  • I for one prefer the Wii version. Not only because of better graphics, but mainly because of the voices. Now I can listen to the cutscenes and do something else at the sane time without thinking "WTF are they saying?!"

  • Would have been better with less voice and more sound from the actual game.

  • @TheGreenReaper Um, my voice kind of needs to be there for the review to work o.o

  • @LeonSKennedy828 My point was that you spend a lot of time telling us about the music and sounds but you don't actually let us hear them. Many reviews mix the game audio with the reviewer's voice for this reason.

  • @TheGreenReaper The review is already a quarter of an hour long, that would be awesome to add, but it would make the review too long.

  • I think Klonoa, Hewpoe, and the graphics as a whole were a lot cuter in the original. The final scene seems to be a lot better in the first one, in my opinion, because of this, and the fact that you see Klonoa struggling more instead of just Hewpoe's distraught face; and then of course there's also the fact that the scenery also adds to the dramatic emotion of the scene, what with the wind blowing with more of the dust kind of being sucked in, and the gray sky, and it just kind of looks better.

  • The most likely reason that you liked the original ending to the game is that klonoa and hewpow are depicted as children and they talk in there cute jiberish language.

  • Here's what I don't get:

The Klonoa Wii Game let's you play with every wii-controller setup imaginable including classic pad but NOT Super Mario Bros WII????!!!! :/

  • @SamuraiThomas That never made any sense to me either, the same goes for Donkey Kong Country Returns.

  • Another complaint that you didn't bring up: Ghadius, in his boss fight was anticlimactic. I expected him to be at least as difficult as the Joker. You have a point though, he should have also been the one to kill Klonoa's Grandpa.

  • haha your right, not to brag or something but i can easily play this game whitout dying once...

  • why does it look like a sonic character

  • @simsgirlgem EVERYONE makes that comparsion. I see it as more of a homage to Sonic than anything else though.

  • @LeonSKennedy828 okay okay don't blow a gsket until I found this I never even heard of Klonoa

  • just bought this for 6bucks wii version, :/ this game is really one of those underated hidden gems.

  • @zebure Indeed, the Klonoa series on the whole is CRIMINALLY under rated.

  • O yeah sorry for double posting

But they really destroyed the endings and cinematics of the Original Klonoa on the PS1I saw the Wii version and wtf I know they cant do HD but Klonoas ending are what made the most impact and as the credits flowed through the book you really nostalgia on the levels even though it was just 4 hours ago.

  • I lol'd when you compared this game to resident evil and tbh this game was made 1997 and this game was just pretty much a remake because there were alot of fans for this game. I guess you can say It's like taking an old picture and giving it a new frame.

  • @tarapapi I compared its DIFFICULTY, and I was trying to get across how pathetically easy this game is, which alongside the under developed storyline were my 2 biggest problems with it, however much I loved it.

  • >:(

  • ...What???

  • well, it just seems as though you are stuck on the whole joker thing. When I played it, it didn't cross my mind for some reason.

I was frowning over the use of the F word, considering the people who this game is aimed at are under the age of ten or preteen girls.

OH! and what were your thoughts on the English voice over?

  • The F Word?! The F word was never used in this game once :S

And it's a criminally under developed storyline even for a game aimed at kids, I'm going to point out instances where the plot is lacking.

And the voice acting was awful, I used the Phantomile voice option.

  • the reason this game can't really be judged by todays standard in general, is, when it comes down to it.... its just an exact remake of the PS1 game, same music, same length (it was a PS1, so the length was not that big of a deal...)

I feel this game should be bought be every fan of platformers, simply because the klonoa series never sold well, and if it sales, then we might see a third one which will be even better...

  • But it is classified as a new Wii game when ya buy it, and I wasn't that hard on it besides the lacking story was I?

  • One thing though, this game sold like piss, so we shan't likley be seeing the Klonoa 2 Wii remake or Klonoa 3 :(

  • yeah its a new game when you buy it, but you still do have to keep in mind thats it not going to be mind blowing revolutionary...

yeah... its sad, I don't understand it... why don't these games sell? they always get good reviews (well, the one on the PS2 was better... but it didn't sell either)

    I don't get it...

  • I would put it down to most gamers being into shooters, action games etc these days, but Klonoa (PSone|) was released LONG before those games became as dominant as they are, so I have no idea why it didn't sell.

And I didn't expect it to be revolutionary, not at all, I just expected a slightly better plot to be honest.

  • even when everyone is into shooters (except a few people like me) why did all these other platformers sell? to name a few: NSMBW, all the mario games, a boy and his blob, wario land shake it, de blob... I could go on and on... obviously, this update was done on the wii because thats must people that still play platformers are... but it STILL didn't sell?

  • Well NSMB Wii was GUARANTEED to sell well, Mario is basically a staple of the gaming industry, it's a name that essentially prints its own money.

But a Boy and his Blob, Wario Land: Shake It (or The Shake Dimension as it's known here) weren't that succesfully commerically were they?

  • well, a boy and his blob wasn't... it is just about as bad as klonoa sales wise...

but wario land shake it, that game sold pretty well... and de blob... I see what you mean by mario being gauranteed to sell...

their are the sonic games, but they are just about the same as mario when it comes to publicity...

I think the reason a boy and his blob, and klonoa didn't sell well, is (similar to what you said) all people want today is gore, sex, and "maturity" in video games...

  • I do love mature games as well, I'll admit it, there's an abundance of them these days.

  • I don't mind mature games really... but the reason for them is people got tired of platformers (I don't know how thats possible... but) then other games got popular...

the tides will turn again... probably in the favor of platformers...

  • Really? I don't see the tide even beggining to turn away from the what it is for quite a few years at least, to be honest.

  • yeah... I didn't say it would be soon, haha...

we will probably see mature platformers though later though...

  • Well, we kind of already are, the Uncharted games are a hybrid of platformers and shooters and they're quite mature in terms of subject matter.

Hell, we have in the past actually, Conker's Bad Fur Day anyone?

  • yeah... we should be getting a lot more in the future when people get tired of FPSs though...

  • I love FPS's, but again I do feel there is an abundance of them in this day and age.

  • I don't mind FPS's, but there needs to be more platformers...

the way the marketis right now... it worries me, because I am getting into "inde" game development... and I am obviously going to make platformers....

  • iv noticed that many wii games compared to like N64 fell a little more 'dumb down"/ easy idk why, mabey for them to appel to more younger/beginer players

for example supermaro galaxy seemed EXTREMY easy(but still fun) compared to SM 64 which seemed more of a challenge

*just my opinion of coarse* =)

  • That statement could be applied to alot of games though, gaming on almost a whole has gotten much easier over the last 5-6 years or so I've noticed.

  • that does not apply to this game though, because the PS1 game was just about as easy...

  • Not quite true, you had ALOT less heart points, and if you look at the Evil Seadolph (sp) battle, the gap in the floor is filled in on the Wii version.

  • not QUITE... I said just about, I have not played the Wii version, I have played the PS1 version, so I don't know all the details... but it can't be THAT much easier overall....

  • I think the reason why it was more moving in the PS1 version was because they actually switched to cinematic position as supposed to the Wii version, where the ending uses the non-rendered game graphics engine. More importantly (concerning the English VA), Klonoa doesn't sound 75% angry when he's sad...

  • I never used the English VA, he was a TERRIBLE voice for Klonoa, he sounded way too old and could not emote for shit, I used the Phantomile voice option so my comparison was based on that.

  • klanoa's whereing a pac man hat well on his hat it looks like pac man

  • It is a Pac Man symbol =P Namco made this game and they also made Pac Man so...yeah XD

His Klonoa 2 hat also has one.

  • i had this game on the ps1 it was really fun to me i was like 7

  • I played a demo of it back when I was...damn, can't remember the age but I would have been under 10 years old, but that was all I ever played of the original version.

  • klonoa 2 was better

  • I've only gotten up to the Ishras Ark level on Klonoa 2 (the Playstation 3 crashes the game mid stage so I cannot complete it) but from what I've played of it so far it is indeed a better game than the original, however much I loved it.

The story isn't mindblowing in Klonoa 2, but it's FAR superior to the storyline in this game, I had several huge beefs with the original's plot as I made quite clear in the video.

  • the same thing hapend to me it was at the part at Ishras Ark when you try to boost youreself on the platform. then I did it on the ps2 and I had no problem so the ps2 works better on those games. you should play it on the ps2 and you can play the whole game whith no crashes.

  • Yeah, I plan to. I plan to get my PS2 back from my sisters for a little while just so I can play and complete the game.

  • i think it was sader ps1 version because you coult see how huepow reallly want her to stay he was falling ove and it was much slower u could see the compasion in his eyes thats why i think a lot sader

  • what was the first boss of RE5 i forgot havent played in it a while

  • It was Uroboros, well, an easier one, but still

  • brilliant review mate!!

  • awsome video

  • LOL sorry :P

  • ok thanks

  • nice review but is the game good?

  • I answered that at the end (unless you stopped watching when I got into spoilers)

  • "The sound that he makes when he's dying or running out health is also cute..." I like that.

  • Ill fave now and watch later as i don reli have the time to do it nw :)

  • Um...cool ^^

  • Your great at reviewing and unboxing due to your humour and how you have a lot to say on your videos.

    Keep them coming <3

  • humour? I never really use humour in my videos o.o

What amused you, out of curiosity?

  • like the way you swear and say "shit wheres my knife" etcetc, ive always found people that do that humourous :P

  • Hewpoe looks EXACTLY like Mega Man.Like copyright infrigement status.

  • You mean in his human form? Come to mention it, he does o.o;

I wish he'd stayed as a ring spirit though, he was cute in that form.

  • Yeah I thought he was cuter before his human form too.

  • Did u get a capture card? Also, what's you friend code on Pokemon Platinum?

  • Nope, I don't think my TV has outputs so I can't get one =( This is footage I downloaded from elsewhere

  • Aww crap sorry but there was a spoiler in my comment I forgot to say!! Sorry! lol

  • Don't worry about it, I'm sure people will figure the comment contains spoilers from where you mention Joker surprising you

  • Wow, That Joker guy suprised me! When you first started talking about him I thought he'd be the kind of Silly clumbsy oaf that is just there for a laugh, But then he bombs an old mans house Killing him in front of his Grandson?? Thats a bit over the top!!! That would kind of be the LAST thing you'd expect from a character like that!!

  • Exactly, there was no reason shown, nor explanation given for this sudden character change, and it never came up again which made it feel like it was thrown in at the last minute.

  • Love the review ^^

  • Awesome review, best review of a video game story I've ever seen on YouTube. ^^

  • *SPOILERS IN MY COMMENT*

In regards to Joker, when was it established that he never had a darker side to his personality? You would never have suspected Hewpoe to have been manipluating Klonoa, but he was

  • I dunno, with Hewpoe it was a sudden twist, but with Joker it felt rushed. We spent alot of time with Hewpoe so the shock/twist would work.

  • u gonna buy klonoa 2?

  • Yes, most definatley, however I'm not sure if I'll buy it off of Ebay on PS2 or wait to see if they announce a Wii version if this one sells well.

  • I beat this game in a mere 2 hours.. but I love Klonoa though.. a whole new Klonoa adventure would be great. =)

  • yeah, hopefully with the difficulty bumped up and some improvments to the story, unless Klonoa 2 already did these two things (I can't comment, not played it yet)

  • first comment lol. good review!

    peace

  • cool
