i'll never forget this commercial. watching nwa back then on tbs (i lived in fayetteville, nc back then) was truly a pleasure. this promo stayed with me for weeks after watchig it, great upload!
I remember watching this and thinking that the special effects they used were sooooooooo cool. Of course I was like 9. In my list of top 20 tag teams I put Midnight Express (Stan Lane) as 1 and Road Warriors as 2 because of the best out of 5 match which was what I was looking for when I found this. Does anybody remember that match?
@hulkyone Wrestlers and celebrities always do that kind of stuff. Chicago has a reputation for being a tougher town so I guess they thought it would be a good idea. Just like Hulk Hogan said he was from Venice, CA where Muscle Beach is located. In reality, he's from Tampa, FL. I guess it makes more sense for a guy calling himself Hulk with bleached blond hair and flexing his muscles to be from California. lol
@danteras23 I know that was the one where Cornette busted both of his knees falling from the scaffold (Big Bubba was supposed to catch him, but he had his shades on and misjudged where Cornette fell).
The funny thing was they only did 3 scaffold maches in nwa-wcw history the road warrior -me match RnR vs ME and Pn news and Bobby eaton vs terry Taylor and some one else where u capture the other persons flag
When the Great American Bash on Tour came to Macon, GA, the Road Warriors had a scaffold match against Ivan Koloff and the Russian Assassin. That may have been in 1988. I still have my program from that night!
Greatest promo in history to hype up a match. Compare this to the shit they have now, they don't use catchphrases or talk for 15 minutes, they just show you what they're going to do.
I agree with the comment about the WWE. The LOD was bad, but the Road Warriors were just plain scary.
Even as a mark of the Road Warriors, this promo scared me as an 8 year old. I seriously thought someone was gonna die in that match.
I was 8 also, and this is this was the one ppv of my early childhood that i actually remember clearly, and remember being terrified watching. Looking back it actually probably was a miracle no one died.
Hey, I was 8 years old too! I remember watching this promo and thinking that they will destroy the Midnight Express, and they did! The NWA was awesome! I miss those days!
Hey Octo,no one died but Jim Cornette did actually hurt himself seriously when he got kicked off the scaffold!! They talk about it on the Warrior tape I have!!
Sorry, WWE fans, but the Road Warriors were the best in the their NWA days (I didn't really see them in any other organization other than NWA and WWE.......yes, i know they were in the AWA and others, but the wrestling shows rarely got shown where I live). Hawk once said when they were having it out with the Powers of Pain before a big match, "The things we do to you will be so bad Heaven won't take us, and Hell will be afraid we're gonna take over!"
yes indeed. i see you know your wrestling history. They were the best when they were in the nwa. I got upset when they came to the wwf, All my friends that watched them from 86-90 appreciate them more. 86-90 were the years of the nwa. the awa years were good too, but i like the nwa years better. Even the football pad spikes were better. If you are a true fan notice that the music changed fom iron man to some remixed song in the nwa later. 86, 87, 88, iron man....89, 90 the remixed version.
This is what fucking wrestling should be, not the cartoony shit we are unfortunantly fed on a weekly basis. The Road Warriors are my favorite tag team ever because of shit like this.
Road Warriors were "cartoony" you fucking dip shit...so was pretty much the entire 80's era. Wrestling maybe limited today but at least it's based on more realistic characters.

scaffold matches i think were dumb to give the warriors as their specialty. it's just cats punching each other till they fall off. it's rumored that that's the reason the powers of pain left because they didn't want to do the scaffold matches. you can't put no 6'5 & 6'4" cats hanging from no fucking scaffold. it's for smaller guys like the midnight express or fantastics.
Hey Animal, and The Reast of You Dum MotherFucker, Shit stomping, Ass Licking Whores, The Road Warriors Suck Some serious Shit Smelling, Cock Sucking ASS. Hart Foundation Fucking Rules!!! YOU Stupid ASS Hicks, You were all born out of your Dads Asshole While he Was Taking A big Honkin Shit, You Fucking INBREAD Pieses OF SHIT!!!!!
Hey moron, if you are going to call someone dumb, learn to spell you piece of garbage. The Hart Foundation were a bunch of crying bums. All Brett hart ever did was whine and cry. The other guy couldn't even talk. The LOD could cut a promo and kick some ass. Don't ever compare some mid-card tag team to the most dominate in wrestling history. But I can see you don't have the intelligence to reason.
The most INTEMIDATING team to date. The interviews, the power move, the Ariel moves you were beaten before you even got in the ring! As a kid you look at comic book heroes and horror movies and monsters and think, I wonder what the closest you can get to that....THE ROAD WARRIORS!!
i have over 200 road warriors matches but how do you convert them to youtube? i have the heal turn match against varsity club when they turn on sting..so classic
i remember watching the Road Warriors dvd and animal telling the story about when hawk broke either his leg or his foot just days before the scafold match. Get the dvd its awesome and has the scafold match on it
It looks like Hawk was on that special diet - steroids for breakfast, steroids for lunch, and then a sensible dinner :)
