loved riding thru atlanta late at night and hearing the local club-DJs. went thru the ghettos too, wasnt threatening at all. note to fellow guys= georgia has BEAUTIFUL women...jus sayin. note to tourists= the cops there really are dickwads, and im in no way anti-cop. theyre cocky and dont wanna help out of towners...you wanna know who'll help you out in atlanta? ghetto-gang kids...and no im not lying either. im white as a ghost and they helped me and my brother fix our fuckin car.

I live in Atlanta and I LOVE it! There is lots to do here and I LOVE Downtown Atlanta. The weather is nice here,too! Not to mention how Diverse it is down here. We have lots of different skin colored people down here. There is even some parts in Georgia where you can find a WHOOOLEEE section of just nothing but Vietnamese and Mexican food spots. It's lovely here and I ADORE where I'm from! :D

This is very interesting. Having never been their and hearing so much about this "so-called jewel of the south", It looks a lot like Chicago. At least the downtown area does. It's as if a magic wand picked up Chicago and drop it in Georgia. I know that the power elite in Atlana always wanted to imitate NYC and Chicago going back maybe 25 yrs ago and develope a southern version of the two. It looks very Northern Urban Chic. I don't know if that's good or not. I'll to visit "Hotlanta" to see !

@onemystical2 Having just come from Chicago I don't think it's a good comparison, esp w/o the lake. Atlanta is unique, Chicago has a much more vibrant downtown area but ATL is not as industrial and is much more spread out with several vibrant areas north and northeast of downtown. Both are great cities with their own special features.

Yeah Atlanta has class....Houston has size, Miami has sex appeal, and New Orleans has toughness and culture, Charlotte is young but has spirit. I love my Southern Cities. Nashville and memphis have their own greatness.

Louisville is a great southern city on the Ohio as well.

We were driving across Atlanta, we had been in Savannah, Brunswick, St. Simons Island...

Atlanta is charming city! I lived in Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel (on 65. floor) so I had fantastic view :)

I dont want to spend more than 80,000. for a home/foreclosure. Is traffic so crazy everywhere that it would take me more than an hour drive to work? I want to raise my children in a home and i was told that atlanta has a lot of homes for sale cheap. Can you tell me which part of atl is cheapest and safest and how long will it take me to learn those roads?

@noisey973 If you are from NJ the roads here will be easy to learn, just accept the fact that there is a lot of traffic here. The city is circled by I-285 and all the other interstates act as spokes, just beware of the 29 or so different "Peachtree" streets/roads. As far as a safe, cheap place to live, the farther out of the city you go the safer and cheaper it will be but without knowing your situation, what you value as important and price range I really can't answer that question.

Wow Atlanta is beautiful at night. Houston, Minneapolis, and Atlanta are my favorite. Houston's freeways just make me go bonkers. Minneapolis has one of the best and well proportioned skylines in my opinion. Atlanta has a very organized and flashy scenery while driving at night.
