I am using a 27 inch imac hooked up to a belkin av360 that allows hdmi(1080)

hooked up to my ps3

now that would be fine, but the imac wont go to 1080p, so it drops to 720, so it looks like crap.

i don´t know your system but i even play high end graphics in new games like hard reset in dx10/dx11 on 30 fps in hightest settings. and a gpu doesnt matter so much you must have a cpu that work with the gpu. on your settings i think you don´t even have a cor 2 duo @ 2,5ghz or amd +5000

Those are certainly better, considering you can get those cards for around $70-$85 I feel buying a 9500GT these days is pointless, unless you're really cheap or really poor or something.

I'm not that big of a fan of the GT 430 since it's basically a slightly stripped down GT 240, but it's certainly decent.

The 5670 is faster than the GT 240/GT 430/5570/4670. It's around $80 to $100. The 9800GT can roughly tie the 5670 and can be as cheap as $66. 5750 is the next step and is faster than all these, can get to around $110. Then 5770 at around $135. They all work on 500w. Very tight $60-$140 area.

Sounds about right.

8GB is a ton and is a good idea for a gaming PC.

Of course, for FPS in games, the main thing a game wants is lots of graphics power.

And don't forget CPU power either, some games don't need too much though.

Most video cards will have DDR2, DDR3, GDDR3, or GDDR5.

There's a variety of memory speeds.

DDR2 is a a type of memory, usually the slower type. Lots of fast memory is what you want.

Each card is different.

The highest end cards use GDDR5 now.

Nope, as long as you have a PCI-E X16 slot, and you probably do, cards will work, as long as they fit in the case and your power supply is enough.
