Ah, the never-ending Hmong Vs Miao debacle. There is no clear or universal concensus therefore we all are left to make our own decision/conclusion on the subject matter. Whether Hmong or Miao, just accept who you are and try to be a better Hmong/Miao where ever you may live holding fast onto what you have be it inherited, learned, or institutionalized. Tej zaum yeej yuav muaj ib hnub peb yeej yuav zoo xwb raws li kev vam meej.
@sebastiantao, its okay to feel that way but when you want a group of people simply leave what they know as a culture as something they have to hold on to, it is never that easy. You are not the only one who feels Hmong traditional are old and should be let go, but I tell you what, there will come a point in life where we long to associate with those who are similiar to us.
@sebastiantao Our clothes are our identity and without it our children will be lost like many already in America, but no one is stopping you from moving on to what you think is right.
it's strange because i once read that b4 china hmong could have possibly originated from even further north from siberia.i thot that was kinda interesting.but i do believe that hmong people came from elsewhere further back than china.because even tho thats the furthest back they can remember or trace their roots from, the whole history of them being in china, they were stil foreigners.if they originated from china they wouldnt b foreigners n the 1st place. *just my thoughts*
Oh ya Hmong came from else where but, we know for sure that we've been in China for the last 5k years. There is a Hmong legend that mirrors Hercules, but only one difference there no Medusa in the Hmong version lol. I think I have to recheck the legend since I haven't herd it in ages.
actually, a lot of the shots you can see in this clip are from the DONG minority areas such as the villages of Zhaoxing and Chengyang. the MIAO and the DONG are in good relations with one another, yet, they don't like to be confused. although sharing several cultural features, their crafts and architecture display consistent differences. examples are the so-called wooden drum towers that can be seen in every DONG village, while the MIAO are characterized by their silver jewelry.
Vang Pao Hmong/Mong are blessed, because we've had the opportunity to emmigrate to countries with plentiful opportunities, like U.S., France, Australia, Canada, U.K., and French Guiana. I was myself born in a Thai refugee camp, but I only lived there 5 months before coming to the U.S. (and now I'm a naturalized citizen).
For all that matters, Vang Pao Hmong/Mong in first world nations should use their opportunity to learn about their roots and appreciate their history.
Hmong American already found their root he is called Jesus a Jew (not hating just example) with new found light that can care less. If you ask them they would tell you Jesus is our lord and call you a devil worshiper. Not even knowing their true religion and not caring for it either. Hmong religion is shamanism and Confucianism they are both used interchangeably, but as far as Hmong Christians are concern I'm a blood sucking devil. So why would they sear for something they hate?
Well whatever Hmong people want it to be. I know that I'm not Shamanism cause I can't do the thing cause I'm not posses by spirits and go into the neither realm. But in my house confusiansiam is set up and ancestrual worship occures every year during thanks giving. so call it what you will I guess :)
Most of religions that can be taught and be certified are all hauks. They are mostly man made. Hmoob don't organize religion to have power. Hmong religion is the truth. Shamanism can't be taught and certified. Only the chosen ones can do the rituals.
Even bible said that you should not believe in an idle God. Weren't Jesus, Alah, Buddha, and so... were all idles to people? "Religion is to protect the dumbos, and the law is to control the smart ass'.
I like what you said about Hmong Christian. They would call you devil worshippers. But you can tell them that Jesus could raise dead people to live again that make him the person who knew of evils. "Yes Sus Txawj Dab Heev", yog muab txhais ua lus Hmoob. Jesus is the devil in Hmong.
It goes both way. Not all Christians call people who don't believe in Jesus the Devil. My honest Oppinion, I don't care if your a shaman or what so ever. Whatever works for your family. This Christianity and Shaman will never come to an end. So there is no point critizing other religion or beliefs. You can say they say this and that about your beliefs, but your also doing the same to them. So please, think before you say things.
@stillmatic337 Religion is a human religion because people need to feel secure about the unknown and Shaman knows much of that unknown. But you are right, the arguement is a human arguement and really has nothing to do with the real god or devil - they could careless about human religion.
Did they called themself Miao?that was what the Laos people used to called us Hmong back in Laos when we went to school with them.I guess at that time we didn't even know that we are Miao.We Hmong are very popular now then we were then.I'm very proud to be a Hmong because we hmong live all over the world and very creatived,
hey, we hmong are just minority. We can develop our country yet.. maybe in the future when we are not minority anymore...and yea USA would be a good place for the Hmong American to develop their own country..since More Hmong American are more educate then all the other hmong around the world...
lol right like USA is going to cut out a land and say here govern yourself. If that was the case then Palestine would already be a state, Kurdish in northern Iraq would already be their own country. Fact is that will never happen, why the world is becoming a global economy. There is no need for another country to pop out and claim this and that to make trouble.
Great video. I would love to one day try the Miao People foods in China. As a non-Miao Chinese, I mostly eat food that are similar to Thai and Laotian. I saw pictures of Miao dishes and they look delicious.
Just to confront it this way we hmong, will never have a country. Unless a world war 3 break out or something then who Know? but tell then it anit gone heppend
Ah hah...Custno08...never thought you would stick out your head here again. You know, we once had a country, but the Chinese came and took over our land. Why don't you go and learn more of your Chinese history. Like I said in my email to you, our history/your history are written by the Chinese, so who's to trust since our writing system was destroyed by "you"?
Sup, brother, Jsson2k. You have a positive outlook on things and carried youself well with these kids. Keep it up! In my opinion, it would be better time spent for those who are still fighting the Secret War in Laos, to start talks with the Chinese government re: the southern part of China which I truly believe belongs to us. May that a while but I think It's worth a try. What you think?
Yes, great way to express yourself. I'm a 'mothafuk'. You need to learn that you may have legit theories and ideas, but you need to carry yourself better to be taken seriously.
In your terms: you don't need to swear. And I like your unique spelling of 'mothafuk'
ya'll are so cool !
