I'm sorry Simpson: this piece could be justifiably considered plagiarism. You have produced a work not only virtually identical in structure and melodic content to the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, but completely identical in texture. You haven't acknowledged the work as being a carbon-copy of the Tchaik, let alone an influence. It saddens me that some, not sure of themselves, get away with this, unknowingly for the wider public, at the expense of more talented, original and honest composers.
@AzureKingfisher Actually, this great, original movement and the Finale to the concerto that goes with it will outlive both you and your irrelevant comment.
Various spots in this movement remind me of Tchaikovsky's violin concerto in D. For example, the orchestral opening and the place where the cello appears.
Oh just gorgeous! My apologies it took so long to reply to youe friend request...I had a stroke in 2010, and this year have been preparing for my Requiem concert -- as a result, I have not been keeping up with my "social networking"!
Your music is SO engaging as skillful! Oh to write at this level -- I would be in heaven! I am in Colorado -- if you like drop me a line kepeace"at" inbox.com -- it would be my honor! -- Karen Peace
It's nice to see composers who go their own way and aren't influenced by the ridiculous pressures to be atonal or serial and tiresomely "avant garde" (the current state of "avant garde" being about 60 years out of date).
As a fellow musician, I truly enjoyed this; as a cellist, I am excited to know that there is good music still being written for my instrument in the classical tradition. Thank you for composing and sharing!!!
what wonderful music. if you dont mind me asking, did you use other classical/romantic pieces as a kind of strong inspiration, template, or guideline for any parts of this piece?
Congratulates the beautiful concert, beautiful sense of tenderness and sensitivity. Very congratulates contractor SUPE music very beautifully, great. You my friend, I would like to thank you for a very good video so. You did great work, congratulates and wish you every success. Yours - Roman

very nice work (both the orchestration and the cello parts) it's a tough piece because of the technical elements and the lyrical, melodic parts. I like it and i would love to see more. 10x
after listening to it again it make think of ennio morricone's movie themes (in a good way) One can sense the tension, the flow and the story that the music tells..very nice
Orchestra for 25 years. After conservatory, he toured worldwide with the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra for more than two decades, playing in the most prestigious concert halls in Europe and Asia. In 1985, Gelfandbein played a sonata by revered Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich to a packed crowd at Leningrad Philharmonic Hall -- with Shostakovich sitting in the audience.
A native of Russia, Gelfandbein received his Ph.D. at the Leningrad Conservatory of Music in cello performance as a student of Mstislav Rostropovich, with post graduate study in conducting with I. Musin. He served as Principal Cellist of the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra for 25 years. After conservatory, he toured worldwide with the Leningrad Philharmonic [CONT.]

This is the first movement of a two movement concerto for Violoncello & Orchestra. ----- Although it is only a "student" orchestra the soloist is quite renowned. [CONT.]
wow, remarkable orchestration skills, and the general support melodies are remarkable as well! when exactly was this written, it has masterpiece written all over it heh heh!
@13Orcun There is only one other movement (the Finale) recently composed and now uploaded - thank you for your support which is never taken for granted and always appreciated.
