@b010gna hey i have a monroe peircing too, and no the disk does not rub against your gums, and you can get smaller post lengths, i always forget that its there! sometime people ask if it hurt and i forget what they are talking about lol

@awgaskarth I just used normal toothpaste, and it doesn't really hurt at all...just don't use listerine, because that has alcohol in it and can hinder healing.

@YolandaLovesJonas If you're scared of needles it may be a little more dramatic because your body will tense up and cause more pain. Just relax! It goes so fast, it shouldn't hurt.
and right now, my piercing is just as good as it was in this video.
@EllenKelly69 It isn't hard to apply! I just wipe the foundation off the ball and around the area of the post with the cleaning spray mentioned in this video.
When I got mine pierced, it honestly didnt hurt at all. But it did swell like a bitch for about two weeks. The ball was literally half way in my face. Lol.
@amberdenise44 Thats going to happen. Mine had an imprint of the circular back inside my lip. Just keep twisting it every now and then so it doesnt heal into your lip. Hope this helps:)

@ruthi2baby: I got mine pierced at a 14, and it is now a 16. I wouldn't recommend going lower than a 16, because the bigger the gauge, the sturdier. You can talk to a professional piercer and see what they think, but overall a 16 isn't really that big. :)

@ruthi3baby: You're not annoying, I totally understand. I researched monroe piercings for YEARS before I got mine done. You pierce it at a 14, and then after like 6 weeks you just change the post to a 16 gauge and it will shrink down. :)

Some people can have piercings and can take them out after YEARS and their hole will close, other people can have them for 6 months and the hole is there for life. If you aren't ready for a hole in your face for the rest of your life, I suggest not getting it. A piercing is a commitment, and there is not always a guarantee you can get back to how you were before.

It will be red for awhile and usually it drains for about three weeks after you get it pierced. It's completely normal for it to be red. If it starts to burn, or itch and feels infected, go back to the place you got it pierced, or go to the doctor to get on anti-biotics. :)

Hey Catherine! I have a few questions, I hope you don't mind. I'm hoping to get my Monroe/Madonna this weekend. I was just wondering, overall, is it necessary to buy H20 Ocean products or can I just use Oral B mouthwash, sea salts and Dial soap? Also, do you have any tips on what to eat and/or drink the day of the piercing and the days after until swelling and etc is finished? I can't have ice cream since I'm lactose intolerant : /
You can use any type of sea salt wash, and any mouthwash that does not contain alcohol. Biotene is a good one. I suggest not eating spicy foods for awhile.
personaaalllly, i leave mine in ALL the time. Everyone's body is different and you just have to know how long you can leave the piercing out without it closing. I recommend leaving it in at LEAST 6 weeks.
so I went to wal-mart and got a monroe stud it says its surgical steel and it's a lot shorter than what I'm guessing they pirece with. SO my question is . Do you have to have the mental ball stud monroe ring thing? Sorrry am not sure what it's called. Also, I"m supper allergic to nickle so I'm scared it will get infected, and I'm kinda weary b/c it is in my mouth. Does it scrach your gums at all? Thanks
Most people who are allergic to metal, are really only allergic to nickel. Most metals have a percentage of nickel added to them as a filler, but surgical steel should not have it. I've never personally purchased monroe jewelry from walmart, but if you are allergic to metal, I would suggest buying a ball from a piercer, at least for the duration of the healing. It doesn't scratch my gums at all, because on the back of the post is a flat plate. If you have any more questions let me know. :D
For me, it was maybe a 2, but that is probably because I had crazy adrenaline going. Everyone's pain tolerance is different. I've had people tell me that they almost passed out, but I didn't hardly feel it.

When I first got my monroe done I cleaned it around three times a day, and rinsed my mouth whenever I ate. Honestly, it depends on the person, everyone is different and some people are more prone to infections and some aren't. If you do get an infection though, you can go to the doctor and get anti-biotics and that should take care of the infection. Just whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE OUT THE PIERCING. It will trap the infection inside.
I payed 35 for mine with the jewelry. I didn't pay loads of money for special mouthwashes or any of that. I just got Listerine and I used Dial soap to clean around it. This is what the piercer told me to do, and I didn't have any problems at all. Also, I found what works GREAT for the dryness/redness around the piercing is saline solution. All in all, I am VERY satisfied with my piercing & I didn't have to spend lots of money at all. (:
Any oral piercing that touches your teeth or gums can damage your teeth or gums. A goog piercer will place your piercing where it is least likely to damage your oral health, but still look good.
Talk to your dentist about whether or not they think it would be good for you.
If you do get it done, don't click it on your teeth too much, sometimes I find myself biting on the post and that can chip and damage your teeth.

I don't even feel mine anymore. It's just there, and unless I am pushing it through my lip or playing with it you don't feel it whatsoever. The pain is really temporary, but you may notice that it starts to get crusts around the post...this is completely normal, so don't freak out, and it is temporary as well, just be sure to clean it well, and take care of it.
you can have the diamond one if your piercing shop has it available, when I went the shop that I went to was out of the diamonds, so I just got a regular ball.
It doesn't irritate my gums or mouth, when you first get it it does, and it is normal for the inside of your lip to be irritated and for it to rub on your gums, it takes a little bit to get used to it but now I can't even feel it at all.
haha my parents don't listen..But I had to get an tooth implant and veneers and stuff so if there was like a 1% chance it could affect it they said they'd kill me, can't blame them I guess since they spent thousands! it looks awesome on you though never take it out :-) and do another tutorial soon!

Thanks. Monroe piercings don't actually usually affect your teeth, because they don't click your teeth unless you bite on them..so even my orthodontist wasn't too mad about it.
i got mine done professionally for 20 bucks that included the jewelry. I also recommend the h20 ocean products. i had no infection with mine or swelling.

They're coool though, but I wouldn't get one because my orthodontist would murder me because he said they are the worst for your teeth, because after time your teeth just start to corrode away.

You can use any type of sea salt wash, and any mouthwash that does not contain alcohol. Biotene is a good one. I suggest not eating spicy foods for awhile.

personaaalllly, i leave mine in ALL the time. Everyone's body is different and you just have to know how long you can leave the piercing out without it closing. I recommend leaving it in at LEAST 6 weeks.

so I went to wal-mart and got a monroe stud it says its surgical steel and it's a lot shorter than what I'm guessing they pirece with. SO my question is . Do you have to have the mental ball stud monroe ring thing? Sorrry am not sure what it's called. Also, I"m supper allergic to nickle so I'm scared it will get infected, and I'm kinda weary b/c it is in my mouth. Does it scrach your gums at all? Thanks

Most people who are allergic to metal, are really only allergic to nickel. Most metals have a percentage of nickel added to them as a filler, but surgical steel should not have it. I've never personally purchased monroe jewelry from walmart, but if you are allergic to metal, I would suggest buying a ball from a piercer, at least for the duration of the healing. It doesn't scratch my gums at all, because on the back of the post is a flat plate. If you have any more questions let me know. :D

For me, it was maybe a 2, but that is probably because I had crazy adrenaline going. Everyone's pain tolerance is different. I've had people tell me that they almost passed out, but I didn't hardly feel it.

Im not rlly worried about the pain but, how many times do you clean and take care of the monroe for no infection? and if it starts hurting can you take it out clean it, and put it back in...? :| im just rlly nervous bout infection,

When I first got my monroe done I cleaned it around three times a day, and rinsed my mouth whenever I ate. Honestly, it depends on the person, everyone is different and some people are more prone to infections and some aren't. If you do get an infection though, you can go to the doctor and get anti-biotics and that should take care of the infection. Just whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE OUT THE PIERCING. It will trap the infection inside.

I payed 35 for mine with the jewelry. I didn't pay loads of money for special mouthwashes or any of that. I just got Listerine and I used Dial soap to clean around it. This is what the piercer told me to do, and I didn't have any problems at all. Also, I found what works GREAT for the dryness/redness around the piercing is saline solution. All in all, I am VERY satisfied with my piercing & I didn't have to spend lots of money at all. (:

Any oral piercing that touches your teeth or gums can damage your teeth or gums. A goog piercer will place your piercing where it is least likely to damage your oral health, but still look good.
Talk to your dentist about whether or not they think it would be good for you.
If you do get it done, don't click it on your teeth too much, sometimes I find myself biting on the post and that can chip and damage your teeth.

It can get caught only if I purposely make it that way, other than that, it stays away from my braces.
You can drink, but while it's healing if you drink or smoke it will slow down the healing time, but it definitely doesnt hurt it.

I don't even feel mine anymore. It's just there, and unless I am pushing it through my lip or playing with it you don't feel it whatsoever. The pain is really temporary, but you may notice that it starts to get crusts around the post...this is completely normal, so don't freak out, and it is temporary as well, just be sure to clean it well, and take care of it.

It doesn't irritate my gums or mouth, when you first get it it does, and it is normal for the inside of your lip to be irritated and for it to rub on your gums, it takes a little bit to get used to it but now I can't even feel it at all.

haha my parents don't listen..But I had to get an tooth implant and veneers and stuff so if there was like a 1% chance it could affect it they said they'd kill me, can't blame them I guess since they spent thousands! it looks awesome on you though never take it out :-) and do another tutorial soon!

Thanks. Monroe piercings don't actually usually affect your teeth, because they don't click your teeth unless you bite on them..so even my orthodontist wasn't too mad about it.

yeah, I got my ears pierced when I was 11 for my birthday and my whole face swelled up and I got bleeding hives and I had to take them out..
Soon after I had an allergic reaction in the dentist chair..
I hate allergies!

I heard that tongue piercing hurts like BAD.
They're coool though, but I wouldn't get one because my orthodontist would murder me because he said they are the worst for your teeth, because after time your teeth just start to corrode away.

Yeah, a couple of my friends have had their tongues too and some say it doesn't hurt and others say that it's the worst pain they've ever felt..

awesoem vid..but whoa you paid that much for one peircing?! ...where i came from and ec=ven here in wisconsin where i live now it's like $40 or $50 and the jewelry is free...i did all my own peircings except for my tongue..i think my lip closed up though...lol. i want it back ..but this was a very informative vid..i never heard of that peircing spray i've got to look for it..:0
