Ok, how does talking and being on the internet, smartphones, and speed affect how good coverage is? The ignorance of AT&T is remarkable. The sad thing is that people who just go by visuals will be all for AT&T for making this extremely misleading commercial. Verizon is so much better and actually makes TRUE commercials. No offense to anyone who likes AT&T, but this commercial is just rediculous.
Veizon's commercial is a lie. They say that AT&T doesn't have 3G coverage like Verizon. What Verizon should have said was "You can't get HSDPA coverage everywhere" because those of you who know about wireless companies leasing lines know that you can get 3G anywhere Verizon can. The only difference is that the HSDPA coverage is not everywhere. HSDPA is a far better technology than EVDO or whatever its called. So the ignorance of Verizon "Visual Maps" (people who just go by visuals) is sad.
I know what 3G is, I know what HSDPA and HSDPA+ is, but I have NO CLUE what kinda bullshit you are saying. At&t's 3G is at&t's 3G, peroiod. And it sucks. Period.

I don't get it. The map isn't based on what the 3G network can do it is based on WHERE you can get this 3G coverage. So it wasn't fair to knock all those marbles off the map because that WAS where you can get service with Verizon. That is why AT&T never showed their 3G map on the commercials they just said that you can surf the web.

Verizon may have started these attack ad wars between AT&T and Verizon, but I also know and have read about alot of people paying an early termination fee to get out of AT&T too & the only real thing that is attracting some people to go with AT&T instead of Verizon is the iphone which Verizon plans on getting eventually as well which will definetly hurt AT&T even more & there are even former AT&T employees who resigned from AT&T since they couldn't hack all the complaints from customers.

AT&T sucks! LOTS of drop calls, and the poor customer service. When someone spammed me with text message ads, I called them for assistance, only to have them argue with me for 1/2 hour and they did nothing. AT&T HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OUT OF ALL THE CARRIERS!!

This commercial always makes me smile because they think they can bring in customers because they (1) allow you to surf the web while being on the phone (which I probably wouldn't prefer since they have suckish coverage and would drop your call while you're on the internet) and (2) have the best smartphones and fastest 3G network (which has suckish coverage, therefore failing the purpose). So AT&T is saying they have the fastest 3G network. Since they're coverage is bad (I was a customer, I know), that speed is meaningless. Also, they claim they have the most popular smartphones. Yeah, the iPhone, but that's it.

@ xtremehairman - We have already deployed HSPA software to all 3G cell towers, and this year we will be deploying backhaul connections to bring 7.2 fully online, laying the groundwork for LTE. The backhaul deployment is already underway in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, LA, and Miami.
i have both Droid and iphone and i am sorry to say. Droid is way too slow in loading pages and apps. Iphone 3Gs is really fast despite having less coverage by AT&T.
I have the droid and I find that the download speed fits my needs. I just tethered my droid to my laptop, bridged my laptop to my xbox, and played on xbox live with minimal lag.
So now im going to drive up to lake tahoe with my brother and his friends in his jeep and we are going to play modern warfare 2 online in the car. :DDDDDDDD

Or maybe your boss called and wants you to check your email immedately and your not near a computer at the moment. I second that @yuskjr, Verizon is still the best which I know for a fact since I myself am a Verizon customer and love it plus Verizons customer service treats you better than AT&Ts does and they're smarter at Verizon than AT&T is. Verizon is really good in my opinion. I went to a huge underground salt mine in Kansas and in the deepest point I was able to get total 3G coverage while my friend's iPhone 3G's speed was the crawl of Dial up trying to download a movie.
If all this hype on this AT&T attack ad against Verizon is so true, then why does my friend who is an AT&T wireless customer constantly keep dropping calls from her AT&T cell phone while my Verizon Wireless phone still holds a strong signal and doesn't drop nearly as many calls as my pal whose with AT&T. I don't call that having AT&T a better 3G experience, so get your damn facts straight on that AT&T.

verizon and sprint run on da same cdma network when a sprint phone roams it goes to verizon lines and vice versa fast cdma not slow gsm like tmobile and att its a fact look it up or put roaming on ur dads phone and dial *2 it should go 2 sprint customer care but since ur roaming it will say "welcome to verizon" why do u think the iphone is only able to work on att or tmobile? cuz its a gsm phone. compatible with the world like dial up. not every1 can get broadband yet point is da future is CDMA
It's not too bad. Afterall, verizon's 3G isn't much faster in most areas where at&t offers 96% 2.5G(EDGE) coverage in the nation. I say it's about 1 to 2 secs faster per minute....depends on your hardware too. iPhone 3GS is extremely fast compare to any smart phones.

The ability to talk on the phone while surfing on the web, the iPhone and the unsubstantiated claim of having the fastest 3G network doesn't mean crap when your network is terribly unreliable and when the 3G doesn't cover a fifth of the area that Verizon's does.

Okay people. Advertisement involves a lot of smoke and mirrors, and little white lies. Each company puts on a commercial that will contain points that range from somewhat true to completely untrue. It's how they get customers. Personally, I'm happy with the company I have, I only can't get service in the town near me where nobody gets service and in the interior rooms on the library at my college (which i'm sure everyone else has trouble with). This debate is pointless since both of them lie.

Sorry guys all of you dissing at&t are idiots. My family had verizon before and there coverage sucked. getting on the internet was impossible, downloading things was impossible. The only thing verizon has going for them is they have more places where they cell there phones and on top of that it's cheaper to put verizon out in stores then at&t. I have the old iphone with edge still on it and my phone downloads things and gets on the internet faster then any old shitty verizon phone.

@Jedijettson - Verizon doesn't have 3G everywhere... as a matter of fact, I originally had Verizon and was frustrated with the horrible connection in my area. I moved over to At&t and it has been very reliable. Verizon and At&t claim that each of them have better 3G Connection... but the truth of the matter is that they go into 3G Cell Phone Tower Leasing Plans... they share most of the same cell phone towers (which they rent from other corporations) it depends strictly on you area.
This commercial doesn't even make sense. All the things he's saying have nothing to do with verizon's 3g coverage map, yet the map starts to fall apart? ok at&t...
Ok, how does talking and being on the internet, smartphones, and speed affect how good coverage is? The ignorance of AT&T is remarkable. The sad thing is that people who just go by visuals will be all for AT&T for making this extremely misleading commercial. Verizon is so much better and actually makes TRUE commercials. No offense to anyone who likes AT&T, but this commercial is just rediculous.

Veizon's commercial is a lie. They say that AT&T doesn't have 3G coverage like Verizon. What Verizon should have said was "You can't get HSDPA coverage everywhere" because those of you who know about wireless companies leasing lines know that you can get 3G anywhere Verizon can. The only difference is that the HSDPA coverage is not everywhere. HSDPA is a far better technology than EVDO or whatever its called. So the ignorance of Verizon "Visual Maps" (people who just go by visuals) is sad.

I don't get it. The map isn't based on what the 3G network can do it is based on WHERE you can get this 3G coverage. So it wasn't fair to knock all those marbles off the map because that WAS where you can get service with Verizon. And don't you think it is ironic how the FTC banns commercials from totally lying...so why do you say the Verizon Commercials are lying? Because they are not lying. Verizon may have started these attack ad wars between AT&T and Verizon, but I also know and have read about alot of people paying an early termination fee to get out of AT&T too & the only real thing that is attracting some people to go with AT&T instead of Verizon is the iphone which Verizon plans on getting eventually as well which will definetly hurt AT&T even more & there are even former AT&T employees who resigned from AT&T since they couldn't hack all the complaints from customers.

Don't you notice, both Commercials mention either AT&T or Verizon and no one else. This commercial always makes me smile because they think they can bring in customers because they (1) allow you to surf the web while being on the phone (which I probably wouldn't prefer since they have suckish coverage and would drop your call while you're on the internet) and (2) have the best smartphones and fastest 3G network (which has suckish coverage, therefore failing the purpose). So AT&T is saying they have the fastest 3G network. Since they're coverage is bad (I was a customer, I know), that speed is meaningless. Also, they claim they have the most popular smartphones. Yeah, the iPhone, but that's it.

@ xtremehairman - We have already deployed HSPA software to all 3G cell towers, and this year we will be deploying backhaul connections to bring 7.2 fully online, laying the groundwork for LTE. The backhaul deployment is already underway in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, LA, and Miami.

I have the droid and I find that the download speed fits my needs. I just tethered my droid to my laptop, bridged my laptop to my xbox, and played on xbox live with minimal lag.
So now im going to drive up to lake tahoe with my brother and his friends in his jeep and we are going to play modern warfare 2 online in the car. :DDDDDDDD

just to put this in perspective;
there are 19,355 cities in the US, and AT&T only covers 9,400 of them; that is less than half.
AT&T covers 97% of the PEOPLE in the USA, not the LANDSPACE; big difference..
in the major cities; there is little difference in network capabilities, but outside major cities; AT&T is awful. the coverage is spotty.
AT&T is faster than Verizon, but if you can't get service, that speed is meaningless..
*lesson; go with Verizon, these commercials are stupid.

It's just means that you can have your internet running uselessly as your phone is glued to the side of your face.

Verizon is really good in my opinion. I went to a huge underground salt mine in Kansas and in the deepest point I was able to get total 3G coverage while my friend's iPhone 3G's speed was the crawl of Dial up trying to download a movie.

If all this hype on this AT&T attack ad against Verizon is so true, then why does my friend who is an AT&T wireless customer constantly keep dropping calls from her AT&T cell phone while my Verizon Wireless phone still holds a strong signal and doesn't drop nearly as many calls as my pal whose with AT&T. I don't call that having AT&T a better 3G experience, so get your damn facts straight on that AT&T.

verizon and sprint run on da same cdma network when a sprint phone roams it goes to verizon lines and vice versa fast cdma not slow gsm like tmobile and att its a fact look it up or put roaming on ur dads phone and dial *2 it should go 2 sprint customer care but since ur roaming it will say "welcome to verizon" why do u think the iphone is only able to work on att or tmobile? cuz its a gsm phone. compatible with the world like dial up. not every1 can get broadband yet point is da future is CDMA

It's not too bad. Afterall, verizon's 3G isn't much faster in most areas where at&t offers 96% 2.5G(EDGE) coverage in the nation. I say it's about 1 to 2 secs faster per minute....depends on your hardware too. iPhone 3GS is extremely fast compare to any smart phones.

The ability to talk on the phone while surfing on the web, the iPhone and the unsubstantiated claim of having the fastest 3G network doesn't mean crap when your network is terribly unreliable and when the 3G doesn't cover a fifth of the area that Verizon's does.
I bet even the ATT execs who give the green light for these dumb ass commercials have a different network's phone because they can't stand getting calls dropped every 5 minutes.

Okay people. Advertisement involves a lot of smoke and mirrors, and little white lies. Each company puts on a commercial that will contain points that range from somewhat true to completely untrue. It's how they get customers. Personally, I'm happy with the company I have, I only can't get service in the town near me where nobody gets service and in the interior rooms on the library at my college (which i'm sure everyone else has trouble with). This debate is pointless since both of them lie.

Sorry guys all of you dissing at&t are idiots. My family had verizon before and there coverage sucked. getting on the internet was impossible, downloading things was impossible. The only thing verizon has going for them is they have more places where they cell there phones and on top of that it's cheaper to put verizon out in stores then at&t. I have the old iphone with edge still on it and my phone downloads things and gets on the internet faster then any old shitty verizon phone.

@Jedijettson - Verizon doesn't have 3G everywhere... as a matter of fact, I originally had Verizon and was frustrated with the horrible connection in my area. I moved over to At&t and it has been very reliable. Verizon and At&t claim that each of them have better 3G Connection... but the truth of the matter is that they go into 3G Cell Phone Tower Leasing Plans... they share most of the same cell phone towers (which they rent from other corporations) it depends strictly on you area.
