The Gen 5:4 response doesn't work because of one thing: chronology. Cain knew his wife long before Adam had Seth in which later he turned eight hundred years of age and only then had sons and daughters.

As for Cain's wife & incest, I almost always hear the explanations the mosaic law was not yet in effect. But yet when it comes to why Cain's offering was rejected ? Or why did Abraham pay tithes to Melchizedek ? I hear equally as often the law pre-existed Moses. Therefore Cain's offering was rejected because it wasn't a blood sacrifice to atone for sin(s), and tithing has always been effect too (both before and after the law). So if that's true, then how could God allow incest before the law ?

It is true that things in Genesis once twisted make everything else askew. One needn't go all the way back to creation to find the errors. Much of the Torah is mis-used and misunderstood. Clearly it did not govern the Kings as it was discovered and "translated" much later by the surprise of Ezra and others. It is interesting how you read and manipulate the text. The Bible DOES NOT say that. Seth the 3rd son is mentioned as well as sons and daughters, but the story is clearly told out of sequence. THAT sequencing confusion is part of the answer. It is simple to demonstrate the sequence. Man and woman are mentioned in the days of creation before the story of Adam and Eve. It is a writing style. Our reading style often overlooks this. It never says he slept with his sister or his mother.

Thanks for commenting. These videos and those of this type which point people back to the Bible tend to get some pretty caustic replies. Often folks are not seeking, merely throwing rocks. I haven't have a half dozen folks challenge any of our videos from a fact basis. They merely challenge from hearsay. They challenge these videos (Cain and Abel) but often refuse to read what the Bible says. Odd, how the Gospel stirs people for good and bad.
