  • How is the guitar tuned? cuz it doesnt sound like standard tuning

  • @freakingirwin Drop D (low E string tuned down to D, otherwise standard tuning)

  • @rednebb im sure: do you use fat gauge strings? as chrome flatwound string?

  • @ersemola No, on this guitar it's regular .010's..

  • @rednebb axon dont give you wrong notes cause from natural harmonics?

  • @ersemola It can, if you're not careful and play very clean and accurately. And of course the pickup and the guitar also need to be properly set up to optimize the performance. In general, the Axon is considered "best in class" when it comes to tracking and accuracy.

  • @rednebb thx. can you tell me, how many space there are between the gk3 and the guitar strings "when are pressed at last fret" ? thx again

  • @ersemola I've removed the GK3 from the guitar now, but I think I had it as close to the strings as possible..

  • @rednebb ok thx. a question:someobdy told me that chrome strings are more mellow, so more mellow produce less harmonics.. can be this right? then, wich would produce less harmonics, thin gauge as 0.42 0.9 or big gauge as 0.56 0.13?

  • does each string have to go to a different distortion?

  • @spaceshipable Yes, I guess that's the way it works technically.

  • Amazing boss man. Makes me wanna do more

  • Pretty cool, but where's the fugue???

  • @DBSpenser It's here: youtube.com/watch?v=afldH1gkkCw

I also have a full "normal" electric guitar version of Toccata and Fugue on my solo album "Axe-Files", read the full video description for more info

  • @DBSpenser Sorry, wrong link.. Here's the right one: youtube.com/watch?v=afldH1gkkCw&NR=1

  • best version so far. Bravo

  • @sashaconfidential Thanks!

  • Do you know where to find a copy of the score (for guitar) or did u just go off the original score for organ?

  • @freakingirwin I used a piano sheet music version originally, but I've also downloaded the organ version from the internet, you can find this several places, for instance on the free-scores website. If you're looking for guitar tabs, you can find many versions on ultimate-guitar for instance, but I don't know how good they are (I haven't tried them..)

  • this seems so far away for me to learn..fantastic job, very inspiring.

  • @taurbaby Thanks!

  • shituuuuuuuuuu#

  • SUPER! Cool!

  • THIS - - - is what Bach really had in mind, and what he wanted to achieve. The only reason he didn't was that the technology simply wasn't available in his time period.

  • @ArmyJames

youtube needs a thumbs up x10 to the 2000000... for your comment lol

  • great video.

  • greatgreatgreatgreat!!!..i'm trying to play this but it is very hard!! and all the tabs on the web are not good, have u done some tabs? if u don't want to public can u send me a pm pls? or if u have some references... i'm going crazy, thx a lot.

  • @0verdark Thanks! No, I don't have tabs, sorry, I used sheet music myself.

  • Very impressive work....I've been playing 45 years, i don't play this type of genre but do respect talent when I see it, and any genre.....I'm an old Fender Telecaster guy, more into James Burton, Jeff Beck, chicken picking type of stuff.

Again, phenomenal playing....you have a gift......

    William

  • Bravo! I can't even imagine the 5 who gave you thumbs down....

Curious? How long did that take you to work out?

    Wiliam

  • @wolverine7196 Thanks! Well, I actually have played the Toccata part on and off for almost 30 years, but I hope I've improved and play it better now than I did 30 years ago.. ;-) But when I decided to also record the Fugue part (see my other videos), which I hadn't played before, I had to practice this for maybe a month or two.

  • @rednebb

Very impressive.....I've been playing about 45 years, I have an old Tele and Esquire, more into the James Burton, Jeff Beck, chicken picking style, also open tunings on the acoustic but truly appreciate all genres of music if done with style.

Watching your video, you made some big time finger stretches.....You have a gift......

    Be well.....

    William

  • @wolverine7196 Thanks!

  • Amazing!! Just amazing! Bravo! One thing that I really respect is that you try to play this piece of music as genuinely as you can and that's a very hard to do.

  • @AhavaRabboh Thank you, I appreciate that!

  • I commented on your video a couple years ago but i just had to say that still to this day I have never heard anything like this and I think your just a complete genius how you came up with that tone. The sustain and overtones your getting are just awesome, it just really sounds alive, such great technique as well a magnificent interpretation of this great piece.

  • @spakattack Thank you very much! The GR-100 is a unique unit with a unique sound, like a cross between a good old fuzz pedal and an analog synth. On my new solo album I also have a new, full version of the Toccata and Fugue using only my Axe-Fx Ultra, please check it out if you like ;-)

  • Simply GREAT!!! You're my new hero!

  • really cool!...I love that song, and you playing that in the guitar it's really awesome!

I'm guitarist, and I have some videos myself too... if you have some time, check it out on my channel...

  • @ludguitar Thanks!

  • 5 guys are fucking idiots!

    Nice greets

    Uli

  • Geez in my pants, this song blew y mind

  • The Five Stooges deaf

  • @rednebb Hi, I made reference to the 5 people they did not like your video...I think it's one of the best I've seen.

  • @silversurferVSL Hehe, ok.. ;-) Thanks!

  • 2:08 All these years Bach was giving us the finger.

  • @pivotgurl ;-)

  • Pure genius!

  • WOW! Thanks for posting this.

  • @CobHatecrewNor Yes, it is, from the late '70s I think. I've owned it since 1980.

  • awesome!! the best tocotta, ive ever seen or heard!, where can i get that tab or notation displayed at the end..? please...

  • @stratcat70 Thanks! I bought it from an old sheet music store some 20 years ago, but nowadays you can download it from the internet, just search for it and you'll find mnay versions you can download for free. You may find tabs also, but they may not be accurate.

  • WOW! dude thats pretty awesome. Keep Rocking! :D

  • @ssaloha123 Thanks!

  • you are awesome dude. that whas very good :D!!!

  • Great playing! I have the exact same Roland GR505 guitar in the same colour - with an old GR100 unit too! Any idea if I can get hold of an old 24 pin connector anywhere and what the guitar and pedal are worth these days??? I did get a 24 pin cable from a shop in London but it doesn't seem to work (I know it all worked fine before with the original cable which has gone missing!! )

  • @dunkfall Thanks! Cool, there are not too many of these around anymore, I guess.. Have you tried ebay? And I know there's a guy named Wayne Joness (yes with two s-es..) who has a dedicated website to guitar synths, he has collected a lot of the old Roland gear and has also created his own improvements and stuff. And I think there are also forums for vintage Roland GR stuff, you can try to get help there.

  • @rednebb

Thanks for all the suggestions - I had previously been in touch with Wayne and following his advice, I have just changed 2 capacitors in my GR100 and low and behold - the whole rig works again with the existing 24 pin cable I previously bought! Thanks again and keep rocking!

  • @dunkfall Cool, have fun with your Roland!

  • absolutely SENSATIONAL! :D Nice to see some decent gear too instead of the usual crap people use :)

  • @unriselyrical Thanks!

  • Wicked!

  • as an organist and guitarist, that was to a T my friend. well played.

  • @bmacz28 Thanks, I really appreciate that!

  • Tøft!

  • whoa, who knew that Randy Couture could kick so much ass when it came to playing guitar.

    awesome job!

  • my goodness!!! that takes a lot of talent!!!

  • Amazing!!!

  • Amazing !

  • @TheNiNGuitarist Thanks! (It's not a Hagstrom, but a Roland..)

  • wow - can you be any MORE of a true musician??????? Congrats.

  • @bobpflueger258 Thank you very much!

  • dritbra Ketil! Brought out the goosebumps. Tenk å få fyre opp ett stack i Nidarosdomen, og så dra den de a..! :-)

  • @janludvigsen Tusen takk! Ja, det hadde vært noe (men spørs om domorganisten ville likt det.. ;-)

  • That's straight out awesome! Great musicianship.

  • @johnsonbat77 Thank you, I appreciate that!

  • could you give us the tab please?

Mine is a little different than yours ;)

  • @Patounet76 I don't have tabs for it, sorry..

  • A great Job!!!

  • 1:10 impossible

  • @XInFramesX Not impossible, just a little bit difficult.. ;-)

  • @deathroundthecorner2 No, I used sheet music

  • FUCk!!!!!! xD xD xD yujuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have not words to say what i feel.Specjali this moment ; 1:05

Man, you are grate and Incredible. Greetings Form POLAND.

  • @MormOO Thanks!

  • exellent !

  • I wish I had played like you;)

  • like someone said in one of the comments "i wanna kiss his head" lol

  • @BoundInChains ... I'm flattered ( I think?..) ;-)

  • Eddie couldn't eat the &&^&* out of this guy's #$#&! GREAT JOB!

  • I am convinced that if Bach would live these days he would write the same BWV 565 on electric guitar and Ketil would play it. Poor Bach, his choice of musical instruments was limited and he didn't even have decent band for himself.

  • @seungcahn ;-) Yeah, that would be something.. Thanks!

  • This is superb tbh. Was a big fan of your Canon Rock arrangement previously. I usually prefer to see this piece on an acoustic if its being done on guitar, as most people overdo the distortion and just try to place fast for the sake of it, but you've got a great sound going there (A given, considering how much equipment youve got there, but impressive nonetheless) Good job :)

  • @SimonWasAlreadyTaken Thank you, I appreciate that!

  • Awesome man, you should do the Fugue too

  • @HipHopPianist Thanks, I have done the Fugue, check my other videos..

  • this is pure awesomeness!!!

  • OMG ... Eddie and Ygnwie eat your heart out!

  • oh my god your hands could sell for millions i know this a lot to ask but can you write a tab for this and send it to me plz

  • Thanks, but I'm not to keen on spending many hours doing that, sorry.. But if you search the web, I'm sure you'll find several tab versions there, check ultimate-guitar for instance.

  • yeah i did find one not as good as yours tho

  • i realy love this version!

its exactly what im looking for

  • Do you have notes or tabs for the way you play it, i can see you use some smart shortcuts that the tab-writers on the internet havent seen, and i simply cant find notes for guitar at all... I think you play it very well btw, nice job

  • Thanks! I used sheet music, a piano arrangement, actually.

  • Oh My God That, Oh Shit That Was Fantastic, Oh Man OOOOOHHHH Great 100/5

  • Oh man... You are just great !

  • Can you be my teacher? hahah

  • Rednebb: this is what I call craftsmanship, your version sent chills to my ear, thanks for this piece of beauty!

  • Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment!

  • Great job !

  • Is this Dropped D?

  • Yes..

  • hello. 1 question.. is possibie with the axon ax 50, or ax 100 mk II, to use 2 sounds togheter, for example a piano and strings togheter (in the same fret i mean). thx

  • Yes, the AX100 has several presets with 2 sounds together.

  • thx... so 2 instruments in the same fret yes? ah and, if i connect mk II from a midi cable to an usb to pc, i will have latency? or is better to buy an ax 50 that has the usb, and i will have not latency? thx...

  • Yes. There might be some latency, but that will depend on your midi interface, software and the computer itself, not the Axon.

  • thx, so axon ax 50 and mk II, are totally the same, as quality translation note, tracking, latency ( 16 ms if i good remember), yes? so better for me to buy MK II that with 100 euro more i can to have more sounds, arpeggiator... yes? thx again.

  • Yes, I think you're right about that..

  • on the one hand the sound is strangely and on the other hand the sound is awesome.

  • Hehe, I know what you mean.. Thanks!

  • Thats fantastic. Never heard that piece on a guitar.

  • Absolutely love this - thanks, brilliant !

BTW I have a G505/GR300 setup which I LOVE - they are so versatile. I need a new cable if you know of any sources.

I got some info on making one but still not entirely sure if it's possible.

  • Thanks! Cool, I would love to have the GR300 too. Have you checked Wayne Scott Joness' homepage? He has made a special website about Guitar synths, especially Roland models. He knows everything about this stuff, and he also makes and sells parts, I think.

  • звук пиздатый

  • Very great adaptation, congrats!

  • Suuuper!

  • I liked alot. :D

  • Great, thanks!

  • Råkult!!!

  • du er en gitar gud, hvorfor er du ikke kjent?

  • Hehe, ja si det..? (hehe ;-) Takk i alle fall!

  • Dude, ur house is loaded! I see all those guitars and cases back their XD Do u own a shop?

  • Hehe.. No, I just love guitars.. ;-)

  • Thanks! Its a very nice electrical guitar performance of this music piece by JS Bach.

  • Wow I like it a lot without the synth. you should complete this one too. It would be nice to learn the whole song.

  • That is some blistering guitar playing, crazy talent!

  • Excellent. Exactly how Mr. Bach would have made it sound if the electric guitar was invented back then...

    Probably.

  • Thanks, I hope so.. ;-)

  • hello. i have a question...

if i use my guitar, with a midi pick up and a midi converter, do you think that i can use it with the sampler? i want to use the sampler for to capture a sound, and to use it on all my keys of guitar, so that i dont have to buy many synthetyzer modules.. thx

  • Yeah, I guess that would work. Haven't tried it myself, though

  • holy mother.... your fx-board looks crazy..

    very good vid. thx alot

  • seems better than original

  • What can I say, totally amazing!!

Thanks for having the time to add all the technical bits in the info panel as well, most folks omit this and it really helps :)

  • holy shit, your amazing........

Is there any chance you could send me tabs, or tell the site you got it from?

thanks, and im speechless right now LOL

  • you should play in a power metal band

    you are crazy man

you play really good and no mistakes

  • amazing skills =)

the california guitar trio did sometihng like this too. is this the same arrangement, or is this the standard arrangement? o_o
