@blockjok It might be known bug for PJ64 that occurs on certain systems. It relates to the intro movie that tries to start up after the Perfect Dark logo and it fails.

Have you just tried to skip it? Press START-button during the rare and Perfect Dark logo to skip the intro movie. Just an quess, if it doesn't help I have few other ideas too. Do you have any gameshark codes on?

I downloaded Project 64 and Perfect Dark. When I go to play PD it displays wrong. Like when I tell a certain character what to do the boxes are longer than normal and won't stop moving. Also, when I look at what guns I have, I see arab logos. And when I pick a gun up, the writting get's taken off. Like [pic when it should say {picked up a ...} HOW DO I FIX THIS?

@HDVIDEOREVIEWS Sounds like hardware, maybe video card drivers. You use Jabo's 1.6 plugin do you? If you have latest drivers, you might have to change to older ones and vice versa. You also might want to try disabling all the "advanced" settings under your graphic settings. What kind of video card you have?

You have to hold the change weapon button to open the quickmenu. The cycle the quickmenus using the Z (shoot) button. There you will find all the teammates and the orders. Just keep holding that change weapon button all the time and release when you are happy with your selection.

Nice way to do it, but one thing still annoys me when doing it on emu: lack of sky textures and some "advanced video" (on Villa, Pelagic II, and especially Crash Site). Has anyone found out why? Is it that I need an updated graphics card? (It's an outdated nVidia, also the reason I can't play Portal on my PC, despite having a 2.6 GHz Pentium 4 with a gig of RAM.)

"Glide64 Napalm WX" can emulate sky and all perfectly nowadays. Sadly it takes better computer to run and it won't be as fluid as Jabo's 1.6 ever. :/ Suits in single player mode.

Yeah, and another thing that I was heavily annoyed with other than sky on my comp... Horizon and Infrared Scanners show garbage on my screen. The Cetan warship level... I had to look at foot movements or real closely to spot those cloaked punks.

If it is not on the list, you must check out your /directories and see where PJ64 checks out the plugins (usually under Procet 64 folder and "plugins"), then just make sure that the plugin is on the right folder.

I tried both project 64 1.6 and 1.7 with all the settings changed and they both lag the same. I want 4 player with no lag the most out of the game.

I can play mario kart without lag and mario party 3 but Perfect Dark and Goldeneye both lag. I think the settings are already the lowest then can be. I'm using a ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 128mb graphics card

Well, if you are close, try to tweak the "Counter Factor", just raise or lower it a bit, and try again, did this change anything?

No it still can't run without lag. There was no difference in the gameplay when i moved the counter factor up and down. Its not even like a continuous lag, it lags in the beginning of 1 player mission but towards the end it starts to run smoothly. In 4 player mode it lags badly anytime someone switches their gun or shoots.

It is known bug that the game lags, while weapons are shoot or reloaded. It is problem with ATI cards.

Maybe you should try Glide64 "Napalm" 1.21-plugin, it might work better than Jabo's, some people have told that it has less lags. On the other hand it is little bit harsh for the frames on big resolutions... :/

Did you start the Carrington Villa from the bottom (this replaces the "Random"-option, the normal multiplayer villa will make it crash. Also try it without simulants, and in Combat (it doesn't work with Capture The Case)?

You must use InputPlugin that have mouse options, like "DarkMan's DInput", there are many plugins for mouse, you just have to try few, and decide which is the best for you. Playing with mouse can be quite fun, the aiming can be adjusted quite well.

yeah in a small window it works alright the grafics plugin helped a bit but even with that it cant run full screen i have project 64 and i played games like conker with very little problems and that game has really good grafics too the sound plugin is hard to find all there is, is threads and stuff but yeah its ok my computer can run it just alot of issues

When i try to use a nightvision the screen is f***** up. i tried everything and it seems my graphics card can't do something that is needed for this game... very strange. because all other games (like goldeneye, f-zero x, dk69, super mario 64 and LOZ:OOT and MM work fine) and also my other emulators (epsxe, zsnes) are fine. so i think i've got a very rare problem.

He tried to play the level with emulator, but it didn't work. All the N64 emulators are good, not just PJ64, it is mainly what plugins you use. This video is made by Project64, 'cause it has Gameshark options, on the otherhand Mupen64 has great internet play. I removed some of the windows to make this multiplayer match little bit faster.

To earn yourself more weapons, levels, difficulty settings, game modes AND simulants etc. you have to clear the "challenges" in the combat simulator.

I run PD with roughly the same spec PC as you, but with an 8600gt and its slightly faster than the N64 at 1280x1024, with full settings. Which I think defeats the object of an emulator. I'm upgrading my videocard soon so hopefully should get better results.

You should be in open field, right?

Press START to access the menu, go combat simulator and play the game! Just choose "Carrington Villa" as your level, it is the bottom one, it replaces the "Random".

You can't play Carrington Institute, while this code is ON, that is why you can't access it, if you want to access Institute again, disable the code.

Which graphics plugin do you suggest that works the best? I've tried 4 different ones, Rices Video plugin 5.5.1, gln64 v0.4.1, mudlord's rice video build 6.1.3 DX9, Jabo's Direct 3d6 1.5.2 for this particular game Winback. Mudlords plugin shows nothing on the screen but sound plays, and the others, well different. If you don't use Jabo's plugin, a grey square floats across the screen every 10 seconds, but if you do use it, you can see the lasers on your gun and on laser trip mines.

You want to see almost all the effects and a great graphics? Then use Glide 64 "Napalm" 1.0, I think it is the plugin for PD so far, it also works great in GoldenEye, but if you want to play this game in multiplayer, with your friends, I think Jabo's Direct 3D8 1.6 is the best, it may not show all the nice effects, but it is fast and easy to configure.

No, Glide64 "Napalm" 1.0 doesn't need any voodoo or hoodoo, it is a quite new plugin, less than 4 months old, you can download it from various emulator related forums.

If you got powerful computer, that is the only choice to play Perfect Dark and GoldenEye. Forget all the older Glide64 plugins, this is different.

Yes, mouse and "wasd" sometimes, when I play alone, mouse1 to shoot, mouse2 to shoot secondary and mouse middle to aim, mouse rolls also scrolls weapons to both directions.

Always, when I play with my friends, or in the internet, I use standard controller, I like it in this game.

Ok the reason why I asked is well I don't have a controller so I'm stuck with using the mouse and I must say I'm really surprised at how well it works. The only thing that bothers me is when you zoom in for aim on any gun. The crosshair always returns back to the center of the screen, I tried checking the absolute X and absolute Y boxes under the devices tab, and it doesn't return back to the center however now the mouse movement is all floaty like.

I hope you have PJ64 1.6, haven't tested this much in Mupen64 or 1964 emulators, but you can test if this doesn't help.

How the game runs if you play it on small window (320x240 resolution)?

Check out, that ONLY the "Copy Framebuffer" is checked from "Advanced settings".

And yes, with FX 5200 you should run this, how much you got memory? Is your game ROM good dump?

The Exact same plugins that you suggested are installed, I have PJ64 1.6, Copy Framebuffer is the only one that is checked, and the ROM is good. and my memory is good. Hell, I tried it with all of my graphics set to minimum and the resolution set to 320x240, and it still runs intensly slow.

OK, lets solve this:

Do you computer run Mario64?

If it do, then it is your setup, do you have the latest graphics card drivers installed (this may sound useless, but it will help, trust me)?

One thing would be trying Azimer's audio plugin, it is the fastest audio plugin there is, it came with PJ64, this is how we eliminate that.

If you have problems running all N64 games, not just PD, shut all of your back-round tasks.

Check that the PD OWN game settings don't different from your plugin's ones?

Well, I fixed the problem, Apparently, checking "Copy Framebuffer To RDRAM" was the reason it was going so slow, I wouldnt say that Perfect Dark Runs amazingly, seeing as how both switching weapons, opening doors and queing AI to attack seems to slow it down, but it definatly runs better and it doesnt get choppy when I open a new window. Alot of other games are also running a lot smoother now, thanks man, but any further help on getting it nearer to 100% would be nice.

Again it would be nice to know something about your computer and the emulator/plugins you use, the best thing to try first is, CAN YOU PLAY this game at all, use low resolution on window, and turn Anistropic filtering OFF, if the game doesn't play well them either, your emulator settings are wrong.

Important thing is that your using good-dump (Perfect Dark 1.1(U)(!)) or something, ROM with a (!)-mark behind.

What kind of computer you have?

The most important thing is, that your counter factor is 1 and you are using Jabo's Direct 3D8 1.6, not 1.7, not 1.5: it must be 1.6.

You can also test other counter factors.

If you are using VERY OLD computer, you might turn your Anistropic filtering OFF, remember, don't use Antialiasing less than 2X, otherwise the game will lag, 2X or more.
