They cannot buy or receive medical equipment and medicines because of US trade embargoes? Hmmmmmmm...so they don't have trade with China, Serbia, Russia?
They can't send doctors to China for training? Sounds like they are using their own people as pawns and excuses to me!
@X97531X Do you have access to DPRK government papers that say that only a few lucky ones are to get quality education? As with labour camps, it's about 1% of the total population that is in prison, just as the US. The main reasons for incarceration aren't even that different. In NK, it's so called free speech and in the US, it's mostly drug related.
@engros These are elite kids hand chosen for the reporters to see. Obviously you never been to S Korea. Many young S Korean kids lived abroad or studied abroad and many speak good English.
@drandydds Exactly, these kids are studying and speaking another language with no reach of native English speakers. To be able to speak at that level is impressive itself. Many second language learners aren't even this good at this age. I remember watching another North Korean feature docu wherein a N.Korean tour guide was speaking fluent French but he doesn't understand some new French words that the presenter was speaking because he hasn't learned it due to outdated medium of study.

To be frank though North Korea is FAR from "ideal" their quality of education has impressed me.

@engros the North Koreans in the video are the "chosen" ones in North Korea and one of the lucky ones to live in Pyongyang.
