The most awesome part of the song is when the camera pans out to capture the image of thousands of fans standing mesmerized by Page's solo as well as the magic of the song. It feels like you are literally watching history as it is happening.
if anyone remember from TSRTS dvd, at about 3:09 you can hear the whistle "and my spirit is crying....(whistle)..........and a new day will dawn" well the true zep fans at this concert recreated it if u listen closely at 3:09
i truly hate the sound of this concert hall place. idk just the acoustics of this room i hate.. its like theres an echo or something.. maybe its cause all the videos out there are just user-filmed. maybe there will be a dvd with high quality audio like in song remains the same dvd
Bonzo died of a drinking problem, that was his mistake. I'm not insulting him or Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin is my favorite band, but a fan has too accept even the downsides of a band. Jason Bonham should play Moby Dick.
The lower key gives this song a more ethereal quality. We're all used to the normal version but this sounds like a completely different song, which brings out the original brilliance that gets buried under hearing the song a million times in your life.
Watch the 2008 interview of Robert Plant and he says how much anxiety there was...the band was looking at each other thinking "not too fast okay" Funny stuff. Yeah, I think Robert could have really belted it out if he wanted to, even at his age. Great concert. Legendary concert!
@ibashred Oh brilliant! You are so observant! Let's see he is 62 and pulling it off better than many of the cunt actsof today. People! Really! If all you do is compare Plant now to Plant zen, then you were never a fan to begin with.
who thinks that Plant was holding back, like not even because he's older, I know he has it in him but hes afraid to try. maybe with the tour hel let loose
plant is still great, but it kinda sucks that he has to be so careful nowadays just to make it through one concert. could he last a whole tour? there were times throughout this show when i wished he would've put some of that good old scratchiness into it, but he still definitely had some of those epic robert plant moments. people who compare old plant to old mick jagger don't realize that what jagger does has never been half as technically challenging as much of what plant does.
I personally hate the idea of Dave Grohl getting behind the drums for Zeppelin. Listen to the chemistry of these four. Zeppelin has always and should only ever be known as Plant-Page-Jones-Bonham.
Jason Bonham is the ONLY one, i repeat, the ONLY one, who should fill the place of his father, and he did a bloody fantastic job of it that his father would be more than proud of.
Jason is leaving Foreigner officially ending his relationship with that band at the end of this month. He's already been jamming in the Studio with Page and Jones they're working on some new material. He's not sure if all four will be getting together he said some legal issues have to be worked out.
Hmmm... I'd rather not have new material from 'Led Zeppelin'. I'd rather them remain with their legendary status, just remembering what they achieved, how there will be no other band like them, ever...
I really wonder why they decided to make the solo so short. They did such a phenomenal job on Dazed, No Quarter, Time of Dying, Kashmir that you'd expect them to put more into Stairway. Surprisingly, the best moments here come from Jason Bonham and JPJ, not from Page or Plant.
its simple...after all the years of constant glorification.... they simply got bored and annoyed at the song...they played it for the sheer reason that everyone loves this song...and to honor Mr Ertegun
Excellent sound quality even when Jimmy loses it a little in his solo, top notch vocals from Plant but what happened to his throwaway line "does anybody remember laughter".
I saw them in 77 as well in Seattle and that was Bonzo's last ever performance of "Moby Dick".
If they do more concerts I will see them again too.
This is brand new live Led Zep, and it will come out on DVD.
Jimmy will do his production magic, and it will be incredible, because unlike the old stuff, this was recorded using the very latest and best video and recording tech.

I think this version of Stairway is incredible. If that is the same double-neck guitar Jimmy used during his hay day, it sounds great.

I have heard that guitar has appraised for nearly 2 million dollars!I

Yeah, the guitar is a celebrity itself.

Probably because of the guitarist behind the guitar is a legend! thats why haha

of course he should play Moby Dick but his father was much better...and his death was victim of his glory like Freddie Mercury´s AIDS death
mcblane15 2 years ago
True, just like Bon Scotts death of Alcohal poisoning. However, we don't know if Jason is better or worse though, so don't jump to conclusions.

Jason is Bonzo´s son...that´s enough
