  • I have owned one of these for two years, as well as many bikes over the years. It is not an auto shift as others have mentioned, you have to do your own shifting via foot lever or finger lever. This bike is awesome and fast, I use only the finger paddle to shift, it's great! When you actually do a lot of miles a day it reduces the fatigue factor especially if you are in an environment that requires many gear changes.

I'll take my FJR over any Harley any day and I own two other bikes...

  • nice bike. what is that place you made this movie. nice climate in there

  • Where did you get your camera mount??

  • The AE model is awsome. Click on my screen name to see a video of it`s performance.

  • @ 4734678 It is an auto clutch not an auto shift that you would find on a Sypder. You still have to manually shift the gears of the bike. It is shift with either a normal foot control lever or a finger trigger on the left handle bar. JFYI

  • it never shifted out of second gear. and it seemed to wind a little high before it shifted out of first. for those of you who are too lazy or uncoordinated to shift your own gears, one of these auto shift bikes is fine. personally, I prefer my harley soft tail custom.

  • Nice video. I would like to hear from you why you prefer this bike to a car. Everyone has their reasons :) Thanks.

    Where was this filmed?

  • It reminds of a Tomos moped that we had the transmission would sound like a peanut vender.I like manual shift.I do have a 1981 Yamaha XJ650 Midnight Maxim.

  • Got to say, it will be very much slower, dont care what the figures suggest, but why oh why did anyone come up with this idea in the first place, what are we all becoming, lazy buggers, it has never ever bothered me pulling in a clutch to change gear, so why the hell would i need a semi-auto for that, blows me away...here's an idea for the next boffin to come up with a cunning plan.... Don't sell a bike to a lazy bastard. Gee x

  • gay crap u dont need, sounds bad too,

    they probably cost alot.

i bet manual clutch is faster and alot more reliable

  • Just one more thing to break. I'll take the manual clutch. This video is pretty much useless

  • I bought a FJR AE a few weeks ago . I am happy to say its nothing like as bad as this video makes it look. Its an awesome bike the auto shifter is so quick and easy to use. The new FjRs they have a lower weight ratio making other sports tourers like and ride like camels. The auto shifter will be the way most big tourers will go over the next few years. Had I seen this video first it would have given the wrong impression. Been a bikes for 50 years take it from me this is an awesome machine.

  • @PaulGarrack

Thanks for that Paul, not sure about the bike, how does it perform in slow and stop traffic, ie in a town with traffic lights and going slow, plus, you are right about this vid, its keeech, dont think the fella got out of 2nd gear and the time it took him to press the button was mental. Anyway, hope your bike works for you. Graeme, fae Scotland.

  • Nothing for me, i will take the regular Fjr. It sounded like the shifting was a bit late, listening to the sound of the engine.

But a nice touringbike it is.

Sorry for my bad English. But hey, i am a swede.

  • what's all that noise is that the shifting unit??

  • I road one of these AE a few weeks ago...YUK unitill i cant pull clutch This bike is not for me. Good luck with it....

    05 FJR.

  • Thank you for a great video. What a shame the engineers didn't get juts a bit nicer note out of the standard exhaust!
