  • not too familiar with fleetwood mac's music but holy shit the last half of this track is totally amazing, talk about total control

  • Lindsey has his own guitar style and few do. Syd Barrett with Pink Floyd and the Edge of U2 are the only others I can think of that did something so unique albiet Syd gets first place and I guess Robert Frip should be in there as well.. Hendrix , Clapton , Beck , Page are genius too ,but perhaps they are a bit more blues and Jazz oriented. I realize of course they did some way out stuff too , but I would say the 4 mentioned first and maybe David Crosby made up a new style. Andy Summers too.

  • The guitar solo. *__*

  • 3 people have no music in their soul...

  • I can't believe I found this! I was going on 21 years of age and drove up to Santa Barbara by myself: with a prayer and no ticket. Slept in my car and scored a ticket the next morning! I was near the front - stage right. Was a great time - though I don't think Stevie remembers it - she was totally wasted.

  • we've all been there

  • unbelievable!

  • lindsays self taught guitar is so refreshing That girl aint bad either

  • did the crowd really understand what they were witnessing??

  • @gggordanus This was my first concert I saw as a kid. And yes, we did understand what we were witnessing. If by that you mean extremely well played and sung music. They were at the top of the carts selling, oh, what did we call those things back then, oh yea, records.

  • Best live guitar solo ever....

  • Oh... So amazing. So amazing

  • I would have to argue that while Buckingham may not stand "toe-to-toe" with Clapton on guitar (who would?), he's a much better producer/arranger than Clapton and arguably a better song-writer

  • i get chills every time i hear this :) glad my parents listed to this stuff growing up :)

  • I wonder why I come back to this great performance ....... because I just love love love love it

  • one of the best les pauls ever made right there

  • Is there an mp3 of this version anywhere? It's soo good.

  • @nebby39 google "youtube to mp3" and use the first link

easy cause its DIY, but its only as good as the audio feed on the vid

  • incredible

  • for good times and bad times in your life need FWM evertimes in this room!

    best regards enno de bruyn

  • My Favorite Fleetwood Mac song xD

  • I was Born in May 1976, I wonder if I was born before or after this show. WoW what a Song!!

  • Great memories , thanks for posting.

  • Love this song. Having work issues right now, Lindsey's paon to fear is comforting.

  • As a guitar player of 20+ years and somone lucky enough too have seen Fleetwood Mac "live" in the "old Cleveland Stadium", I can honestly say"...Thank you Lindsey, you have become part of my "guitar playing heart". I can still hear your guitar solo in the upper registers of the guitar, ringing out in the evening night,. An evening I will NEVER forget as long as I live. I praise The Lord that I was able to experience this magical moment!

  • a classic moment in rock history right here

  • Lindsey and Stevie's harmony on this song is fantastic.

  • is that mick jagger @ 4:59?

  • This is the way i remember fwm before they suited up and got tame. raw energy

  • @orlygr1 Raw, cosmic energy, my favourite side of Fleetwood Mac.

  • good perf unfortunately the sound quality is really mediocre... this is the reason why i don't put in my favourite... old bands and music are disadvantaged by the passing years and the old technology...

  • @BohemianConspiracy shhhhhhhhhh.

  • fleetwood mac rocks...great 70's song...amazing guitar work by Lindsey Buckingham with Mick Fleetwood banging those drums baby!

  • GEANT....36 ANS MAIS GRANDIOSE.....

  • " ROCK ON MAN!!"

  • Looking at Youtube it seems like this is the best Fleetwood Mac video by far, even though the quality is a bit harsh. This really captures the feeling of the 70s and just how awesome Buckingham was.

  • @calamagrostis88 absolutely true! I can never stop seeing for years and for me that`s their best live version of this song.

  • Awesome, I cannot believe I found this video here! I was one of the fortunate ones that was in the audience for this, ahhh such memories!

  • i saw this live in msg in 97 and it was incredible and i didnt want the song to end been a fan of lindsey ever since

  • Where could I buy this live performance ?

  • Lindsey is truly one of the greats and he is very under-recognized for his talents. There are, of course, many who recognize his skill and talent but he never seems to make it on anybody's "all time" list even though he deserves a place next the greats.

  • tremanda joya ........primera vez que la escucho .....fascinante

  • I was there, really. Stayed at Gramma's down in Ventura. Holy crap live in the front.

  • @slueth88 Lucky you!!! I was 9 years old... damn! I missed it ALL!

  • I think this is the best Lindsey ever looked

  • Feicin brilliant!!!!!!!! Bring back the hair, the jeans and the originatly of ot all...

  • I slip and I fall and I die, into Reaganism. This was song of how we failed to stop the igorance.

  • OMG,

    who is this,

they might actually have something here,

    ;)

  • I remember seeing Fleetwood Mac, maybe summer of 1977. I thought I was going to see Stevie Nicks, but I was mistaken - she was fine but Lindsay was amazing. I only saw them one more time, but the second time I knew I was going to see a superior guitarist and entertainer!

  • Yea, Lindsey hasn't gotten the credit he deserves as a guitarist at all,and great vocals too.

  • this is among the best live performances ever done...EVER!!

  • Fucking amazing. I fall in love with this song over and over again. His voice is amazing in this song, their perfect together. I wish Fleetwood would have made more songs like this.

  • TOTALLY BRILLIANT .............LOVE THAT GUITAR LINDSEY

  • cool tune

  • This is killer!

  • Only heard this for the first time recently, yet the year on this is the one i was born in. Makes me wonder what else I've spent years missing.

  • this version is from an other planet or so this band was so tight back then

    awsome

  • I'm So Obsessed with this song

  • I saw them on this tour. Amazing.

  • Gosh - how awesome is this video ? - John McVie's Bass line really makes the song, I think,

  • LINDSEY HAVING A MUSICAL WANK AND MAKING EVERYBODY ELSE FEEL LIKE THEY WERE BEING CRUEL IF THEY DIDN'T SAY NICE THINGS ABOUT HIS STYLE... ALSO MY RECOGNISABLY BIMBO PARTNER TONIGHT IS NOT A SHAG PIECE , SHE LOVES ME FOR THE POET i AM...

  • @rideronthestormdrain

stop shoutin i'm not deaf yet

  • This what 1970 is all about having fun in the sun and jamming to some good music, all the negativity hiding about, pay no mind and confident strutters

  • I saw Rhiannon from the same concert of Rosebud (but the live version). Copy URL /watch?v=lhzn6tLO_WA and look in 6:55

  • Anyone know what the crowd count was at this concert? Thanks.

  • Yea this version is great but check out this song on the Mirage Tour '82 which is, in my opinion, the very best version as Lindsey puts all the feelings he has with regards to the split from Stevie into the song and really rocks it.

  • I loved this one in Miami Vice!

  • ...And THIS folks, is why this is my ALL TIME favorite song..Even edging out Gimme Shelter by the Stones.Presence, power, and possibly the greatest guitarist of all time.A true song of impending DOOM.Saw Them twice, with my rubber ducky plastic guitar near front row back in 97...AIR GUITAR HEAVEN.My dream_LIVED.

  • It would take an american guitarist such as Lindsey Buckingham to turn around a traditionally British rock band. Aside from that, Mr. Buckingham is definitely an underrated guitarist, mainly because most folks know he's got the talent, they just don't usually mention him amongst the elite. They'll realize one of these days.

  • @milwaukeeblue

    Well said.

  • If Mic ever had doubts about letting Lindsey into the band...... yeah. The man rocks it here. Im sure not many would admit it, but he was not a bad step up from Green. Look at the time period he was in; origional.

  • He and Knopfler from the Dire Straits, Slash, Santana and Prince are my top 5. I dig Clapton, EVH and Hendrix too, but Buckingham has his own persona behind a guitar. I mean watch him tear that Les Paul up the way God intended!

  • Awesome live version of an awesome song. One of FM's (and Lindsey's) best!

  • Good stuff! A nice concert in the bright sunshine.

  • Wow, he looks like a rockgod. Love the

passion with which he performs his songs.

  • I wish i was there, i went to their concert in new zealand last year and its something i will never forget, best time ever! but would have been so cool to see them back in the day, lindsay is the man! they are all legends in their own way.

  • Lindsey Buckingham is an incredible guitarist!!. People just seem to want to rank old blues guitarists on the greatest 100 guitarists etc i.e Green, Clapton, etc. They are great guitarists but before making comments on technique people should pick up a guitar and try and travis pick on electric and acoustic like Lindsey Buckingham. His originality is what I love he does not do what all the blues guitarists from the 60's and 70;s do and that's why he is my favorite.

  • Oh yeah...

  • 02 May-1976, University of California, Santa Barbara Football Field, 4:30 PM

    Rhiannon

    World Turnning

    Over My Head

    I'm So Afraid

    I was there!!

  • @israelfwm You were so Lucky!!!! I wanted to see Fleetwood Mac in 77' But my friend couldn't get tickets for them. So he got Procol Harem tickets instead!!! Man was I disappointed!!!!!

  • Yes... procol harem sucks!

  • @jamilh1 Funny, the travis pick was not the first thing that got me attracted by the way Lindsey plays, but the epic melody of lead and solos like from this clip. The way he sounds here is almost godlike!

  • buckingham eats clapton for breakfast. green was damn good.

  • @holden3643 Buckingham kicks ass but realistically he would lose if he tried going toe to toe with Clapton

  • This is my favorite version of this song because of Stevie's backing vocals. I wish this was available on mp3.

  • search "turn youtube videos into mp3" and make your own if you want..

  • holy crap dude thanks. color me stupid. i had no idea you could do that. I'm gonna make an mp3 of every version of this song.

  • Oh Lindsay's cool!

  • Fleetwood Mac - Over My Head e I'm So Afraid (Live Rosebud, University of California, Santa Barbara Football Field, May 1976) , rare and cut footages. This complete filmage of this show exist?

  • not in rock music-blues maybe

  • yeah the rare self destruction of a musician-do you suppose alcohol could be involved? Peter Greenwas a greaat guitar player... so are/were Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, George Harrison, Eddie VH, Carl Weathersby, BB King, I could name 100 more-lets enjoy what we have.

  • I wouldn't say that Green's overrated at all, he was highly talented regardless of the way his life turned out later on. I just think you either like his style or you don't. Simple as that.

  • yeah it's weird how fleetwood mac was a totally different band when he was in it.

  • mick taylor as well

  • pure magic.

  • I like the Peter Green stuff and the Buckingham/ Nicks FM too - don't see why you have to be on one side or the other. Just appreciate great musical talents - the styles are quite different.

  • nice comment-thanks!!!

  • you want to start naming great British musicians? wake me up tomorrow about noon-you will be 1/2 done.

  • @emmyvic22 i agree...art is not about a competition...true music lovers dont spout negativity about any artists work...everyone has a value ...even those of us who only listen...

  • I think LB is ranked around 140th out of 200, but yes imo he should be higher up. When you see someone like the Edge in the top 30 and Rory Gallagher not on the list at all it begs the question. What happened to Peter Green and Danny Kirwan was a huge tragedy - Mick and John never forgave the illuminati German scumbags for what they did. At least Rolling Stone mag hasn't forgotten how great they originally were though, easily one of the all time greats.

  • You think you know what's real (there's a massive difference) - Peter Green is rated by his peers as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Rolling Stone mag ranked him 38th on their list of greats. Although I'm a big Lindsey Buckingham fan, where is he on that list.... no where. And by the way I'm from Ireland, I couldn't give a crap where anyone is from - talent is talent - So wake the fuck up before you go spouting your mouth off and quit assuming things.

  • when did rolling stone start covering relevant topics. good place to buy blush and eye liner

  • Do you have some kind of hatred of Peter Green? I find it hard to understand what you're saying. I'll put it down to lack of musical knowledge and intelliegence, or a bit of both.

  • you should have written 'you're' and i am aware of who is on the video by the title, lindsay's distinctive guitar playing and stevie nicks on backing vocals. you are sub-human. happy christmas x x x

  • If you want to believe that, you go right ahead.

  • * if Stevie and Lindsey didn't join lol.

  • I don't want to get into a Green Vs the present Fleetwood set-up (which I both love). But to say that Fleetwood Mac would hardly be known if Stevie and Lindsey joined is over the top. Peter Green is arguably the greatest British blues guitarist ever.

  • WOW !! I'm realy happy this person stuck this on a hard drive. I don't think the tape would have held up any longer LOL.. Awesome !!!

  • So? What if I had been watching the video for "Oh Well" w/Green just before this (a very likely possibility, at that!)?

And no, I wouldn't say B/N eclipsed the Green era "ten million fold" commercially or critically. Ten-fold was more accurate. As Nang3 said, Green had them charting *very well* worldwide everywhere but the US. Yes, the US matters a lot, but it isn't everything. T.Rex, Roxy Music, Kate Bush and Blur are (rightfully) legends everywhere but in the US, as well...

  • They were already a massive act b4 both arrived - Green was a superior guitar player and Kirwan was a legend. I love what Lindsey and Stevie brought, but Greens Fleetwood Mac were technically untouchable.

  • peter green had them charting very well world wide retard

  • 3:50 for anyone that is confused and thinking Fleetwood Mac is "pop" band. Wow..

  • That may be true in the United States, but not in England, where they had four top 5 hits (including the #1 "Albatross") and three top ten albums during the Green era (including the outstanding "Then Play On"). But, in spite of all that early success, there is no question that the Buckingham/Nicks era eclipsed it ten-fold.

  • twat

  • You must be right :). But I'm not very objective, being a huuuuge Stevie fan. To me, she always sounds great. I know I'm wrong haha.

  • Fuking great solo.

  • Lindsey's amazing. I love his voice here, and the solo, God, great underrated guitar player ! And when Stevie and Lindsey are harmonizing...it's just breathtaking !

I'm so afraid has always been an awesome live song, but, yeah, it was better in 76 than today. Still great.

  • Your right Jpferg31 Lindsey's NO Peter Green.. Thank God! Lindsey's SO much better!! LOVE this song.. love to hear him play this live.. my fav. part of the set!

  • Fleetwood Mac were the only band at that time whose music was grand enough for stadium rock, yet intensely passionate and personal in a way that no other slick stadium rock act of the period could ever hope to achieve. This performance epitomizes that...Buckingham really manages to summon dizzying astral heights and yet pierce through earthly pain in such a moving fashion; this has always been one of the greatest rock guitar solos ever.

  • God damn that rocks! The beating those drums took during the last 0:45....

  • Lindsay Buckingham is an amazing guitar player. I don't think anyone can deny that. But I just can't help but say that he's no Peter Green

  • i love the solo !!!!!!!!!!!1

  • AWESOME!!! I love to playit on the guitar!!!!

  • Magic.

  • Great

  • Why didn't they write more songs like this? Such a badass song.

This song is up there with the Peter Green era stuff.

  • Thank you very much for posting. It's great to see them playing at their peak and Lyndsey is pure genius on guitar what a solo - sends chills down my spine!

  • I wish i was there!.. even for the guitar!. Awsome!. Soon the concert in belgium!..

  • The intensity on this one is off the chain. No pun intended!

  • This is a great version of this song. I also like the version on The Chain 25 year Box Set.

  • My 3&2yr old grandsons Love FleetwoodMac. I saved it on Soundstage from VH1 and my 2 yr old would say grandma fleetwood Mac. He does the whole air drums and air guitar thing .Sad to think that in the years to come when he's 20, Video's are all he's gonna have to be able to see Fleetwood Mac. Give my grandsons some cool video tunes Fleetwood Mac :-).

  • GODLIKE

  • good song when you've given up and wanna have an inspiration to die further!

  • They kicked this song's ass in Columbus.

  • lindsey covers this on his HD concert on DTV Comcost FiOS etc

33 effing years later. too bad the great Stevie didnt age as well, but then whoo does?

  • "an't help but feel that the subsequent drama which fueled Rumors also took away from some the potential that Lindsay had to become a true rock superstar just like Stevie became."

I agree that Lindsay's name is not quite the household name that Stevie's is, he still has a very dedicated group of fans who have stuck with his career.

I quite him solo last year and he absolutely incredible. There are plenty of us who recognize his talent.

  • I've been on a FM kick lately watching all of this footage of them on youtube and I don't know much about this Rosebud concert but there is a vitality and and edge to their performance at this gig that surpasses even the other amazing performances of theirs. Can't help but feel that the subsequent drama which fueled Rumors also took away from some the potential that Lindsay had to become a true rock superstar just like Stevie became.

  • see unstoppable 3rd version better clarity

  • catch my drift? at 3:50?

  • Greatest guitar solo hands down!

  • fm is my favorite group...and it's vids like this that remind me why.

    lindsey is a beast

and stevie is awesome as always

    they are all great

  • Wow. For a few minutes it felt like '76 - '77

    again -- what a rush.

  • This is sooooo cool. I just saw them in Ottawa. I am blown away by how hip these guys looked then.... and now.

I have a recording of this song on my page. The audio is pretty clean. I had to gate and compress it a little.

  • From the same concert?

  • lindsey is fucking awsome. an i even listen to death metal but i still dig lindsey's style...no pick and everything...way under rated but one on the best.....

  • i have watched this video no for 30 times i think and it's still getting better and better, man man, the guitarsolo is outstanding, i known the song for about 32 years but the sound of this version is BRILLIANT !!

The seventies where really the best years .... glad to enjoy it over here !

  • For everyone under 30, I bet that's not what you expected when you saw FM in the title, eh? These guys were full of power in the early days. Somewhere along the way they lost that edge... Gloriously intense.

  • Pfft, no, I'm 21, grew up on FM, and just went to their concert.

  • Good lord, that was brilliant.

  • This is THE footage. From the Rosebud flick I believe.Only thing is they don't have a live version, complete anyway, of the song Dreams.Damn Lindsey looks awesome.

  • I'll check my DVD for the completeness of Dreams. You could well be right.

  • Great post, but I wish someone would put the studio version up too.

  • Why? Have you not heard it?

  • Yes, I just prefer the studio versions so much more. I guess because I get used to it sounding a certain way for one thing, but when something is live, it's played differently, and usually is so loud that the instruments and vocals get drowned way out . I attended many concerts in the 70's and those were mainly about ambiance, and getting high, but for listening I prefer the studio versions. Some bands do live really well. It's just my opinion anyway.

  • Each to their own. I'll agree to some extent, but this version is just so... powerful (especially in comparision to other live version of the same song, from the same ra by the same band).

I personally think the studio version is spectacularly dull, which I guess is why it's been such a hit live.

  • As I said the concert experience is electric and spontaneous, but the acoustics of the individual musicianship is lost due to the overpowering amplification versus in studio where the performance as a whole is practically perfect.

  • @firevswater69

agreed, this is a ten compared to the 3 on the album. so good here!

  • @virtualstrangers60 studio versions tend to remove the emotion from songs that i like but fleetwood mac live makes one appreciate studio versions. seen them live before and they were average, at best, live.

  • Unbelievable! What happened to rock the past 30 years?

    Where has the feeling gone?

After that, listen to Pink Floyd Echoes live in pompeii, part 1, when Gilmour hits his strat!!!

  • Next Thursday they invade Vacnouver on the 26th of Feb! hahahahaaa

  • buckingham is a guitar god. soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo underrated

  • You are SO right!!!

  • Lindsey is still as hot as he was in 76!

  • He's got to be one of the most underrated guitarists ever. What fantastic phrasing & tone! I love it!
