  • i have these deck's and sometimes they don't read the cd, displays "no disc". i don't know if it's the actual deck or maybe the cd's im using. anybody know i way to fix this..?

    thanks

  • @MegaDirtybird: I fiddled with mine a long time. These decks have a lot of issues, and I eventually replaced mine with some CDI500's. A better replacement in the same price range as the C.314/324 would be a pair of Radius 1000's, or Denon DNS1200's.

  • Hi, i have the same cd decks. I supose this happens beacuse it must have a jog wheel speed control-limit, i think it will reach a very high speed when the laser lense wont read the disc and the music will freeze, also the anti shock may fail. so i think it has a limit to avoid this. imagine if you put a motor to spin your jog wheel so it can go a lot faster u can spin it with your hand, even a cdj1000 would fail at certain speed... I dont know. something like that to make shure music wont fail...

  • Spinning the jog wheel does nothing to the movement of the CD disc in the tray. The scratch effect is a digital effect, and done by digital processing, not by actually changing anything about how the CD spins. The music on the CD disc is digital data, not like a vinyl record. The CDI500, which is similiarly priced, does NOT have the same problem, and does a spin back just fine.

  • Ive just started to try&get used to my stanton c314s so can anyone who has them or knows by the use of the how to operate them explain a simple queery, whils i have a tune in play back i want to be able to hit the play/pause button& the tune just slowly shut down instead of coming to an instant stop(eg:stop in slow motion)can anyone who knows how to do this reply to me,it would be much appreciaciated.

  • i have a iDJ2 and the backspin seems to be like the same on Stanton c.314

  • buy cdj 1000's or dont do spinbacks

  • Thank you, but no. I can do spin backs just fine on a dozen other decks besides the CDJ1000.

  • I had these decks, the problem is that the response in vinyl mode is horrible. The latency is still the same on the C324's. Not only failure in the buttons but they have difficulty reading MP files. One one deck it wouldn't even read my CD. If you're going with cd decks I would suggest Denon's or Pioneer. These ones have a lot of looks but in reality they are a failure waiting to happen. I sold mine.

    late

    one

  • you have to burn them at 8x

  • thats not important if u want true sound get vinyl other wise, cd players arnt perfect but they get u in and out of gigs

  • What is your point? I am not talking about CD players in general, I am talking about issues with this particular deck, which there are many.

  • my point is its not an issue. the spin back? thats not a common move at a show. The truth is pioneer cdj's are equitment to have for a cd gig. Tech12 for vinyl. other products are very good but not as bullet proof and with other decks some have more problems than others.

  • The truth is you have no point. I really haven't been big on spin backs either, but some people are, as it's been discussed concerning this deck to a large degree. I am describing why this deck does not do spinbacks well in this vid, so people know why. There are decks in this same price range that do not have the spinback problem, do not have the button failures, do not have the annoying resetting problems, or the spontaneous auto-looping issue, so I think it is well worth discussing.

  • the stanton c324 have the same problem

  • That's not really how you do spinbacks. You just spin it back hard in one go and take your hand off of it . . .

BTW, thanks for the link! As usual you do a great job in explaining the pros and cons of this deck. So far I've been doing fine with mine.

  • I'm aware that is not how you do a spinback, but there was no way to demonstrate the limitation by doing a normal spinback on video. Many think the problem with doing a decent spinback on this deck, is an inability to "spinback" the platter fast enough physically. My demonstration shows that regardless of how fast you spin it back, there is a limitation to the sound effect from doing so. My keeping my hand on the platter, was so you could see the change in speed, and no change in sound :)

  • Here's my own experience with spinbacks acting up on the c314s. I've noticed that if you have keylock on, and/or effects spinbacks become impossible. The more you manipulate the original sound, the less likely you are to get a proper spinback. Also, the further you push keylock changes -- the less likely you are to get proper spinbacks. If you go into +/-25% ranges with keylock enabled, things are bound to get tricky for spinbacks. My annoyance is that the brake effect works half the time.

  • Hey, I didn't know that keylock being on would effect the spinback effect. I'll have to give that a go. I generally leave my range at +/-8%, rarely going to +/-16% for mixing, and sometimes +/-100% to emulate a slow platter start effect. By the way, you may also know me by djthunder in the forums, your vids on this deck are really good :)

  • Yeah I kind of figured out who it was, which is one reason I was eager to participate in the conversation rather than lurk as usual :)

  • I'm not sure if you saw my latest video, but I'm down to one deck at the moment :( One of them is out of commission, until I can get it fixed again. It has all the official fixes, plus new tact switches (which are working great), but still is malfunctioning. Hoping I can get it fixed in the coming weeks. Have you seen those Reloop RMP-2 decks they have in the UK? Wish they'd sell those in the states.

  • did u try to adjust break or somerthing?

  • Hey abdallah3, i had the same problem with mine. Then the whole unit would freeze while i was playing a track.

  • Hey wats up everyone. ive got a qeustion, wats the lowest price i can get 1 stanton c.314 on the web. plz write back with a website or info thanx

  • You don't want one. One of mine has a problem again, even after all the fixes have been done. Will be opening it up again in the next day or so to see if I can fix it yet again. If you'd like to spend a lot of time fixing your own deck, go ahead and by one :)

  • don't really sound like a cdj1000 lol

  • Well, I don't think you can make a judgement on sound, when listening through audio that was recorded on a 1/4" mic in a digital camera (not a camcorder), which was then converted to a smaller video file, and then squeezed and grinded up in the Youtube conversion process....LOL.

  • But no, a C.314 certainly isn't as good as a CDJ1000, even if the C.314 were a reliable deck. You spend big money and get pioneer, and you will get your money's worth. If I could afford them, that's what I'd have, or atleast the CDJ800's :)

  • the cue button on one of my decks just f'd up. if i do get it to work, i have to press it on a different angle every time. anyone else have this problem?

  • Very common problem, unfortunately. There is a build up of tarnish between the metal contacts inside the switch. It uses a diaphragm contact in the center, that when depressed contacts another metal contact point. The tarnish builds up right at that point of contact, hence, if you press at enough of an angle, you can get around the tarnish just enough to make an electrical contact, but as the tarnish builds up, even this will not work.

  • You will want to get the switches replaced. If one switch is going bad, the others will follow. Sorry. Look at the information for this video, I provide a link to the tact switch that I used as a better quality replacement. I recommend finding a good recommended repair tech near you, and have them replace the tact switches with the ones I recommend in the information for this video :) I hope that helps :)

  • It helps alot man. Thanks. I love Cue tapping in my mixes, so when that went wrong, i pretty much lost it. hah. but i'll see if a friend of mine can replace the switches. thanks again.

  • The tact switches are very small, and are mounted on a surface mount board, but are "through-hole" mounts. Mention that to your friend. If he says, "Oh, yeah, I can handle that", then you are good to go. If he looks at you with a blank stair, you might want to take it to a shop...hehe. Anyway, the switches I suggested are the ones I am using, and so far, no failures :)

  • wow smart ass

  • type in stanton 324 in the search to see a vid opn them that some dude made

  • Ya im dffenitly going to post a video on the 324 decks lol. But if i wanted to buy different switched for the buttons where could i get them

  • Yea thats all true they do go bad faster then many of the other switches i mean i have a gemini unit i bought for like 200 buck and doesn't have the button problem and these are 400 they shouldn't either. I hope the 324 are going to be good.

  • i think they should do somthing about the buttons but the C.324 is supose to be much much more reliable then the 314 so they must know the 314 had aot of problems . 'I orderd the c.324 from guitar center and will be here in 2 weeks. I'll make a video and show you what going on with them as well.

  • I would really like to see a vid on the new decks. I like some of the updates they've done on them, and I like the new color scheme :) You are welcome to post it as a video response to one of my C.314 vids if you like :)

  • hey man i really appriciate you spending your time teaching people the problems with these decks. they are great but not reliable enough. I talk to the stanton group and they said they fixed every on the c.324 expect the buttons but they said the buttons aren't a big deal they said for about 50 bucks they could fix them. They also that the buttons go bad becuase there being used alot

  • The are partially right, however the buttons they are using do not take as much abuse as they should. The Pioneer decks also use Tact switches, and many other CDJ decks and CDJ type decks use Tact switches, but only the Stanton tact switches have the high failure rate... hence the reason I went with after market switches rather than buying the straight stanton replacements.
