@G33KSPALACEdotCOM Not Scandinavian and not laughing. Not to be dramatic but it's more sad than funny. There is so much to learn about Europe's forced exile out of the Dark Ages because of the vikings; Massive dispersal of historical, religious, scientific, and literary documents that were being hoarded by monks; Trade of kings to enrich a new and different league of rulers - not better but new...important factor when compared to stagnation;
@G33KSPALACEdotCOM The creation and growth of (more often) walled cities do to fear of the vikings and for common defense..also, a major source of increased trade of goods and ideas; The implementation of the first European parliament and the spread of the concept of people's judgement in law. The list goes on and on...
Kind of hard not to fight the christians when they forcefully banished us to areas impossible to live in. Fortunately, we Vikings are a stubbornly hardy folk that refuse to lie and die.
Judeo-Christianity forced a peaceful people into violence. It was't the first or last time either. They will catch their comeuppance.
Vikings; the last great bastion of peaceful anarchy destroyed by religious persecution.
@Mauhadeeb28 Uh...Medieval Scandinavian peaceful? Check above for how much I respect the culture....but, peaceful is not a word I would use to describe it. Perhaps, 'agents of change', like Loki...so venerated and scorned in Norse society. But there's always truth in the trickster.
@brucedouglaswilson Yes. Peaceful. The overwhelming majority of "Vikings" were farmers and hunters in small communities. Much of their history has been erased by the catholic church as the Nords were seen as "heretics". Catholicism hated competition and had the power and resources to do something about it back then.
They aaaallways get cocky. Its called Winner's disease... You win a bunch of battles and think yourself invincible... then you bite off more then you can chew and WHAM... You're spending your honeymoon in a pit on fire covered in gasoline as the red army burns the city down around you.
I will kill all Fat Ugly Asian Jewish Readheads and then eat there dead corpses and then puke it up and get my dog to eat it MUHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My family has been swedish since before the chuchbooks, close to Norways border. It would be cool to be related to someone of the famous vikings. Too bad one will never know
the vikings were excellent artisans with metals, then the Christians tried several times to steal their jewels, them then if they turned warlike to protect they knowledge
