There's every difference between some Christina Aguilera pop singing shit, & some blues singing. Them spirituals is us
Rhyming only been around for 30 years, it ain't like nobody was real before then. That blues/spirituals stuff was our Hip Hop before Hip Hop. Ain't no contradiction with having that shit on a track. Hip Hop is just the evolution of that shit in the first place
Mofos be talking this reppin hip hop shit, & they don't even know what it really is
What difference does it make if it's a sample or not? It's still singing, and when it's a sample, it's actually RZA that incorporates it in his "tunes", he doesn't do that when there's a singer singing on the track, so you're making no sense. Does the names Tekitha & Blue Raspberry mean anything to you? Ever listened to OB4CL? Cus if you have, you'd know there was singing in his "tunes" back then to.
Tbh i didn't mind Blue Raspberry on Raekwon's debut, maybe i worded myself wrong i dunno it's just my choice of Hip Hop, we all have different tastes at the end of the day!
To Yobachi2007, don't come here preaching to me that i do not know anything about HH because i will blow you out of the water everytime....
Well, if you didn't mind it B.R. or All So Simple or any other of the earlier singning, I guess we can agree that your initial statement that when RZA started incorporated singing his production started slipping? Cus if we don't agree, his production has been slipping since he first came out and I really can't see how it's about singing..
n.i.o. gang starr, dr. dre, rza, gza, killah priest, jus allah (not necessarily but, lyrical beast), lupe fiasco (i can't believe you forgot him!!), m.f. doom, masta ace, nas, reef the lost cauze, shing02, substantial ^^^ artists, if you want groups let me know zz.
Im talking producers with a decent tracklist that also Rap (have solo albums). Half of these guys are not producers. Try again. I did forget M.F. DOOM though. Gang Stars a group. Premier doesnt rap. LUPE? Tell me some tracks hes produced for others. He isnt an established producer. GZAs Ok. Nas isnt even a producer smh. The rest are more underground rappers. LAST but not LEAST I cant believe we both forgot Q-TIP. Also....Any haters who gave me the thumb down, how about you post a better list.
hard to compare... such different styles. each donated different things to hip-hop in the early 90's. No doubt tho, New york was holdin' down the 90's

Rza, ill MC but for me this is where he started to slip on the production front bringing singing into his tunes like this was Hip Hop suicide.
Phat beat though....flame on!

If you knew me in real life i am so critical of my Hip Hop, it just has to have that certain sound for it to prick my ears up!
I've been into HH for like 25yrs so i just know what i like and dislike :D
aphex187 2 years ago
They've had singing in their tunes since their debut album(Caaaan it be that it was aaall so simple, babe?), so WHAT?

His production started to sleep IMO, put this track up against anything on Gza's Liquid Swords joint and it will fail every time.....
The Bobby Digital album was just totally horrid, tbh it was a joke.
