  • Wouldn't it be impossible to crash land one of these? Because of the design of the propellers?

  • do u need a helicpters license? and how much is that thiing?

  • Cool vid!

  • I have been wondering about this possibility, how brilliant is this guy ???.

This is the future ! you only have to add wheels under the floats & you've got the perfect mode of transport. Maybe with stateof art batts.& electric motors....who knows

  • This makes a very economical observation alternative to the helicopter.

Would be perfect for a county beach/recreation area safety patrol with a modest budget.

Do you see any training/technical concerns to avoid such things as preventing a negative G maneuver that causes the rotor to contact the pusher prop for instance.

Is it practical to mount a ballistic recovery chute on top of the mast, above the rotor?

    Excellent video, thanks.

  • gyroCOPTER

  • Actually the FAA calls them GyroPLANES.. Igor Benson coined the word GyroCOPTER in the 60's for his design.

  • how much? quanto costo?

  • @josephdupont Copter without floats, blades, or engine is $22,000 Rotax 582 is $31,000, Blades are $8,000, options like instruments radio etc $6,600. Add that all up it's nearly $70K for this lil single seater without floats.

  • @briansmobile1 Wrong...the sportcopter website includes blades for $22,801.00..

Rotax 582, instruments and radios are extra...but not that much...

  • @freightdog777 Either way.... potato pahtahtoh that's still a lotto! I'd opt for a Mosquito!

  • @briansmobile1 You sure that isn't $31000 with the motor. A Rotax 582 doesn't cost 31k by itself. Hell, I can replace my 172 motor for less than that.

  • @dfsbmc At the time of the posting those are the numbers I got. I tried flying one of these and the torque roll turned me off. I'm looking at doing the powered paraglider now. Check out Imasuper0308 here on youtube.

  • i would not ride that taco stand

  • That is scary! Lots of blades turning above and on the back. A Glider is safer

  • autogyro's are safer

  • are pre-rotators only used for take-off? not inflight or landing? can you take off without ever using any pre-rotator?

  • They are only used for take-off, but do not need to be used at all. the only shorten the time it takes to get the blades spinning.. I have on, but I keep it off my gyro and I hand-start my blades.. Saves weight.

  • ok. now i know.

  • this thing is truly awesome

  • No license for a 1 seater. But, for a 2 seater you'll need a sport license. I may be wrong about that but I think around January of 2008 2 seater ultralite aircraft needs to have the sport license.

  • Really great accomplishment. I just loved it.

  • Does any one know how much a Sprtcopter costs? Whats its speed? How high can you fly? Do you need a licence to fly one?

  • not a chance this is quieter than a seaplane. We've got a couple of sport copters on our field and they are way louder than any of the other aircraft or heli's.

  • Rotorcraft certification includes gyros, but I wonder if you actually need a license to fly it. This seems to have little in common with a helicopter.

  • very quickly startup!!!

  • Really very interesting to observe the behavior on water. Did you ever tried to have a combination of floats and wheels?

  • how much do you think that weighs? oh well I would love to have one.

  • So graceful, must be a real pleasure to fly.

  • go you need a pilots licence for one of these?

  • depends

  • You would nee a sport license at minimum...

  • If it weighs less than 255 lbs. dry and has a fuel capacity of 5 gallons or less, it's considered an ultralight and you don't need any form of certification.

  • This is the new Bass Fishing craft, now making the boat obsolete. Fly into your favorite fishing hole and fly out in time for weigh in! Much easier and Quicker! Ha Ha Ha!~

  • how much would such a machine cost.. looks really, really neat.. and two seater versions?

  • you already did

  • awsome!!!

  • That's truly amazing. It looked like your forward speed was only 4 or 5 mile per hour at lift-off. Am I right? Gyro's hover ability and maneuverability always blow my mind too. What make/model is it? I have got to get one of those! Thanks for sharing!

  • SportCopter. It can be found on the web. Yes, depending on your headwind, takeoffs/landings can be very short. Gyros actually canoot hover, unless they are flying into a head wind that is equal to, or exceeds the gyro's forward air speed. But they can fly very slow.

  • Thanks. I'll look it up. Happy flying!
