The last time such horrible stuff came was in the 60's with the Rat Pack. It all died with them because of how truly racist and cruel that kind of show was: minorities AND whites began to object. The dark side of East Asia does not deserve to be mocked on the BBC. The kids who commit suicide deserve compassion, not stereotyping. Japanese kids need scholarships, not a sucker punch. In Korea, kids get sent to the hagwon (cram school) after school where they get yet more homework. They don't get much time to be teenagers. They are stuffed like an Xmasturkey day in and day out; 4 hours of sleep is not uncommon. Asking for help is admitting weakness or inviting criticism for laziness. Creativity is crushed when outside the box thinking is heavily discouraged (and exhausting when you already have so much to do.) Groupthink has a high premium.
