hi i noticed that you posted this video quite a long time ago but i still hope you get to read this ... i have the asus eee pc notebook right now but iam planning to sell it and buy the msi wind U100 instead... will it be a good choice?? is the msi wind better?
MSI ftw. The keyboard on the EEE was a deal breaker. And all the other netbooks have glossy screens that burn your retinas. MSI is easiest to type and read on for the size.
Now this is a good review for the Wind. Personally, though, I really don't have a problem with the one bar click, doesn't bother me. But maybe that's just me.
Umm....the right mouse button works regardless. This machine just uses a single piece of plastic, so it's harder to differentiate between the left and right clicks.
Just to save people from falling what I fell for: avoid the wind at all cost. The thing is NOT, I repeat, NOT build very well.
The problem is in the screen and the lid. The lid is easily bent, especially while carrying around. Also when you open an close the lid while the screen is on with a dark blue background, then you can see how there is all kinds of stress on the screen because of the watery patterns that appear.
The screen will break early I think - not well protected at all.
Ignore this person. There was someone else on another review saying the same crap and it is just that, crap. The screen does not bend, all the rest of that is just nonsense.
You're wrong. I can clearly see the stresses in the lcd display when moving the lid. I don't know if that will shorten the life span of the lcd because it might break prematurely, but it sure looks and feels very fragile. The netbook overal feels all right (not great) sturdy wise, but the lcd screen itself on the inside does not. It should have been shielded from the various bending motions and stresses much better.
Either you're lying, exxagerating, or you got a defective model. Because mine doesn't do any of that and I've never heard it from others who have the Wind. I'm holding mine right this minute and NONE of what your saying shows. Sorry. The laptop I'm using right now is showing a lot more bending and warping than the Wind and it's lasted for 3-4 years now.
Well, mine does. I feel I can't carry this inside my backpack, because I feel that the screen will not stand any banging around. It just feel too fragile.
Sure it'll last if you don't expose it to any stresses, but what's the point of having a netbook then.
My other one, an Asus 701 is far more rugged, but I don't like it because of the puny screen and crappy keyboard.
I use mine to take notes in class so it travels with me, gets stuffed into my backpack with all my textbooks. Sometimes REEEALLY stuffed, at least on Tues and Thurs. I've not had one problem and I've never thought twice about it. Asus might be more solid but the Wind isn't a fragile little toy. The amount of times I've almost knocked it off my desk, then slammed my hand down on it to keep it from falling, that says to me it's not fragile at all. Don't know if yours is defective but mine is fine.
it is pronounced like that... in Taiwan. I've called the help centre once(Canada) and checked online, and that's how they pronounce it, I was like wtf... So it's not pronounced like Pegasus, but yeah... asoose... =_=
Aspire One sucks, poor build quality, attracts a lot of fingerprints and looks plain ugly. Also with the Wind it's easy to install Mac OS/X, try that on an Aspire...sigh
man, do some research and figure it out yourself, are you really that indecisive you have to ask people on a Youtube comments forum? You're buying a 500 dollar machine, don't rely on random strangers 50 word answers. touchpads suck in general, i'd rather just hook up a mouse. I wonder why they never caught on to the track ball style , i remember the older toshiba sattelites had the track ball and it worked alot better than the touchpads

If anyone who has had a desktop with an MSI motherboard should be able to tell you that thier products are dodgy, Thier lifespan is around 20 - 30% less than gigabyte or asus. Not saying the Asus is any better but i wouldnt touch anything from MSI. And yes im a computer tech who runs his own IT business and shudders everytime he comes across a faulty msi board.
32-34 seconds (according to a review I just read). Try Googling "MSI Wind reviews" and you will get more information than posting queries on this site.
Gaming laptops are terrible, you have to use them on a desk (defeating the the purpose of a LAPtop) because of the heat generated, the graphics cards are slower than their desktop counterparts, and basically more expensive and less upgradeable. Most people that buy these devices already have a desktop.
I disagree. Although it is a bit more comfortable to use a gaming laptop on a desk, it is fully capable of being used on your lap. Being the owner of a gaming laptop, and a college student I can attest to that considering I use mine on my lap all the time, and the heat generated isn't that much, although it is more than a subnotebook, it isn't like its extremely hot...
Then again, different laptops dispense heat differently, some get hot as hell, and some are cool. Gaming laptops aren't terrible, they're good if you want a portable desktop replacement but if your just checking email, and using myspace, why pay for a thousand dollar laptop, than a cheaper laptop that does what you need?
If you dont want your warranty to be void, you have the register your msi, and secondly, this is only available for UK customers and only for ram upgrades, I do not see anything about upgrading your hard disk.
Also the void sticker covers a screw hole, which you need to unscrew to open the panel. There isn't a sticker on every single item on the motherboard u noob. Seriously if u don't know what ur talking about then don't talk crap. Have a look at the video's of people opening their wind!
I just bought my wind notebook and I loved it instantly, the webcam is so clear, it has bluetooth, it 802.11 wifi ready and what I like most about my wind notebook is that the actual size of the keyboard is 95 percent of the full querty, unlike other notebook commputers, the keys are not too small so you wont be pressing two letters at a time during typing.
The clicker is one bar that's pivotted in the middle, unlike the seperate buttons you get on 99% of notepads. The EEE PC has the same single bar clicker and it's useless. You have to click right at either end. So she's spot on to point that out as a flaw.
she obviously wasn't intelligent enough to change that setting before doing this video. Or smart enough to realize the right click isn't in the middle of the freaking clicker bar.
Will the higher end model be available with Linux? I really don't want to spend hours on the phone trying to get the refund for Windblows that I am legally entitled to...
For me, with wi-fi and backlight turned down about halfway, I can get 4.5 hours or so on it. I haven't really tried it without wifi or with backlight all the way down, but it'll be more for sure.
They come in Black, Pink (which im getting cause my girlfriend will like it :D), silver, white, and for a limited time. Baby Blue (Though I think this is only being released to the American public.) Can't wait to buy one. Honestly, though it does lack an optical drive, its ok~ 32 GIG usb sticks which I have most of my images on. Demon tools rock ^.^
