Actually, between Madrid and Barcelona (Spain) You need between 2,30h and 3,30 hours in high speed train (the only connection direct during the day) and 9,30 in the night train.

@Altaria01669 I was going to ask if it really takes 8.3 hours to get to Barcelona. That didn't look right. You'r saying basically 3 hours?
