Dr. Thoma, thank you very much for the great HD quality lectures, been very useful to me, ive been watchin some of the lectures, not all yet, do u know in which lecture can I find lesson about the VAR VECM?
Q: "Thanks, Professor. Excellent stuff! Are there any videos on the lab sessions too?"
A: @doge82 Unfortunately, no. Lab sessions focus on applying concepts discussed in these lectures with statistical software. This course uses EViews, but STATA is also a good program for Economics regressions. How-to's for both of these programs can be found on the software websites and in general forums.
@markthoma Are there any specific math courses I should be taking as an undergrad student in preparation to do serious work in econometrics and game theory? Thanks
@ICarnag3I I would guess ..Linear Algebra, Probability and statistics... Regression... Calculus.
Maybe it's all changed now! Also read good macroeconomic theory as many of the younger economists over here seem to have a poor grasp of general economic relationships. Read your input- output theory! Best of luck!
Regression is used to forecast the future nevertheless some of the variables are missed and that complicates what will happen in the future just like the Macroeconomics.
I have been watching your 2009 fall videos. they were awesome. you are now back with the 2011 version. keep up the great work Professor and thanks for the uploads. They were inspiring.
I would like to say that it's really easy to follow your lectures. I wish I was taking your class instead of my current teacher who's not clear enough. Have you ever taught by a chance EC420? I am positive that those videos could help a lot for many beginners students in econometrics from around the world.
Thank you, Professor for posting your lectures for public observation!
