@vientojuggler That is not correct, the TU-144 also flew, but as it was never granted permission to fly supersonic on (Western) Europe, it was used only for the long-haul domestic flights, i.e. Moskow Vladivistok. The only one never to fly was the Boeing.

Also not sure how long was runway, but I´m pretty sure that it requires really long runway for Concorde and TU-144 to take off. Also you probably forgot to turn on afterburners in order to increase thrust of engines for faster acceleration.

Actually Boeing 2707 was never even made. Only wooden mock-up. The real deal wasn´t made because it was too heavy and in real world it wouldn´t be able to take off runway, let alone take off from less than 1 mile long like video shows. Also there are many supersonic planes like Valkyrie, SR-71. This were only passenger supersonic planes. Just saying...

As far as design goes, the Concode looks the best. The pencil thin shape and the huge delta (or triangular) shaped wings make it look a lot better than the Tupolev.

As far as the Boeing, it never really went anywhere past the conceptual stage, so it looks to me as if the Concorde reigns supreme over the competitions. Well done Europe!

@NEardood2 Right on, no farther than the Tu-144 could fly without refueling, it wouldn't do Qantas much good. Also, a first-rate airline such as Qantas would have bought a better SST than the Tu-144 if it wanted an SST. But then again, ANY supersonic airliner would make business sense if oil were $40 a barrel, maybe more like $20 a barrel.

@travideo20 By having the nose down for taxi, takeoff and landing, it gives the flight crew a better view as the TU-114 and Concorde have windscreens at such an angle that the pilot can see better when the nose is down. Underneath the nose there is a near vertical screen which makes viewing easier, but if this was the front of the aircraft without a tapering nose it would not be able to go supersonic.

there are hundreds of different types of planes that go super sonic... the concorde and the tupolev are the only supersonic commercial jets that have been in service for that reason, concorde was first to come up with the idea and the russians got hold of the plan and rushed to make one similar, and it was much much worse quality than the concorde, the concorde is THE best quality plane ever made, it IS coming back, they have one in the works to get it back in the air, in france

That is the wrong version of the boeing 2707. Lockeed and Boeing were both competeing to build it. The boeing version is the one that won the competeion. However that is not the boeing version in this video. The version in this video is the lockeed version. The lockeed version is a much different shape and size then the boeing version.

@soulreaperbg Yes, but think of jets also, they don't look 95% the same. The only main difference I can see between the Concorde and the Tu-144 is the fact that the Tu has separate wings that fold out to help stabilise at low speeds. I was just wondering if they were designed on the same concept.

So I don't think that the fact that the TU-144 and the Concorde are supersonic means that they will look the same. Look at fighters; the majority or modern fighters are supersonic, yet they contrast against each other in a visual sense. They don't look the same.

Boeing 2707 was never built. They had two prototypes in the works, but funding was cut before they made it into production.

Rest is correct Tupolev Tu-144 and Concord are they only supersonic commercial airlines that have been made&used.

There are three currently active research project for new commercial supersonic airliners. Japan / JAXA (company) is working on what they call "Next Generation Supersonic Transport" and EU is working on two projects ESRP and LAPCAT project / A2 (the engine).
