I don't trust the official news sotires one bit. THis guy could of been innocent and may not of had any weed on his helicopter. THe dea may of layed a trap posing as suppliers which is pretty dirty corruption. ALso is what said what really happened to this poor guy inside that godforsaken country jail. COuld it of been made to look like a suicide. Paperwork could of been falsified and all sorts. THe government are way over the top on people.
once authorites get hold of people they can pretty much do anything to a person and snatch their life away. look how many people they have framed. we still dont know what really happened with this guy. you cannot beleive what the tell you. did the dea frame this guy
@MrJonez68 Okay so everyone involved in the illegal drug trade is automatically bad and bad people deserve to die? Ever thought that its bad laws that make bad people? The marijuana laws simply don't work. How would you like to see your son or father or brother's life come to a tragic end and then see some inconsiderate shithead on the internet bash him with an ignorant half-wit remark. What a nice way to remember someone.
@MrJonez68 He got what deserved? They shouldn't be illegal in the first place!!
He got what he deserved? No non violent offender deserves to be stuffed in over crowded prison cells, that only exist so rich fucks can profit off the incarceration of others!
You deserve a swift slap in the face for that comment. What an insult!
i don't beleive in locking a person up in a cell unless they have done something extreme. flying some bud is hardly an extreme act. we should be helping one another not locking each other away.
people who want to legalise weed generally aren´t the ones who are addicted to it or have known someone who´s had severe and permanent psychosis triggered by it
@timmyx4 Not true, I smoke weed most days, currently am working on my marijuana dependence which has had positive and negative effects on me, and have seen two people go crazy from smoking marijuana.
It's not about that though, it's about the Government not having the right to tell me what I can and can't put in my body, as long as I am non violent and don't harm others.
For me it's also about the Government making nature illegal. That is pure evil and pure arrogance.
One more drug dealer down the tube. Make a hero out of him? Holy crap. He knew the risks and could not accept the responsibility, just like the rest of Liberal people in BC. A "boy"? Lighthearted kid just looking for a good time? Liked to take risks? I guess so, and he paid for them. No sympathy here. None at all.
can the user please change the title of this video im part of the deseaced family and i kind of find " sam brown- remembered drug smuggling" offensive if you could change the title that would be very much appreciated...thank you.
@bitsch19 Some people on this website probably cheer for drug smugglers. Bicycling mag quoted Sam Browne as saying "Its just pot and that's it. There's nothing morally wrong with what I'm doing." So there must have been some really deep shit going on if he killed himself. Was he afraid of drug dealer retribution since he lost the load or the money?
@stopglobalswarming His death was probably a result of retribution. Gave him a minute to write down his will on a peice of paper before hanging him from a light.
The friends and family of this individual may have been able to save his life if only they differed him to positive character building options to live a happy and successful life in society. My heart continues to go out to the family. Let this be an example of the importants to help people who are being controlled by an obsetion and/or addiction of any sort to avoid tradjedys like this one. I dont blog. Ever. but this hit close to home...
After watching the CBC special I feel a deep sympathy for Sam's familly. There are so many families in North America that are left with nothing but the memory of a loved one with so much potential due to their ignorance. It was Sam's choice to do the crime but how often do we see people get addicted to things such as money, with families that love and support them but do not have the courage to stand up, put their foot down and choose not to accept a loved ones self-destructing habbits.
Legalize and their wouldnt be any money in it. Is it a coincidence drugs are worth more money illegal then legal. Weed has killed no one and theres 500,000 deaths a year in America from tobacco. Government isnt protecting anyone. Sam got caught up in a big game, I still dont feel sorry for his decisions but it doesnt take a smart person to see we will never do without the market place for drugs, I feel sorry for another wasted life as a result of the drug war.
Love of money ... led to breaking his own moral values and to dealing in drugs. No one NEEDS big money. If they WANT big money, what will they do to get it? Drugs have ruined the lives of so many people. Users and dealers.
I too watched the CBC Fifth Estate story on Sam. As someone who supports what those in and around Nelson and other beautiful B.C. interior towns need to do to survive in this economic climate. Unfortunately, greed gets the best of even the finest of people, Sam being no exception here. That said, I like seeing folks like Sam make tax free money and get away with it. I despise the RCMP, DEA and politicians. RIP Sam, you're soaring beyond the scopes of this petty world and it's little ways.
Sam Brown was a thrill seeker who tempted fate. Unfortunately he also challenged the law of the land, and it cost him his life. He died because he was unable to face paying the price for breaking a federal law. I disagree with the CBC. He did not fall victim to a harsh American system. Sam was drawn in to the world of drug running hoping for 'easy money.' The moral of this story is once again that crime doesn't pay!!
rest in peace Sam, my symapthies go out to his familly and friends. I also saw the CBC presentation on his life. very interesting and so sad. I agree , please let Sams story be an example end not allow for this to happen to another person with so much to live for
I just finished watching the CBC presentation on this young man. Sam's life story is very interesting. Sadly he hung himself while in jail waiting for sentencing. More sadly is he wasn't scared enough of jail not to be a drug smuggler. My heart breaks for him and his family. He did the deed and he paid the final price. Please someone who learns about his story, don't do what he did, don't be a drug runner.
wtf, are u stupid, its marajuana, not fucking crystal meth. Marajuana is only illegal because the united states government are racist against mexicans. Nothing wrong with smoking some pot for fun. Just as easy to get addicted to it as alchohol, and thats not illegal, so dont be an ignorant tard

Being a "kid we hung out with...(who) was really fun" doesn't change the fact that he was trafficking an illegal substance across the border.
He got what he deserved. Hopefully all illegal, Canadian border crossers / drug traffickers will be dealt the same fate.
