  • dude, I love your accent making korean food. :-)

  • @artofcolor Thank you!

  • @powerplantop

As a Korean, I really like everyone's spin on our country's food. I love your use of spices...we love it HOT. And we don't measure either. How did you get into Korean food?

  • @artofcolor I was able to visit Korea when I was in the Navy.

  • @powerplantop Sexy voice ;-)

  • can you make "samgyeopsal" i dont know whether that was spelled right but would be interesting to see your take on it.

  • @arjuncht One of my early ones was Samgyeopsal. I will do an update to it someday.

  • man that looks so tasty! i bet it will go great with a nice beer. cheers.

  • @arjuncht Yes it does good good with beer!

  • you cook in korea?

  • @HamadHHAG No I cooked that in the USA.

  • Or, dont fry the chicken and get 6pack abs!

    Yeah for health!

  • how did you cook when the cooker is turned off? 7:00

  • the first rule of kfc is: you do not talk about kfc..... the second rule of kfc is: YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT KFC...

  • "go-chu-ga-ru" and "go-chu-jang" =)

good job with the interesting video!

  • @musical095 My wife has been trying to correct my Korean for 15 years.....LOL

    Thanks for the nice words.

  • Thank you!

  • I cant stop watching this video for some reason ITS GREAT!

  • ONEW!!! :) thats the first thing that came out to my mind.

  • @lollibob321 Thank you!

  • @lollibob321 LOLxxx ONEW??? hahahahahha

  • @lollibob321 Hahaha, me too :D ♥

  • A couple things. Milk doesn't really do anything there. You could make arguments for buttermilk, but what you're doing either way is making a wet batter for the dry batter. Its fine, but its not really doing much. The bigger question/complaint I have is about frying them twice. The double fry is generally a bad idea (the temputure change causes a lot of fat to be absorbed that normally would be held out by the water pressure of steam being boiled out of the chicken. Play around with it. Nice job

  • @roaminGMADNESS

Also, I'm not sure how into making videos you are, but your production value would go up 200% if you just had a big light for filming. It really helps. Cheers.

  • @roaminGMADNESS This was one of my early videos and I was really just playing around. Since then I have learned a lot about lighting, sound ect. Now I use a lot more light and better cameras. You are right about how a very small amount of additional light can really make a viedo stand out.

  • @roaminGMADNESS You should try the double fry thing. I know from what I have been told to do it is a bad idea. But it does make the crust really crispy. Also the correct way to make Pomme Frits is to double fry them.

  • Give me some it, pls~~~

  • hey this might be a dumb question. but why did u fry it twice? can't i do it in 1 go?

  • @nwijesinghe When you fry it twice it comes out more crispy.

  • @toulengvang Most of it buy looking at Korean websites and translating them with Google. (its a pain but it works). That is where I found to use ketchup. Using worcestershire sauce was my idea.

  • whats purpose of the milk in the pre marinade?

  • @samchon609 My Grand Mother said it keep it moist. Does it? I'm not sure.

  • What temperature is the oil?

  • @jcmusic1218 First fry about 325 second fry 350 to 360

  • There is no such thing is called Korean fried chicken, it's spicy or marinated chicken.

  • omg that sauce is beserk salty......

  • funny watching a white dude making this...the secret's out! powerplantop, do you have a favorite korean chicken joint chain?

  • @sakamuras My favorite one is anyone thatI am at! LOL I like that they are all diferent but I prefer the ones that sell beer.

  • damn looks good

  • O_O it will be extremely spicy :D

  • holy crap man. u making me hungry T_T

  • who's that talking in the background

  • This was shot in my travel trailer and it sounds like someone was outside talking.

  • KFC .. korean fried chicken. that made me laugh for some reason lol

  • oh! Yum! Watching this makes my mouth water:)

  • @powerplantop

What is the reason for soaking chicken in milk? sorry if I'm asking an obvious question.

  • It makes the chicken more tender and moist. I used coconut milk(not the juice).

  • I have to try using coconut milk that should be good.

  • try it, not only the chicken will be moisted, u'll get the good smell and taste from the coconut.

  • lol i laughed when he said KFC I was thinking Kentucky and then I heard Korean xD Nice Tutorial btw1

  • these are hella good..ive had them and they are the sh*t...Excuse me for my language...

  • Comment removed

  • puhahahahaa.... you chinese?

  • i wish there was fat FREE fried chicken.....

  • Cinematic, if you figure that out you will be rich!

  • Oh god i miss bon chon chicken they have a shit load of them in jersey aka fort lee. And in queens. Thank 4 the recipe Chef RULE!!

  • OMG! I live in the center of all this Asian action ;)

I go to Bon Chon Chicken all the time and it rules!

I think imma have to try this recipe! Thanks to powerplantop!

  • To the person who asked about using Panko. Sorry I hit remove instead of reply. Panko might work but I worry that it may get soggy in the sauce. But if you ate then quickly they would be fine.

  • You know, I bet this would be good with rabbit...I'm gonna give it a try. Then I'll have KFR haha

  • random, I bet that would be good.

  • although i have watched so many videos, this is my first time to make a comment haha..

I really miss KFC (stands for Korean fried chicken :) !! I used to eat 양념통닭(This is how it is called in korea) when i was in korea and i really miss it now omg ~~ i should try to make it with you video!!

  • Hazy, give it a try and let us know what you think.

  • My grandma makes the same kind freaking delicious but she uses a different recipe

  • This looks so good. Too bad I can't cook. *cries*

  • looks good.... theres a new korean chicken place called "vons chicken" you might have heard of it! its so good! they use gochujang too.

  • Wow. You really know how to cook. What an unusual recipe, double fried in cornstarch, and then cook in that incredible sauce. Being from Hawaii and LA, I really miss good Korean food. I'll try your recipe, and will crack-up thinking about your southern accent. Thanks so much!

  • Daisy, perhaps I should change the channel name to Redneck Wok! Hawaii has some good Korean food.

  • ketchup....lol but cool stuff

  • Asians don't use Ketchup and Worcestershire Sauce ^^.

Other than that, looks pretty good.

  • true, asians use soy sauce, and other good shit. gotta be alittle spicy too!!!

  • Koreans eat fried chicken with ketchup sometimes.

  • Yep haha

  • Hahaha, including myself. I've tried this Filipino ketchup called Jufran(banana derived spicy goodness)...it's nice, try it.

  • if your a real korean, you would eat chicken with gochujang

  • Not with fried chicken...well, I don't like it with fried chicken personally.

  • have you tried the new "Vons chicken"? a korean place

  • Um, no. I'm not in the States at the moment. Is it on the eastcoast?

  • I love banana ketchup on chicken. I also love the Thai sweet garlic pepper sauce!!!

  • banana ketchup?

  • Yooooo spicy jufran bannan ketchup.!!!!!!!

  • @blueprophet9 Vietnamese people do too. We like to mix the ketchup with hotsauce.

  • Sriracha 4 life, lol.

  • @blueprophet9 hell yeah haha when i eat chicken or fried meat i use sriracha all the time haha hella good

    azn ftw im mien

  • @blueprophet9 sriracha is the shit!

  • Great recipe! I find it humorous how koreans love spicy food! Hence the 3-4 ingredients of pepper, I found the ketchup quite random but hey if it's good people will eat it!

  • The ketchup does a few things sweet from the sugar, tang from the vinager plus tomato. I have done this without the ketchup using more sugar ect. Without is not as good.

  • where did you get this recipe did you make it yourself?

  • It is a combination of things. One my experince eating KFC. the sauce is something that I came up with. Then I used tips I found on different blogs ect. Like doing the double fry thing.

  • what does soaking the chicken in milk do?

sorry if that's a stupid question... haha

  • I is supposed to add moisture and thendrize the meat. But I am not 100% convinced that it will. However this recipie turns out better when I soak in milk.

  • So few views for such an amazing recipe. Those really do look amazing. I think I'm gonna give this recipe a go.

  • They look like the best thing ever i should make some!

  • so nice suuuuuuu

  • choco, glad to have made your day!

  • As a native Korean, I am very impressed and flattered that you are open-minded enough to try our cuisine, let alone cook it and then teach folks how to make it. The chicken looks amazing and my mouth is watering.

Thank you! You put a smile on my face.

  • looks delicious!!! gotta try ur recipe

  • Glad you liked it. Let us know how it turns out!

  • any recommendations on brand of deep fryer to get?? thx

  • To honest I just went to Wall Mart and picked the bigest that the curcuit in my Travel Trailer could handle. Besure to get one with a magnetic cord. Then is someone snages the cord it unplugs and does not pull the fryer. That can prevent someone from getting burned with hot oil.

  • jpaek, thanks for the kind words.

  • Great Job! Looks GOOD.
