I've wanted a Stetsbar for a long long time. When the day comes I have the spare £200 I'd need, I'll order one.
These things are fantastically engineered. For everyone reading, they are basically two plates separated by ball bearings. The springs at the back pull the top plate backward, while the strings tension pull it forward, reaching an equilibrium. The whammy is then used to drag the top plate backward or push it forward to change pitch. The beauty is it changes pitch on every string evenly
@TDSM8 BTW, its obviously a big enough issue that Floyd Rose have introduced their FRX, which works in an amazingly similar way, just looks better. Costs about £100 more too.
I'm trying to order one of these now. Have been for several months now. I'm a lefty and waiting. I started looking at other brands tonight, but found your video and I'm back to waiting again.. Argg. This video certainly shows that it will perform how I want it to. But.. I have to add. Line 6 amps just don't measure up to me. No offense to you at all.. Just had to turn the speakers down because the line 6 tones were horrible. A very common thing I'm running into on Line 6 amps in general.
which tuners do you use? today i installed grover locking rotomatics on my gibson bfg (also with stetsbar) and it stays better in tune than before, but its still not perfect : ( have you got any tips? i've chosen the grover tuners, because i didn't have to drill holes into my guit.
@busdriver1986 I have a set of struckture tuners because my guitar had the vintage set and i also didn't want to drill any new holes into my axe. you might want to try streching the strings and maybe nut sauce on saddles and nut. Hope it helps!
@patriciolposse hey! that's it. i put some graphit on the nut, and the strings return back to tune!!! FYI: i also changed my string set to 10-52 and now the bandwidth of the tremolo is really small, if you know what i mean. dive bombs aren't really possible anymore.
previously i used 10-46 strings, but the bass strings went very sloppy at Eb tuning.
which strings are you playing with the stetsbar? i'm not having a guitar near me, but as far as i can hear, you're in standard tuning?
@easm393 i hope you caught the "jokingly" tone. Anyway, it does go both ways (hehehe) it's made to go up and down. It depends how you set it up, I have it set up so that the bar is somewhat stiff and dives an octave down. You can sacrifice the dives in order for it to go up higher if you wish. I have it set up to go a fourth up. Cheers!

@McBlobby3 you can't tell from this video?!???
patriciolposse 10 months ago
@patriciolposse well yes, but it seemed like you were forcing it. cuz it might not have been made for going up. well thanks for replyin
McBlobby3 10 months ago
but i dont get it, i have a strat with no floyd rose and you cant even wammy like that, how do you make thoughs dives without a floyd rose??
easm393 10 months ago
@easm393 That's the beauty of the stetsbar. It does what a floyd does (close enough anyway) without having to rout the guitar!!!
