As a Korean, I really like everyone's spin on our country's food. I love your use of spices...we love it HOT. And we don't measure either. How did you get into Korean food?
monsansto, gen-technology and a couple of people's which eat like an harvester....the real knowledge is from us, not from the us habitants.
even the nasa was created with the amazing help of "werner von braun". another example is the aircraft engineering "boeing" which was founded by the soon of the german father with the surname böing which was in the usa already written boeing.
A couple things. Milk doesn't really do anything there. You could make arguments for buttermilk, but what you're doing either way is making a wet batter for the dry batter. Its fine, but its not really doing much. The bigger question/complaint I have is about frying them twice. The double fry is generally a bad idea (the temputure change causes a lot of fat to be absorbed that normally would be held out by the water pressure of steam being boiled out of the chicken. Play around with it. Nice job
Also, I'm not sure how into making videos you are, but your production value would go up 200% if you just had a big light for filming. It really helps. Cheers.
@roaminGMADNESS This was one of my early videos and I was really just playing around. Since then I have learned a lot about lighting, sound ect. Now I use a lot more light and better cameras. You are right about how a very small amount of additional light can really make a viedo stand out.
@roaminGMADNESS You should try the double fry thing. I know from what I have been told to do it is a bad idea. But it does make the crust really crispy. Also the correct way to make Pomme Frits is to double fry them.
@toulengvang Most of it buy looking at Korean websites and translating them with Google. (its a pain but it works). That is where I found to use ketchup. Using worcestershire sauce was my idea.
To the person who asked about using Panko. Sorry I hit remove instead of reply. Panko might work but I worry that it may get soggy in the sauce. But if you ate then quickly they would be fine.
although i have watched so many videos, this is my first time to make a comment haha..
I really miss KFC (stands for Korean fried chicken :) !! I used to eat 양념통닭(This is how it is called in korea) when i was in korea and i really miss it now omg ~~ i should try to make it with you video!!
Wow. You really know how to cook. What an unusual recipe, double fried in cornstarch, and then cook in that incredible sauce. Being from Hawaii and LA, I really miss good Korean food. I'll try your recipe, and will crack-up thinking about your southern accent. Thanks so much!
Great recipe! I find it humorous how koreans love spicy food! Hence the 3-4 ingredients of pepper, I found the ketchup quite random but hey if it's good people will eat it!
The ketchup does a few things sweet from the sugar, tang from the vinager plus tomato. I have done this without the ketchup using more sugar ect. Without is not as good.
It is a combination of things. One my experince eating KFC. the sauce is something that I came up with. Then I used tips I found on different blogs ect. Like doing the double fry thing.
I is supposed to add moisture and thendrize the meat. But I am not 100% convinced that it will. However this recipie turns out better when I soak in milk.
As a native Korean, I am very impressed and flattered that you are open-minded enough to try our cuisine, let alone cook it and then teach folks how to make it. The chicken looks amazing and my mouth is watering.
To honest I just went to Wall Mart and picked the bigest that the curcuit in my Travel Trailer could handle. Besure to get one with a magnetic cord. Then is someone snages the cord it unplugs and does not pull the fryer. That can prevent someone from getting burned with hot oil.
