Whats worse is the time she kept trying to make me canter her and I knew something was wrong. I kept telling her. I knew that horse like I knew myself. Instead of beating her I got off and my mom called the vet and I had to walk her for hours cause she was at high risk for colic. We had to walk with two people behind her cause she kept trying to lay down and we knew if she did it would be the end.

I bought my first horse as a rescue. She was skinney, thrush all in her feet, bad look at life, and no hope for someone to love. When I got to the ladys house about 2 hours away from me, it was dark, so we couldnt ride her, but i could tell she was scared. I didnt get enough time to think if I wanted her (being a newbe at riding) but her owner threw her in our trailer without me saying my share. I ended up geting her anyway, and the next morning thats what I found. Now im glad i got her.

I go to the best farm ever, we save HORSES from cruel farms. I am in the middle of training 5 horses who just moved to our farm, who are also lucky enough to be alive, and love this farm so much because they actually get treated like kings and queens, get fed, and have someone to love them.

You know there is a serious problem, but are also aware that a properly run, and regulated slaughter house may be a necessity. I certainly respect that. I had a boyfriend for 11 years in the horse racing business, and I think I stayed with him to protect his horses from him. He did not beat them, or be cruel, except that they live a horrible life mostly in a stall, being whipped to go faster. made to race when lame on a frozen track. I could find no way to stop it, so I gave them all the love I could, took them out to play and they loved me. Leaving those animals was the hardest thing. but he was beating me. I actually fought to the end for some horses that were close to me. They were bad off, one of the mares was just awful, all their hooves were in horrid shape. Every day at sunset I would drive up there, water them and feed them, took pictures and even reported them. Sadly I drove by and seen the owners and I actually knew one of them. The horses are now owned by my best friend who has given them a happy loving home and 40 plus acres to roam

Some broodmares foal in August and if they do it takes all the energy and muscle out of them . All you have to do is fatten them up again . At my barn we have one that foaled in August and she is doing just fine . Shes skinny but we are fattening her up . Horse abuse is real but for some that is normal .

@horseygal .. I wish your numbers of people who love their horses were right... but unfortunately they aren't. A lot of horses are forced to pull heavy loads every day... loads that are far too heavy for them, they aren't fed problerly, they aren't cared for etc. Horses are abused for rodeo shows, steeplechase, dressage on high levels etc. Just look around on youtube and you will be shocked how many horses that are getting abused.

I go to horse auctions and rescue horses there and outbid the guy who wants to slaughter them and this one guy couldnt get his horse to load so he tied the horse to the back of the trailer and drove away dragging it.. the horse was dragged for 5 miles until the cops stopped the guy.. its so sad how unfairly horses are treated.

@lilmissmuffin0 just remember you can't save them all, its great that you are going and saving these horses but don't push yourself or your budget too far that won't help them anymore than the guy dragging the poor horse. it'll honestly prolly be more painful, i'm not trying to be mean i'm just stating fact. i think its wonderful that you are saving these horses but again don't push past what you and your budget can handle i've seen too many people hurt themselves or their horses by doing that.

@ju0404dy0404 some horses have not been bred to withstand nature such as TBs or Missouri fox trotters the special breeds would die off quickly and most likely painfully from things such as founder or pneumonia, also some horses would profit from slaughter, as would many other animals. instead of just dying of old age through a slow painful death and then being wasted by burying the body a slaughtered horse would not have to suffer till death in a regulated SH it would be quick and go to b food

I run my own slaughter house and I slaughter horses for business, it is in high demand and people pay big money, plus I slaughter cows, chickens, pigs, and turkeys, there is a very good reason to slaughter animals to me, and that reason is to provide, for my family

@spiffyzebrastripes I work at a horse rescue and have adopted at least 8 horses over the last 2 years, I am at the moment working on training and buying a double registered missouri fox trotter who has been abused but thanks to the law since its not sever physical abuse and its not hurting her health i have to buy her, her owner is a very, rough man, to say the least. but this was done for a project at the time for school i put it on here for others to see and hopefully urge someone into helping

@Beturblueboonsluver well no not all horses that are thin are abused but ALL horses that are thin need MORE vet care till the reason is found and a solution come up with. we bought a horse from a man who claimed that no matter how much he fed his horse it wouldn't put one weight.and that he had taken it to the vets when we got him home we immediately called the vet and she couldn't come up with a solution after 1000s of $ we didn't know the cause then it turned out all he needed was exer. & att.

@626Sonny if you watch the whole video some of the horses aren't in i'll health they are usually after my mini lecture pieces that one was after one that says to respect horse because it bows its head in friendship for your needs as well as wants for things like our entertainment. i ride cross country but i saw the ride that this picture is from and he forced that horse over some jumps it really wasn't ready for and didn't want to do. using spurs in a way most unforgiving.

@eveis4ever i know. he's a horse that we rescued his teeth were horrid as were his feet this is the picture we took after he was coming off of the sedative after having his teeth floated and his hooves trimmed. (we had to keep him sedated for his teeth because he was in that much pain from how dilapidated they were)
