Cool, are these easy to look after? Do they smell? Can you feed them just veg? And can they free roam around your house okay for small periods? Thanks, any response will be helpful. They look awesome.
@kyle286 - Hi Kyle, I wouldn't class them as easy to look after. You need a fair amount of experience keeping other reptiles first. They are totally vegetarian but you can't just give them any old veg. Very careful attention needs to be paid to providing the correct dietary mix and there are some plants that must be avoided. I also supplement their diet with, among other things, bee pollen, spirulina, multi-minerals etc. They can be allowed to roam under strict supervision. They poop copiously.
@theherpetologistTV Thanks for the reply, does that go with most Skinks? I was looking at Blue Tongued Skink's as well, does it cost a fair amound to look after them? How often does their tank need cleaning as well? I want to get as much information about them as possible before considering one. Thanks.
I had one years ago but I got it for $150. But the price has went way, way up since then. Nice thing is, they are vegetarian. I had a wild caught one, and he would bite if he was in a bad mood, but you could usually tell. Had to handle with gloves due to claws. Generally though, a great pet. Vegetarian, which means you could just take him fruits and veggies from your meal. Pretty good escape artist, he got out of his cage several times, one time for almost a week..thankfully found him.
