diversification of life, not its origins. All the life sciences point to our origins as simple and very long ago, not through instantaneous creation. Just because it cannot be explained, does not mean you summarily ignore the evidence in support of a common ancestry.
The universe is a closed system, but to reach a high level of entropy would take over fifty billion years, because there is so much energy to 'cool'.

Science believe that the universe had a beginning in the so called Big Bang hypothezesis, the red shift argument and so on, thus the argument goes like this: Everything that has a beginning must be caused.
