this film raoul walsh of 1941 for me is the best version of the General Custer with Errol Flynn (unforgettable) and Anthony Quinn in the role of crazy horse, larger than life. This film was shot with real Indians, and tells a story which was held only 64 years before.
typical us version they all died together in some heroic last stand even though the indians and the archaelogical evidence clearly clearly shows they died running for themselves. but isnt that what all westerns are really, just glorified ethnic cleansing videos?
Filmed in 1942, it is a very overly fictionalized account of the Battle Of The Little Big Horn. Still, it is one of my favorite Errol Flynn movies, with Anthony Quinn playing Sioux chief Crazy Horse. I would also recommend the film, Son Of The Morning Star. Very Very Good.
@jhoff1234 you are correct. This movie was filmed like in the 1950/60s and it forgot the fact that custer was a drunk eragant fuck and that the in dians were attacking them while they were on horse back befor dismounting and making a final stand - we know this because there was a trail of bodies (custer's men) leading to the final clusterfuck of him and what remained
We must never forget, when we see this kind of video, about the terrible massacre that madethe white man on the indigenous population ... to a land, no doubt, but for gold and silver too ... Then, decades later, the descendants of the winners have made this type of film, telling a story that is a little different ...
@drakomuendo I certainly agree with you. But that does not mean we should not make exceptions and criticize what is presented to us. Part there are two or more versions of any event and that there is a dominant (hegemonic, as Gramsci would say). But not always and not all voices are silent. Fortunately.
@leannepowell2 It's called "They Died With Their Boots On" and it's an overtly fictionalized account of George Custer's life from West Point to Little Big Horn.
QUE BUENA ESTA PELÍCULA... CUANDO YO ERA NIÑO ME GUSTABA CUSTER PERO AHORA Q, E ESTUDIADO DE COMO LOS INMIGRANTES EEUU. MATARON A TANTOS NATIVOS ASESINARON TANTA GENTE POR DESPOJARLOS DE SUS TIERRAS ME DA ASCO HABER SIDO HINCHA DE LOS SOLDADOS,,, BRAVOS GUERREROS AL MANDO DE CABALLO LOCO,,, BUENA

This film made it seem like there were a lot of dead Indians at Little Big Horn. I think more Indians died in the movie than in the real battle.

@professorleonardo80 history is written by the victor. In war it is he who wins that is right even if they are wrong.
