  • LEEEERRRROOOOYYYYYY BROOOOOOOWWWNNNNNN!!!1!!!1!!!!!!

  • have mercury ever sung that song in concert???

  • @2866seba

    "That cuttie pie!"

  • i personally am happy i fell for the 80s queen first because theres all the 70s music i hadnt heard when young that i love as much and some more...wish i couldve been listening to freddie in the '00s era.. i miss that man

  • must agree with brightonrock74

I shouldn't say it really but I think Queens earlier stuff really was better to there later stuff!

I am a growing Queen fan so please BIG Queen fans don't shun me too much! :P

  • Awesome Awesome Perfect Perfect.

    Freddie rocks.

I love this music hall inspired song

  • THIS is why I love Queen. Their fantastic musicianship. It is a shame that Freddie never thought of himself as a great piano player - I really think that Queen in the 1970's was superior to their 1980's music on the back of his fantastic piano playing.

  • Every live performance of the song is almost without any vocals but it always features Brian's ukulele break near the end.

  • This is my favourite performance of this song! Really awesome:D I can't get enough of it:D want it back!:)

  • Actually, it is TRUE that Freddie did not consider himself a good piano player. Freddie has said it in many interviews and it's one reason that later Queen songs lacked a great deal of piano by Freddie. Brian or Trip often played in his stead. Also, Freddie was very insecure in real life. It actually fits with his persona if you think about it. Outwardly flamboyant and over the top...to hide his deep down insecurities. Many geniuses suffered from this. Also, watch the Classic Albums DVD for more

  • it's ture with the piano playing, but he was one of the people who had compleatly masterd expression even though his technique was slightly differnt, also he was alot more techniqual than what are on the live show's, not as good as liberatie but great, he also was hugely influenced by bouroque/renaisance and classical music periods witch helped in how he wrote harmonys and its similr with brian, his guitar harmonys, witch are quite compicated even though they are primarily aeolian and ionian

  • es una lastima q la gente de ahora no sepa apreciar esta obra de arte jajajaja

aguante queen y a la mierda con los rolling y es nestor en bloque

  • Suena como en Estudio, magnifico!!!!

  • This is perfect!!! They are perfection!!!!!

  • being long time piano player I wish I could play like freddie, he's excellent.

  • Essa parte do banjo.....meu amiiigo: É Fóda!

  • it's sad how freddie thought he wasn't that good at piano, because he stopped using it later in queen's carer. Although, this video proves he was exceptional with it.

  • What do you mean Freddie thought he wasn't that good at piano? Where is that written?

  • I forget exactly where I saw it, but i think it was on the on queens greatest video hits 1, where Brian is going over all the parts to bo rhap, he talks about Freddie and his piano playing, and he said Freddie was very self conscious of his playing and didn't think much of talent with it.

  • ey.. ever notice why you dont see much piano when the late 80s and early 90s songs came out?

  • no way he's amazing wow i mean it like blows me away i hope he was just being modest when he said that because he rocked his time. and i can only play the vocal lines of what he play not all the chords and crashing awesome sounds and all that stuff he does. just the very very basic. he's amazing the most amazing guy ever !

  • Brian May is playing a banjo, not an ukulele, folks.

  • thats not a banjo, it only looks like one. it's an eletric ukelele

  • It's a 4-string banjo, tuned like a ukulele. It's acoustic, in fact! Notice that Brian gets close to his mike to play the banjo.

  • It's acoustic of course. But that's not a banjo! It's banjolele of course!!!!

  • Banjolele... hehehe... exactly! :-D

  • LOVING Brian's jazz solo!!! Look at Freddie's left hand go!!! AMAZING!!!

  • He was an amazing pianist as well as singer wasn't he?

You look at stuff like this and think why did thet need a bass player. Then you hear some of Deakies bits on some tracks and know that Queen were a totally amazing and lucky mix of talent. You know sometimes I miss Deakies playing as much as Freds voice.

  • hi mate yes i agree with you there its like i saw this documentry on queen once and roger was saying how he gets a bit pissed of when people are all ways saying what a great show man freddie was he said he wasnt just a great show man he was a great musician as well and its true he was

  • wherever I heard this song I remmember Ella Fitzgerald and in my mind i saw a video with a vintage 'porky pig' or 'felix the cat's characters.... ¡this is a great SONG!.

The 70's was the best decade to Queen... They explored a lot in music 'Bring Back That Leroy Brown' is an example and the 'glam' performance at stage is so delicious.

  • bless him

  • if you want to see an even better version of this song, search for Queen medley, it is the one at the rainbow with the lap of the gods, killer queen, march of the black queen, and bring back that leroy brown, it is a great performance

  • hahahh i love brians lil ukelele! bless it hahahah...the crowd loved it too lol "woo ukeleles rock!" hahaha.....their image onstage was so appealing! they're our 'weird and wonderful queenies'! hehe

  • I love this song so much, one of their ragtime songs that they did so well

  • I love Hammersmith Odeon! Gracias por compartirlo, tengo todo ese concierto pegado :(... in vcd... ya ni se como volverlo a mpg :(

    Nos vemos!!!

  • better look for freddie in the 70's, not neccesarily better songs from the 70's, but harder, more rock songs than the 80's. better concerts in the late 70's, but my favorite from the rainbow and earls court

  • it's amazing they can sound like that in a live concert. Few bands can do it.

  • I totally agree, their image and their music was much better in the 70s...but they have always been fantastic.

  • That ukulele is just too cute. ^.^

  • As Brian say's it not a ukelele or a banjo.. it's a ukelelebanjo

  • Haha! That's cute. The things he has said in his life. Ha.

  • there was no queen in the 90's. freddie mercury died in 91'.i liked queen better in the 80's because their concerts were better. freddie mercury learned how to work the stage and involve the crowd. they made better songs in the 70's but concerts were better in the 80's.

  • I agree that Freddie showed a great showmanship in the 80s, but for example his coice went sharper and sometimes it cracked.

I think in terms of connecting with the crowd the 80s were their best years, but I agree that better songs were made in the 70s and that Freddie's voice was MUCH better during the 70s, IMHO.

  • @bohemiatotal He had more vocal range in the 70s. But in the 80s, his voice was much more powerful, and he had much more control. (In live performances, that is, absent the luxury of multiple takes).

I think people under-appreciate how well Freddie could control his voice. He is virtually peerless in his ability to manipulate his breath, his vibrato, his falsetto, etc.. There are plenty of singers with better ranges than Freddie, but few could actually use their voices the way Freddie did.

  • There were two Queen albums out in the 90's, even though Freddie died in November of 1991. Made in Heaven, even though most of the songs were remixes of earlier tracks be Freddie, and Innuendo, which came out in 1991 when Freddie was still alive. There was even music videos made for Innuendo with Freddie Mercury in them, the last one being "These Are The Days Of Our Lives."

The concerts were better in the 1980's, especially with the new lighting

  • "Innuendo" and "Made in Heaven" were 90s Queen albums. Yeah, I know half of MIH was basically covers of songs from other Queen related projects in the 80s, but said covers were constructed in the 90s.

  • Great stuff!!

  • Hey! Where is this concert from? and is there any more video from it?

  • i LUV IT!!

  • I think it's funny how everyone cheers when Brian changes instruments. It's like, "Woo, ukelele!!!"

And I agree, Freddie playing the piano is great. Whatever happened to that black nail polish?

  • "When I look back on all that black nail varnish and stuff, I think 'God, what did I do?' I used to feel a need for all that on stage. It made me feel more secure. But now I don't... I've grown up a bit."

    ~ Freddie Mercury ~

I love this quote, I don't really know why, I just do...

I think it's like he knew what you would ask...

    ^_^

  • I think it's like he knew what you would ask!

Sorry, my grammar is bad! It should just say,

It's like he knew that you would ask that question...

I love the word varnish... lol

  • Yes, it's great. But it's funny how most of Freddie's female fans prefered the look he had in the 70s, with the stuff and the "varnish":)

  • hahaha, love that banjo..ukelele, whatever, lol. To bad they didnt sing more, but the piano was great.

  • It's actually a ukelele-banjo combo.

  • This song makes me feel like doing the charleston!!

  • I love this concert! Roger is so gorgeous (like always), and the band sounds great.
