  • MAN, I am not waching close enough. I have not even brough up the jeans, the white belt, or that hat. I am sorry.

You have my most sincerest of apologies

  • @Northernblades Dude, you have the worst attitude towards climbing. If you walked into any climbing environment with so much negativity not a single climber would want to climb with you. Not one.

  • @grasseater108 I have no problems finding people to climb with. I walk into a gym in another city, and by the end of the day I have several invites out to local craigs that I never would have found. When I find other people out climbing who want to climb with me, Most eventualy understand, and respect the fact that I insisted on belay testing them. I have a line up of new climber, just itchin to put up with my crap, for the opportunity to climb with me. you have no clue.

  • @Northernblades Oh okay. I didn't know that. I'm so proud of you. LOL

  • the best view of his knot is roughtly 0:20-0:30

  • The rope over the shoulder trick, I have seen rarely, and seldom amongst formaly trained climbers.

The rope around the neck trick, thats new to me.

The belayer is standing too far back from the wall. for the entire time you can see the belayer and as you pointed out, he stipped the last draw.

As we have tried to say in far too many words, A terrible example, of everyting, and such behavior would likely get him a warning, or removed from the gym.

That knot would not pas belay test

  • @Northernblades Not sure what you mean here...i have seen people use the rope over the shoulder lots of times while clipping the first draw, it brings the rope closer for clipping. You imply the 'rope around the neck' is dangerous, but the rope is not attached to anything and barely touches his neck. The rope leading to the belayer runs straight down, so in the event of a fall, the force will only pull up, like its supposed to be.

  • @Northernblades And skipping the last draw isnt a huge deal because the route is overhanging....if someone were to fall near the end the swing is safe. Are you just trolling climbing videos looking for things that are wrong?

  • @blinkbiker87 sorry i just noticed he skipped the second last draw and the top out, this is indeed dangerous. But really the only dangerous part of the video

  • @Northernblades it is also clear that you are not ignorant, nore a troll, and thus I would be interested in sharing experiences, and Ideas.

  • @Northernblades That's really all I have to say about this, dude. Thanks for reply.

  • PS at 35 secconds, his LAZY and or retarded belayer, should have moved closer to the wall, so that if his climber fall, he would get to keep his nadz.

  • If you can not understand, you are not trying hard enough.

Virtualy no extra rope after knot,

I have never seen anyone lead with rope over shoulder,

the Knot itself is a DISATSTER, not sure if it is a variant of a doubble Bowline. However I have never in 10 years seen a gym accept that.

The only thing that would make sense is if this were his first lead ever, AND he had recieve no guidance.

Next I would like to see the quality of the belay, as I can assume, it is done just as poorly.

  • @Northernblades As for rope over shoulder, people start their leads with ropes over their shoulders all the time. The only error I see is the rope was over the wrong shoulder. When you get to your first clip your rope is right where it should be, you don't have to drag it up. Makes things safer and more efficient on the first clip. And it's only like that at the beginning of the climb.

  • @Northernblades I know you don't lead. Otherwise you would've picked up on the only true safety concern in this video. The climber failed to clip into the second last draw from the top. And that's more dangerous than any of the nonsense you outlined. But it was done intentionally in a controlled environment so you'd still be wrong. lol.

  • @grasseater108 Skipping draws, Especialy last draw, while trying to make a "cool video" is unsafe, but EXTREEMLY common. It is not accepted in gyms, but still I see it all the time. I will see, in excess of 200 skipped hangars this year alone.

that variant of that knot, I have never seen, nor will ever see again.

The rope around the neck trick he tried, I have seen very very rarely, and never by anyone with formal training.

  • This climber shoudlnot be leading, Based juston rope over shoulder at start, shows complete lack of ability or training. the planned fall at the mst poiless location was nice. but I can only hope this was a first lead, while supervised. by a stupid supervisor.

  • @Northernblades You don't make any sense.
