This is weird, because I can play this song standing up no problem, but a lot of the other things that he's made look easy standing up I can't even do sitting down. Maybe it's a testament to how big my hands are, I don't know.

@inesenthm Depends how you play it I guess. A lot of people play the first part of the solo using open strings, which is quite easy while standing up (but doesnt have the same tone).. joe plays it all up top which gives it that bassy tone

I don't want to sound like I'm tooting my own horn though, because I know that Satch is thousands of times better than I am, so I hope I don't come off like a jackass. This just sort of surprised me.

MapleLeafAce, you nailed it on the head. There are so many comparsions between guitarists and it's the same old story. If the guy plays 100 notes a second , he's the best.I disagree with these ever so common debates. Satriani plays fast, but more importantly has feeling as well as beautiful melodies. His music makes my ears so happy. To each his own, I think he's the most talented rock guitarist on the planet.

I love Satriani's work, he has such a distinctive way of writing but sitting down he's just about surviving. Hats off though to an amazing section musically and technically.

@itspietime4u Epiphone SG, but I have a red Dean and if I use that I can play CD standing up, with 3:30 I use the open strings instead of the 5th fret and the sweeps are something that stoped my for about 5-6 months, then I started doin them and they were kinda easy.
