The anime was pretty great. One has to consider just how hard it is to put in every little detail that a Visual Novel can cover that and how to essentially compress it. At least in the moments that counted it was pretty accurate. I loved the final fight between Saber and Gilgamesh, plus Shirou vs Kirei was pretty good too. Accompanied by this music and Saber unleashing Excalibur was intense.

There's one thing in the series that still bothers me to this day. How the fuck did Rin survive? She was actin' all like "listen carefully, this is my last advice", then she says "I'm really sleepy now..." then 4 episodes later she's alive?

@newbiemage123 she gets wounded the same in the visual novel anyway. The anime showed a lot more blood but the end result was the same. Unless u hate rin, you should be happy that she made it. Anyway rin saved shirou from death since early episodes, fixing a wound shouldn't be much hard for a magus her caliber anyway. (put it that way and let's be happy w/e)

It's unbelievable how similar this sounds to Kenji Kawai's other soundtracks (Gundam 00, Higurashi, etc), yet it's completely fresh and unique.

They made a good choice picking Kawai for the anime's music. :D

I watched the whole series on animefreak.tv. The quality of the videos are pretty good. It gets a bit pixilated in scenes with a lot of movement though. If you want to watch Unlimited Blade Works (a movie spin off) then that's all here on YouTube.

I wish everyone that watched the anime would play the Visual Novel. Although the anime is great, the VN has much more detail (no wonder it took me 11 days of reading 8 hours a day to complete all endings), so it's obvious that they had to cut a lot of things from the original story to fit the time limit they had for the anime.

@nathanms1 I'm gonna play the VN, i just finished the anime. I thought it was a pretty good anime, but it seems everyone who's played the VN says it's much better. That, and i wish visual novels would take off outside of Japan. I think they're a good and cheap way to tell a story with a small amount of interaction, and only moderate programming skills. They are a very underrated media format outside of Japan i think, if more people knew about them, and gave them a chance they'd be huge.

Unlimited Blade Works is not really a season 2.

It's a movie based on another route if Shirou had stopped Saber from injuring Archer, which what prevented him from making a major appearance in Fate route.

Magazines need installments. The former is more fulfilling than the latter. Long manga-based animes tend to wear themselves out and use filler because they are using a story that hasn't even been finished yet .Even the thickest paste will run thin if stretched too far

As a result there is no end planned and the story always gets into an awful state. Even "good" long animes have fallen to this. @Shoeless1826 not necessarily. the story for Fullmetal Alchemist was the best i have ever seen (and I've seen a lot of anime). I don't think an anime's length has anything to do with the quality of it. Masterpieces like Fullmetal Alchemist and Code Geass often have just as great storylines as shorter anime like Fate/Stay Night and Utawarerumono.

On a side note, this song is awesome!
