Yes, Madonna got inspirations from a lot of artists ,experiences , and also Drag Queen, just like you said. Everybody is influenced by others, but THE POINT is it's Madonna who is so brilliant and smart combined all the inspirations into something HUGE...while not many artists got ideas like hers. I agree, why the fuck is everyone saying Madonna is original. She is nothing but a creation from a record company, manufactured to create sales. Like you said Madonna ripped off "Express Yourself" from "Respect Yourself", she stole "Vogue" from the underground vogue scene in the late 80's and she stole Cyndi Laupers whole look AND act in the early 80's. She also ripped off Marilyn Monroe in a lot of her music videos, give me a break.

You take it for granted that many of the female singers nowadays are able to do what they can because Madonna did it first and took the criticism for it. Regarding "Vogueing," Madonna merely brought it from the underground. Madonna fans know and concede that she did not "originate" this. Madonna herself don't claim to be the 2nd coming of Christ (unlike some artists I know).

different artists. and again: she's only just starting. Madonna got criticized a few times during her career, but we're talking about a 30 year career, not one of a few years. Gosh, even the font of the cover of express yourself is the same as gaga's born this way.

And gaga always claims to be original - Madonna never claimed that. There's the difference.
