I heard (maybe from the DVD) that John C. Reilly wanted this part so bad that he did a video of him singing "Mr. Cellophane" and sent it to the producers. Worked. FTW.

What I love about this film is not only the incredible vocals, acting and dancing, but also the incredible songwriting. An interesting fact? ALL of the main actors have Broadway experience, except of course Renee Zellweger. But honestly, if you didn't know any better would you have known? She is as incredibly talented and vibrant as the rest of the cast. And you know the sad thing about the film? Richard Gere is the only main actor in the film that did not receive any Oscar credits! Lame.
