I can somewhat understand why you might not like this style of music. It does lend itself to people who understand theoretically what's going (odd meters, rhythms, tempos changes, alternating music styles etc.etc.) and are drawn to it. Some people just like unusual music that isn't radio friendly, such as myself. There music has matured since this song, the transitions between the electronic and the metal are less obvious, so if you want to open your mind i suggest you check out their repertoir.

Well the thing is, you could argue that GT's style took some influence from prog, which is generally characterized by times, progressions, melodies, etc that differ from those in popular music. So saying "thank god this isn't prog" strikes me as a bit narrow-minded. At the same time, so does saying that they're shitty/not musicians just because it sounds so different.
