  • I just dribbled all over my computer...I want this wacom soooooo bad! And I've only recently got the Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch!!!

  • In your opinion, do you think this sort of set up would work with the dual ergotron arm (I have a monitor and a wacom I want to attach) or would two single ergotron arms (one on each side of the desk) be better?

  • not fake but gay?

  • i want that slider than the CINTIQ itself!!

Cintiq just make me Drooling,so i just gave it up.

  • there is a problem.. it seems like its shaky.. not enough resistance power.. has anyone experience with it ?

  • that is so fuckin awesome

  • Wich program is the one you are using to paint that red thing?

  • WTF,where's the sound?

  • Can the Cintiq still be rotated the same way you can on its desktop mount? Or, does it 'sort of' rotate with less degrees of freedom?

  • how much was it cuz these are not cheap

  • That was freakishly comfortable looking. I really wish I could afford one of these :P (and had room for it...)

  • The new Cintiq 24HD basically has this built in.

  • is the reaction between touch and tablet response good?

  • cindiq is very cool!but there is two big problem: frist, you paint on it,it is a monitor...so you will see perspective....it won't happened in classic wacom, 2nd: it is like wacom but you can't use it on desk because of the perspecitive so it will become an angel, and your arm will fell tired.these two problem won't happened in classic wacom,so that's why we need the arm like this:( i just bought this from America.....T_T

  • Finally got the cintiq had the arm... i have to cut my attachment plate thing down.. Did you?

  • @prodigyset420 Never mind about this.. I lied lol. I found the wholes.

  • i ilke sketch book , but its not so much useful for only tablet based paints without cintq

  • man i want one of these but the price tag :O

  • The Ergotron sounds useful. How much does it cost?

  • its so ergonomic !!!

  • I bought this thing for my tiny Wacom Cintiq 12 and it's perfect!

  • @PrincessTigerlili Why would you even need an arm for that little thing?

  • @prodigyset420 Now I don't have to worry about my tablet falling of my desk ;) and it's much more confortable and stable

  • How do you feel when using this setup? are you pretty conforable? please give some feed back on the plus and minuses about it, thank you

  • wow man amazing!!

  • I just bought this for my cintiq but the arm keeps coming down, like if the cinitq is too heavy for the arm. Is there way to secure it into position?

  • @notetoself911 The arm came with an allen key (hex key) tighten up the relevant joints with it.

    Hope this helps

  • @deze70

Ah! i see, i forgot to tighten the top part of the arm, thanks a lot man!

  • @notetoself911 dude how do you tighten the top part???

  • @soulholder Found it! found it! YAY!!!

  • @soulholder

good thing you found out how lol i swear when i was putting this thing together i was pretty much guessing my way through the whole thing bc the dang instructions were pretty much horrible.

  • @notetoself911 Yeah they're not the best, but the arm on the other hand is AWESOME!

  • Does it need to be connected with the computer all the time or you can draw in a totally different room and just connect it later?

  • @JuegosTheTitan its a screen/wacom not a self contained computer.

  • @deze70 But if it needs to be connected to the computer all the time how come you separate it at 0:31 ?

  • @JuegosTheTitan He doesn't, you just can't see the cable from the angle he is filming from.

The cintiq functions like a screen. It will always need to be connected to your computer by cable (vga or dvi I believe) and USB (for the pen technology to work).

  • @JuegosTheTitan how about connect with mac mini?

  • @stimbe77

fits straight on as its VESA mount standard

  • What did you have to do to mount that to the ergotron? Is there a special mount?

  • @drumosaur

Nothing... its a VESA mount so it is standard fitting

  • the free positioning makes me die out of jealousy !

  • Didi you made a hole on the desk or just used the regular atachment?

    Thanks

  • @Keldorl

regular attachment that comes with the arm - G clamp

  • This is amazing I d kill for a set up like that and draw my guilts away on it

  • by which I mean the tablet display.

  • I would get one if I had 2000 extra dollars. which I don't :p

  • What happened to the starving artist? Moneybags here ain't missing any meals.

  • @uncutsquid

This artist works hard ... For the nice things in life.

  • Can you put much weight on it? I mean, can you lean on it?

  • @LarryBundyJr

No you can't lean your body weight on it, but your hand is fine.

  • isn't that arm for 9kg max while the cintiq 21 is 10kg ?

  • @Tekinette

no once the Cintiq's stand is removed it is under weight

  • I am so jelly :u I have been animating on my cintiq for months now and my back is killing me - I envy your comfy position! *Goes back to breaking my back*

  • Does the Extendable arm come with it? Or do you have to buy that separately?

  • @MrDobbyRocks the arm is seperate made by ergotron.

    please read the description

  • i got a intuos4, but i saved up for this one, i now got the small version of the intuos (wich is still way bigger as a bamboo) and im pretty used to it, so would u advise this one? have u ever had problems with it? and does it react fast? and is the cursor on the exact place as your pen is?

  • @b1gbudda The Cintiq is perfectly fine for matching the cursor, however because my desk is so high I have it calbirated so that the angle I'm sitting on means for my eye level it's in place. It works to however you want it.

I've only ever had the standard wacom issues with my Cintiq - such as the pen not working sometimes, the drivers are just as annoying as any Wacom tablet, but a restart fixes that.

  • @owlshower yeah the driver for my intuos is also very bad, the touch ring works half of the time..

but still its an amazing tablet, ive used the cintiq in a shop now and im very impressed, gonna get 1 next week, tnx

  • @b1gbudda The hot keys on the Cintiq are really good and do respond very well, so those are okay. The problems with the driver seem more in the pen than anything else, it's super easy to set up as a monitor and stuff. Grats on getting one soon! I love mine to bits~

  • @owlshower

The drivers for my mac seem to work just fine.

  • @b1gbudda

the pen is raised slightly above the crosshair, but you soon forget about it.

No latency with the tablet. If your software works well on your normal monitor then it should work fine on a cintiq.

  • how much are they please ?????

  • @deadHEADbunny $1999

  • @IamNikkzScreams OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG thats a lotttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • Where can i buy one of these arms for my Cintiq?

  • @Sieg2k6

Got mine on amazon a while back

  • I never seen it's actual size i always thought it's like a medium size notebook screen but dammit it's bigger than a desktop 17" monitor, still it shouldn't cost nearly 2k.

  • @FooNado It's a 21" tablet, so of course it's bigger than a 17" monitor. :P

  • @FooNado

    Its a 21" 4:3 ratio @ 1600x1200

  • Looks like the weight limit on the LX arms is 20lbs, which falls a few pounds short of the Cintiq's listed 22lbs. Those buying might want to consider a Ergotron MX arm which is rated up to 30lbs. Same price.

  • @emahargegas

Listed at that weight but less with the cintiqs stand removed.

  • @deze70 That's a good point. Thanks for following up with the reply.

  • Awesome, just ordered the Ergotron MX! I happened upon this video by accident when looking for Cintiq 21ux glove recommendations. Thank you for sharing!

  • Just bought this exact set up yesterday because of you video....the cintiq (super back order) and the arm from amazon....Thanks.. Im a little worried about my available room and the length... I measured some stuff form my situation. and it will be close to what i want with some mods.

  • @prodigyset420 hope you are finding it just fine ;-)

  • @deze70 The arm is great but I have no cintiq to attach it to yet.. I ordered it in April

  • Never used the 12wx so i couldn't really comment on it. you best bet is to google a 12wx in-depth user review. I expect you wont get big strokes on 12" but it would be nice to hold on your lap.

  • Im buying either 12wx or this, is there a huge difference?

Except the size ,which makes a huge deal for the painting (or is it really small so its almost impossible?)

    Please tell me!!!

  • @RezarTheOne I know your comment is a month old, but incase you were still undecided about the smaller cintiq it's bigger than it sounds. My friend bought the 12wx after seeing my 21ux and she's super happy with it. She says the screen is around the size of an A4 sheet of paper, which is perfect for drawing on of course. The only difference is the 12wx, I dont think, is updated to Intuos4 technology like the 21ux is.

  • awesome but looks like you could use just a bit more reach and flexibility

  • awsome but looks like you could use just a bit more reach and flexibility

  • what do you mean only 2k! u might as well buy a touch screen computer with that!

  • @CenzGFX Does touch screen computer have 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and brush tilt sensitivity? I doubt it, and thats what makes all the difference when drawing/painting/airbrushing on a wacom. Also its around 1700 uk pounds..

  • @deze70 yeh i guess, but 1700 pouns is alot :P

  • @deze70 Ikr at PC world it was £2100 freaking quid but they've lowered it to £1800 now :D But i want the 12WX which i'll hopefully get for my B-day ~:DDDDD

  • @CenzGFX Ignorance is bliss...

  • Awesome, thanks for sharing this, I saw some reviews about that specific arm in amazon, and I was shying away from it, and going instead for a more rigid looking option, the "Visidec Focus Articulated Monitor Arm".

One of the things I also worried about was the fact that none of these arms have the equivalent of a ball head like the ones found on camera tripods, which to me would make great sense for complete mobility.

Is the sideways rotation you do with it due to the 21ux itself or the arm?

  • @otas32 The sideways rotation is the Arm as is the Cintiqs default stand. If you are getting a different stand make sure it rotates clockwise and anti for maximum freedom

  • cool!

  • Comment removed

  • beasty bit of kit, and nice writin man

  • Could you use one of these with a regular tablet? I have an Intuos3 9x12 and I hate having it in my lap because I am extremely clumsy and it falls out of my lap a lot. D=

  • damn dudu you work hard ... 10 seconds each day haha :D

  • Did you have to get a special mounting bracket for the Cintiq 21 to attach it to the Ergontron LX? I'm looking to get my Cintiq within the next two weeks.

  • @720Records Nope

    Standard VESA mount

  • One question though, can you put any weight on the cintiq when drawing? I tend to put my arm all over the place while drawing. that won't push it out of place will it?

  • My Cintiq is showing up today and I've got my Ergotron arm all ready and waiting for it on my desk, can't wait. This video totally sold me.

  • now how cool is THAT?!!

  • how much does the desk mount weight by itself?

  • Not to be a kill joy but has anyone considered having that thing in your lap like that and all the radiation and so on coming off of it. I work on a cintiq all day long everyday and worry about the radiation I'm taking in just on my face and arms...

Let's face it, long term testing on these things have not been done and no one knows how they may effect us...But I still agree it's an awesome invention!

  • does the cintiq has his own OS??

  • @grimmjow100 It's not a computer... It's a touch-screen monitor. It's basically a drawing tablet with a screen.

  • @ANONONTHEJEWTUBE but why is one thing shown in the cintiq and another thing completely different in the pc screen???

  • @grimmjow100 Have you ever seen a dual-screened computer? You can have one program in one window, and no program in the other, plus the fag is using a Mac,

  • @ANONONTHEJEWTUBE lol, loved that comment, thanks for the info, didnt know about that double screen option

  • i think is freaking useless, its constantly moving even if allows you to been in a confortable position

  • friken nice!

  • That's pretty sweet. Thanks for including the exact model number in your video.

  • deze70. i just un-boxed the Ergotron LX Desk Mount LCD Arm 45-241-026. and was about to connect my 2010-21ux it to the back.. and noticed i need some kind of spacer or something in between monitor and arm.. what did you use?

The monitor that I have, has the cable coming out of the center.

  • I read sth about different versions of Cintiq 21 - newer and older. Planning to buy new or used one. What should I be carefull about? Which year is 'new' one from?

  • Holy Shit I need this. I'm hunched over mine all day.

  • Excellent video - you just sold another Ergotron ;) This will fit perfectly with my current setup. Thanks for sharing Deze!

  • Oh my! ..I can feel an itchy, burning sensation in my pocket.. :)

  • wow nice job

  • hey, great job. I wonder, does cintiq 21ux or 12wx works without pc?

  • This stand works quite well with the DTK model. There is movement and jiggle to a degree, but i compensate with little thought and the freedom of motion makes up for any detriment the movement causes.

when you are dropping 2 grand on a tablet, another 90$ isn't that bad!

  • I am in the process of ordering one of these, was anything special needed to connect it to the Cintiq? I have the new DTK model, I couldn't really tell if that was what you were using too, but I think it would work the same. Your video is what inspired me to get one, I love how you can turn it 360 degrees!

Do you have to draw lightly or is it pretty sturdy when it is extended? Thanks for any help!

  • @TheAwesomeSaurus

It's pretty sturdy once you have the right angle and the correct tension set up on the joints. If the DTK model has a standard vesa mount holes then you are good to go.

  • @deze70 I really appreciate you posting your video, it answered A LOT of set-up questions for me. I just got my Ergotron LX arm today & I'll have my Cintiq 21UX buy Tuesday. I'm currently becoming a computer animator and I'm always looking to network with other artist. Thanks again for posting your video.

  • i rarely if ever leave comments on youtube, but i want to let you know that your video inspired the purchase of the model arm you demonstrate here.

it was $90 on amazon after signing up for a amazon credit card which is one payment away from getting shredded.

i have been using a cintiq 21 for 2 years now at work, and finally got a 2010 model... this was my second purchase and is the best thing i have ever drawn on.

thank you for the inspiration, and for boldly trying it out!

  • @Legato895

great stuff, let us all know how you get on with the arm and new cintiq. ;-)

  • @Legato895 how much did the latest model of the cintiq cost?

  • @Stickymation 2k from safe harbor... took 2 months to come into stock because wacom was having glass issues :/

  • @Legato895 90$ on amazon?? i googled it and couldnt look at the price because it was like 3.5k$...... was the device in a good condition? thanks!

  • @DrDimk0o $90 was for the arm. a new cintiq should only be 2 grand new. 3.5 is not right.

  • Does it move around when you try to draw on it?

  • I can feel my soul dying inside because I can't afford. one. ;__;

  • Hi man! Sweet setup, looks really comfortable! I am thinking of bying a ergotron in some months too. But aren't really the Cintiq too heavy to be on a ergotron lx of that kind? Maybe 1 kg over the recommended weight lift for the ergotron isn't thath bad ^^

  • @GuitarLuf I had one and I used another kind or ergotron that is more heavty duty than the lx and can be purchased on ebay for less than the lx for some reason even though it actually cost more.

  • Looks awkward...

  • @MrAnimated It's allot more comfortable than leaning over the wacom on its original stand positioned on the desk. It used to give me upper back strain, thats why i got an arm.

  • @deze70 how much do they cost? and can they break a desk or fall easily if improperly balanced?

  • @MrAnimated they cost around the £117 UK mark, very sturdy on a good heavy desk like mine. They don't fall as the clamp is chunky and strong. This is a solid piece of kit, see ergotrons site for more info.

  • can that work on the 12wx?

  • @KinesisAcademy only if it has a vesa mount which would be 4 screw holes in the back like most flat monitors have

  • Thanks for the heads up on this man! I have been trying to set up all my stuff, and I have all the exact same hardware I see on your desk, except for that arm. It looks super comfortable and that 30" is perfect for scrap/ reference pics while drawing. Nice that you can get the cintiq out of the way when it's not in use too!

  • don't you get a pain in the back if you work in that position a little longer?

  • @Zingam

    not at all, no...

  • @deze70 no bro i don`t think hes fat n lazy :L

  • I've been thinking about getting one of these desk mounts for my Cintiq 21ux, but it says it only supports 20lbs and the Cintiq 21ux is 22lbs. How well does it support the weight of the tablet and do you feel like you always have to hold it up with your left hand when you apply pressure to draw?

  • @mongrelme

    Hi Mongrelme,

Once you remove the wacoms stand it becomes lighter and it is then covered by the arms weight limit. The arm also has tension adjustment via an allen key on each joint to stiffen to your liking. it supports the cintiq fine without my left hand ;-)

Hope this is of some help.

  • @deze70 Awesome. Thank you for the reply. I ordered one today and looking forward to putting this tablet in a more natural position.

  • Yes it feels stable on my chunky desk.

  • Hey Deze,

i finally bought the Ergotron 45-241-026 model and installing it now..

However, because my desk is too wide, and i dont want to drill any holes in it, i have to mount mine at the front..

Edit: I just realized yours is mounted the same way as mine.. does yours feel a little unstable?

  • Hey Deze,

However, because my desk is too wide, and i dont want to drill any holes in it, i have to mount mine at the front...

Bad thing though.. it seems a little unstable because i guess the pressure is the other way round now. Do you think its still ok?

  • esa merda havia de arrebentar toda filho da puta!

  • he haz a mac

  • Hey deze,

thanks for the review! Just got a quick question if you dont mind answering.

Are there much difference between this model (45-179-195) and the older model (45-179-195) with a cintiq mounted?

I say this because i live in Australia and the newer model is coming out next month and i believe it will be considerably more expensive than the older model.

    Thanks in advance :)

  • @bdesigns

    Hi bdesigns,

The only mechanical difference with the 45-179-195 is that the head only pans the screen 90 degrees in one direction or so i was told by an ergotron representative in an email before i purchased the current model. This is also evident in the pdf user guide for the 45-179-195. Keep in mind I havent owned the older model and this is based on my previous research. The prices where pretty much the same here in the UK at the time of purchase. Hope this helps.

    Deze

  • @deze70

    Hi Deze70,

Thanks for the reply, i guess im still torn between the both.. haha..

Just checked out the PDFs and its true how theres not much difference. I guess for the new one you get a bit more angle, however in the older model, the desk mount pole is alot longer.

Im wondering in you newer model, if you ever pan more than 90 degrees?

  • Can you put much weight onto it before I pushes it out of the position you're comfortable with?

also can you lock it in any position?

  • @ScrewAttackEurope

The main joints have hex screw tension adjustment, so if you really wanted to lock it in a position you could tighten these to achieve this, but you would have to loosen them to adjust to another position. this would also apply to the weight factor.

  • This is very helpful. Thanks for posting.

  • deze look at your inbox ok ?

  • uh..and also, how far BELOW the level of your table surface can you get it maximum?

  • The wacom sits round half way below the level of the table as the second to last photo kind of illustrates, although picture was taken from above. Hope this helps.

  • hey dude!

i ve forgot to ask an important question - how stable is the monitor arm compared to the competing products? in the video i see the tablett rocking a bit as you execute the harder movements.. so is it unavoidable on any arm, or are there ones that are more solid then your model? also, are you using an extension? does the extension make it any less stable?

    thanks in advance,

    jay

  • The arm is very solid, you are always going to get a little after rock after positioning, but its fine when applying the stylus.

You can always tweak the stiffness of the arms moving parts by using the supplied hex key to your liking and the monitors weight.

There is no extra extension on the arm this is how it comes as standard. see model number in the description.

The arm is advertised as touch friendly in the specs.

I'm very pleased with it as i can sit for longer durations and create.

  • thanks dude, was lookin for a good arm for my cintiq which i get the next days hehehe

  • No problem... Enjoy!

    And thanks for watching fella.

    DEZE

  • thats whats up!

  • Damn, that's cool..How much did the whole set cost?

  • the screen cost anything from uk £1500 -£1700

The ergotron lx arm is around £116 at the time of writing

then you just need a spare monitor port on you mac/pc

  • hwo much this cost? the screen and the holder?
