Duran is the greatest lightweight who ever lived. We saw how truly great Duran was when he rose in weight and met and defeated much larger men. That fight against Barkley in '89 was unbelievable. I can't see Chavez or any other fighter accomplishing that or even challenging Hagler the way Duran did. Chavez was a great counter-puncher. Duran was better. Chavez could punch. Duran could punch harder. Chavez was a technician. Duran was a better, more subtle, technician.
